Was considering a new fence and like the look of the Ponderosa. Located in NE Texas and wondering what to expect on cost per foot. Any other suggestions as well? TIA

This is the priefert fence, correct?

From mccoys:

Prices start around $13.00 for the 4-rail per linear foot. (Pricing subject to change based on market conditions and/or fence design).

If I remember, there were concerns about posts rotting at openings, don't know if that is a legitimate concern or not.

I've never heard of this kind of fence. I had to look it up. Yeah, this looks expensive in materials AND labor and also looks like it'll be a real ***** to repair if it ever needs it. Lots of places to rot, too.

I think I'd kick over to full welded pipe fence if this is the appearance I'm after.

They must not have updated the pricing on that page recently. The cost for materials per foot is going to start at $18 minimum.

Priefert came out with another option recently that utilizes metal posts. It's called estate fencing.

Saw some neat fencing on a recent trip to the Pahsimeroi Valley in Idaho. I asked about the wooden pole fencing around some hay and alfalfa fields and was told they were easier to repair after elk move thru.

Aggiedoc.... I just had to repair some Ponderosa fencing at our ranch in the Ozarks.
It was older and had a couple of large trees that fell across it. When I contacted a dealer the sales guy was an Ag and he shared that due to EPA rulings the treated post now can no longer be treated with arsenic. Arsenic was the main preservative in treated lumber and can not be used any longer. He said the treated post and lumber now don't last worth a damn. Thought I would pass along.
Sure is a pretty fence though.

Several years ago a neighbor of mine built one of these fences. The posts didn't show signs of rot. The pipe was similar to thin EMT tubing. I don't think it could withstand any pressure by livestock. The piping also had to be spray with Clorox every year b/c of mold growth.
