I never underestimate my ability to be wrong, and hope the more seasoned members of texags can set me straight.

My uncle got very into shooting skeet and trap some years ago and set himself up for reloading 20ga. He passed all of his equipment on to me, and I find myself slightly out of my element. I shoot a good bit of rifle and pistol, and the little bird hunting I do is with a 12ga.

I am interested in getting into reloading rifle and pistol (.308 and 44mag), and have read quite a few threads here gearing up to get started. From what I can tell both presses that I have will only work for shotshells? They are both MEC brand and the larger is a 9000 series, I'm not sure about the other. Can anyone help identify? obviously I assume the scale would be suitable for rifle and pistol reloading, but can anyone speak to the quality of the model?

Ideally I'd like to trade this equipment to get set up to load .308 and 44mag. Or sell it and use the funds towards that setup. There looks to be about 750 20ga wads, 2lbs of green dot, 1000+ primers, a box of idk how many hulls and the 2 presses. I have not used any of the equipment, but my uncle never did anything half measure and he always bought quality everything and took care of it. I am looking around online trying to determine a fair value, but any thoughts or info here would be much appreciated. Thanks and Gig'em

No crossover compatibility to handgun and rifle rounds, for the equipment you inherited, other than the scale.
Best to try and sell the presses and components, but don't expect a big demand.
Maybe with the significant increase in factory rounds cost, shotshell loading may make a resurgence, probably depends on the cost of shot.

Price the equipment on the mec website before you try to sell. I think demand is higher than some people think.

You have a standard single station press and a basic progressive turret press. Both have the auto primer feed accessory.
Both are good equipment albeit dated somewhat but still being made by MEC.
As stated they can't be used or modified for rifle or pistol reloading.
The RCBS scale is a basic fulcrum style that he probably used to check the powder being thrown by the bars of the mec's. Most everybody uses digital scales now.... for simplicity and faster measurements.
I keep a fulcrum scale around just to double check my digital scales from time to time.
The 5-0-2 sells on eBay used for 40.00 to 60.00 or so.
I just sold a set up exactly like you have on the MECs.... only in 12 gauge. I got $50.00 for the standard and $175 on the progressive press.
As far as getting started on your rifle and pistol.... RCBS and Hornady make some start up kits that are nice.
I would suggest going with the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Press...... much easier to operate than the others.
I'm sure you will get lots of advice and input on the OB. We will have you buying Dillon auto load machines before your finished !

New, the single stage 600 will be just shy of $300. The progressive, now a GN model, will be around $800.

Both of those machines, though they've been around a while, are super reliable. I've bought and sold several Mecs...you might be surprised what they might go for...I'd list it all as a package for probably $500 or so.

When they start turning yellow like that, the powder and shot bottles start getting brittle and are ripe for creating a mess. Whoever ends up with those loaders should replace them.

I'd suggest printing a flyer and posting at any ranges close to you. Or putting in the classifieds somewhere like Shotgunworld.com. They might sell right here on Texags. I could be wrong, but shipping the powder/primers probably isn't worth the hazmat hassle to do, so selling locally may be the only option.

I'd save the Green Dot. Limited more than likely, but I'd bet there are some 44 loads that'd use it.

One hard copy is probably good. You can look up data several places online like the powder manufacturer and bullet manufacturers sites.
