When it comes to recognizable engine sounds, there is only one king
Relevant to current discussion as nitrous was used in WWII fighters I see what you did there.Aggieangler93 said:

Speaking of engine noise, our daughter turning jet fuel into noise:

Big Boy is the loudest thing I've ever heard from about 50'. The noise and pressure just deafening and pounding. Scared the bejeezus out of my kid.TexasRebel said:
External combustion counts!

You can judge a man by the total number of spark plugs in all his engines. I think I'm at 20, not counting wife's car
I thought you had me beat, but I guess I'm at 54 cylinders now. Like guns, I have a big problem selling cars after I've bought them and seem to be "collecting" them in pairsCanyonAg77 said:
If we count cylinders, personally at 45 running, another 20 in projects, recently sold 16 more. So 81 about 45 days ago
I cut my teeth on a V8 1967 Mustang (with Pony Interior) in High School when everyone else was driving some 80s oldsmoibile crap. I pity that younger generation too my friend! Slamming that pedal to the floor and popping that clutch would almost leave that pony standing on it's end!!! What a rush!Gunny456 said:
Been racing outboards since the 1980's. Nothing like " flying" a V-pad performance boat at 90 plus with 6" of hull in the water.
The wife and I restored a numbers matching 1970 GTO Judge with a Ram Air III 400 about 16 years ago. There still is nothing like a high octane av- gas eating big block's sound.
I pity our younger generation that never got to experience the muscle car era. Now some say how much " fun" a Tesla is. They have no idea.

If it was 2018 to 2020, could have been her. In about 2013, she flew a T-38 low level over a river in Alabama. Fisherman stood up and leaned back to watch her go over. And leaned back. And leaned back and splash!

Not sure why, but I have always loved the sound of a Poppin' Johnny. Those old natural gas engine pump jacks are comforting to me, it reminds me of riding around checking cows with my grandfather as a child.
Daughter got to stand by the runway in Qatar as a B-1 took off. She said the same, that you felt it more than heard it.TexasRebel said:
Seconded.
If it's loud enough, the thrill is the whole body feeling of the pressure waves. Not the excruciating sound in your ears.
