So my neighbor has a huge nest of ground hornets next to his fence and it's right on the edge of our cul-de-sac/green space. So there's constantly kids playing over there and I don't think this is gunna get solved unless I help out. He had some pest control business come out and spray them but that didn't do squat.

I seem to remember the best plan of action being go over at night and fill their hive up with gasoline or diesel? Or that's what I thought I remember reading?

You don't need to do that, although it would work. Just spray them with any wasp killer.

It makes no sense that he had a pest control company spray and "that didn't do squat". They must have avoided the area, or just did not make full contact with the nest.

Personally, I wouldn't go around soaking a neighbors yard with gas/diesel unless I really knew what I was doing.

I know the guy and obviously wasn't gunna do this without talking to him first and it's not in his yard. It's in the green space that butts up to his fence. Looks like a desert right now with as dry as it is anyways. Wasn't gunna light it, although the redneck and pyro in me wants to.

Fire is the only acceptable answer here.

Gas/diesel, back away and ignite with a burning roll of toilet paper thrown to the nest.
Just don't lite the TP standing over the gas can!!!

I remember something similar at an industrial facility I was working at. Pest control company came out with some kind of foaming pest killer and filled up the hole. They didn't use the over the counter cans, but I think it would work. I'd probably get a few more cans than you think you need just in case it's a bigger hole than you are anticipating.

I think I did that right

Fipronil via Termidor or Taurus SC. Doesn't have the immediate knockdown kill but the delayed death allows the initially exposed ones to carry the chemical into the nest. This makes it very deadly to bees and is why it's labeled use is so restricted

Get a 12" square of screen
Place over hole
Hold screen down with 4 bricks or something heavy
Dump a half bottle of dish soap down the hole
Fill hole with water until full
Walk away and go to bed
Come back in the morning and remove screen and boss walk back into the house

Sevin dust. Buy at any feed store.

Here's some advice from 10 year old me: Don't put a garden hose down the hole.

25 cent solution….Pump sprayer with dawn dish soap and water. Flood the hole.

Spectracide Wasp and Hornet Killer or Tempo Dust.

I don't know but that sounds like the opposite of 'best plan of action". You could do like my folks did and go old school..."Boy that's a hive of bees, don't go by it or you'll get stung.". They were right.

Well I'm heading out to do the deed. I will report back. If y'all don't see me again, it's been good.

Was probably pretty comical to watch from afar. First off, my 2 year old has hidden all my flashlights from me. So off I went with a spot light. I gingerly walk up on the nest with the wasp spray under my arm and sevin dust container in the other.

There's about 200 of these sons of *****es all in a big ball within a divot where I guess their nest entrance is. I go to shake the sevin dust with the spreader lid on, looked like a popcorn fart in the wind. So I took the whole lid off and just dump the whole container right on top of them.

I get back over to the trash can and read the bottle and it says "Sevin dust lawn and garden, 5% dust" on it. My wife went to Home Depot today and I had her buy this stuff. It sure if there's a more diluted cocktail for putting on your vegetables but I hope that's not what she bought. I guess we'll see tomorrow. I could've totally gotten the whole lot of em with the wasp spray,
