Sorry for what happened. I'm afraid the incompetentcy is only going to get worse. Good cops are quitting literally daily and standards and qualifications will be lowered to fill the need.
I don't know frankly why anyone in this day would want to make a career as a leo if any kind.

I have a good Aggie buddy who has been a game warden for 22 years. He makes $42,000 a year and has been shot at multiple times.

No he doesn't.

What Kind of Degree Is Needed to Be a Texas State Game Warden?

Quote:

Texas Game Warden Salary

Texas Parks and Wildlife indicates that entry-level game warden cadets start out making $3,362.50 per month, which increases to $4,436.83 per month after training and probation. At four years, game wardens earn $5,409.92 per month. Salary caps out at $6,487.17 after 20 years of service.

Thanks, I'm not anti cop by any means. Like most people I've had good and bad experiences with various LEOs over the years. I've just learned over the years that there's little they can or will do regarding property crimes. That leaves many citizens a little jaded when they see the focus on revenue generating activities while little attention is paid to the most common crimes that people fall victim to.

Just something to think about, and obviously different depending on where you live. But put yourself in the LEO shoes and think if you have a prosecutor who would sit or not pursue certain types of cases (either by bias or court availability). Would be hard position to be in.

Cool...I'm still calling bull***** There is no way in hell a LEO of 22yrs is making only $42k/yr. I don't care what state he is in.

I don't really care what you think. He is in MO. You can fact check I guess. He actually got a raise Jan. 1. It's now 48,700.00.

So go call BS. somewhere else.

Right on.
Moving forward, I hope things go smoothly for you and you get your bike back as it was when they lifted it.

And what holes are that? I just went to google for that info. To see if he was perhaps BSing me. On salary.com it shows the average salary of a Missouri Conservation Officer as of Feb. 23, 2023 to be $46,700 and some change.

What other holes now?

This one of the more odd derails I've ever seen.

A debate on game warden salaries in Missouri as part of a thread about a stolen dirt bike in Texas.

22yrs of service. Find me a LEO that is 22 years of service in and making the average salary at a Conservation Agent I.

After the six-month training period, these professionals are eligible to move to Conservation Agent I, which comes with an average salary of $46,592. From there, average salaries increase along with conservation agent rank:

  • Conservation Agent II: $49,712
  • Conservation Agent III: $56,264

14 years of service and I'm making 65k a year and that's before overtime and extra jobs kick in.

Last year I cleared more than 120k. No LEO is making 42k a year with 22 years of service.

I don't know no Ag tag. You are absolutely correct. The man that comes to my ranch in the Ozarks in the green uniform with the badge and the Aggie ring is lying to me according to you.
Let's say he makes a whopping 55k or 60k. after 22 years? Is that better?
Now. Did that change the argument much?
Is that worth being shot at? Guess to you it would be. It must be ok with him at just the 48K...., perhaps it's more than about more than money to him..... like most LEO's I know.
I give my friend.... you are right in all accounts....
Hope the thread can carry on as it was intended.

Thank you guys for your advice on how to prove ownership of my dirt bike. I can somehow work LEO's salary into my argument.

Did they happen to climb over a fence to get said dirt bike? We could easily weave that into the thread about you protecting your investments with at least an 8 footer instead of some low fence that invites nefarious trespassers.

In Fort Worth, off duty jobs (restaurant, bar, banquet security) can be $300-$500/night...Pair that with being an NPO, which is is the best gig because you learn about these opportunities and don't really have to be anywhere during the day, just available and in the area, so you can easily work 3--5 nights a week if you wanted.

San Antonio writes into most of their street construction projects that the contractor must have an off-duty police officer on site during active construction to act as traffic control. What that means is that a cop sits by the barricades in his private vehicle that has lights and magnetic decals that says POLICE. What happens behind those tinted windows is a mystery, but he is getting paid by the contractor (and the taxpayers) to be there.

Here is the honest truth and it sucks. Unless you have video evidence of the perp taking the property, police won't say it to you, but their isn't much they can do for stolen property.

The value can be 1 dollar to 1 million dollars. Unless there is hard proof of perp taking said item. They are chasing a ghost and some departments don't have the man power to chase after stolen goods.

This is complete B.S. If they would place their efforts toward crime and away from generating revenue via traffic citations then there would be far less theft with the same man power.

I'll just take that as a fun joke. As you don't know me and we are all Aggies. I'm an old so still believe in respect for fellow Aggies. My history of my post on the OB should reflect that as I have offered help to many Ags on here over the years.
With that being said... sorry I don't drink my friend.... but I will just take it as all in good bull.

All this ending teaches us is we can't rely on law enforcement to do their jobs, so we should take matters into our own hands
As a LEO, stolen dirt bikes would be low on my list of things to worry about.

Kids are dying from fentanyl over dose and human tracking is up triple digits.

Not trying to be callous, OP should have registered the bike and should have gotten a title asap. Police can only do much, in fact the dude who has the bike now, can say he bought it.

Not trying to argue, but even if he had a title, what would be different in this scenario?
a title is a legal document that says person owns said property. It is filed with the state so they have record of last known owner. Without a title the OP doesn't have legal claim to the bike. He doesn't own it in the legal sense.

Thieves almost always sell them with eliminated VIN…..like in this specific case. Title in most cases simply proves you had a similar bike stolen….as does the prior police report.
