Different strokes for different folks I guess. Not saying WB is the end all be all, but I've given In N Out a couple tries, and it's just not that good.

Great businesses usually end up expanding beyond their ability to maintain the quality that made them special. They are still a great stop but definitely not what they were when they first started

This.

But so long as people keep going there (and that ain't stopping based on what I have seen), we're stuck reminiscing about the good old days…. That, and they have basically been deemed "untouchable" by Texans, in that, the second you criticize them you get your Texan Card revoked. Much in the same way you cant say anything bad about Whataburger, Blue Bell or HEB.

In and out is miles better than Whataburger….

It's really not.

I mean if you are cool with frozen food just dumped into a fryer, extremely inconsistent quality between stores, and group think, then by all means, keep loving Whataburger.
The only appeal to In and Out is the "secret" menu that isn't a secret, but it makes everybody feel as if they are in some exclusive "I'm better than you" club when they walk up and order something off menu that everybody and their uncle knows about.

I have been less than impressed with the quality and flavor every single time I've suffered through going to an in-and-out. And after the first time I learned that one must order a double to get a somewhat decent serving of meat on the burger.

Neither are anything special, both are a fast food joint and nothing more.

And I love the monthly or so Bucees thread that pops up.

I"m convinced that most claim they dislike or hate the store simply because they feel as if they need to be contrarian to everything. Same folks also try to compare things like the quality of BBQ at a gas station to Franklins or Snows and then point and say "see!!!! I told you it was a horrible place!".

It's a gas station. Not the first large chain gas station, won't be the last. They have clean bathrooms, clean pumps (that almost all work at any given point in time), friendly customer service and a lot of other things that make it worth stopping in all but a handful of the mega store locations. it's also partially owned by an Ag that is proud to be an Ag and has donated a bunch of money to the school due to his success.

Around here most of the smaller older Buccees stores have been sold off, Stripes is the dominant company that purchases them. For the first year, they hold up pretty well in terms of keeping it almost Buccees clean and operationally similar. After that, the dropoff is absolutely noticeable.

BTW - those Buccees branded food that apparently are of such lower quality? He pays to either have his packaging put on by the same manufactuer or, like in the case of most of the beef jerky, realizes that just buying the company is better than haggling over contracts, pricing, etc. annually.

I do have the redass that Beaver discontinued the ham and cheese kolache though, that one was my favorite and it needs to be brought back post haste.

I'm not sure how a burger can be either conservative or liberal?

When I chomp down on a patty melt from Whataburger I'm really not thinking about politics. Just how wonderful that artery clogging sandwich is.

Have had plenty of In and Out double doubles and it just does not compare. It didn't give any Liberal tendencies either .

I will say the In and Out burger in Thousand Oaks may be the nicest fast food place I've been.

Hotel chargers are usually level 2 and painfully slow. I'll stop at a supercharger if I need to charge and buccees has 250kwh chargers.
The part about you charging your car(t) was only seconding the statement/question that read that you pop into a name branded hotel that you are not staying at, to eat the free breakfast for those that do, and then take a dump in their restrooms.

Do you really scarf the free food intended for paying hotel patrons and use the restrooms intended for the same? Really?

If I only have to use the restroom or get breakfast I usually just stop at a name hotel chain. Free breakfast and the lobby restrooms are usually private and always clean

Until you've been inside the restroom of a West Texas Allsups, you haven't seen real filth. I swear the last time some of those were clean was the day they first opened.

Buccees is consistently a clean quality place for me. I'm in the one in Luling on my way to POC about 3/4 times a month. It was super crowded last Saturday but I checked out on the South end where the registers had no line. I guess it helps knowing where everything is. Candied pecans are my kryptonite. Theirs are hot and fresh.

In and out has the worst fries on the planet. And you need 4 or 6 patties to get full. Can't believe anyone stops.

Yeah, but their fried burritos are worth the trip to Allsups

Just burned out. Also, too many damn people. There are so many new gas stations that are more convenient with similar quality provisions.

I know I'm the only one. I'm cool with it!
Buc-ees is so terrible it attracts huge crowds is quite a take.

Buc-Ees food is underwhelming, but it is fine I suppose.

What I appreciate is they always seem to be fully staffed and you rarely have to wait at the register even when it is very busy.

I'll admit to buying the sausage on a stick wrapped in a tortilla. Good driving food.
