I carry a Kershaw Leek, Ken Onion, black.
My father, had an Eye Brand pocket knife that Heaven and Earth would have been moved before he left the house without it. I have it, and considered carrying it in his honor and memory, however it is a bit large as a pocket knife for me to carry, and I would go without flying or getting into a venue if I forgot and left it in my pocket before I'd part with it.
I have a bunch of family pocket knives from his dad and his too, and I am pretty sure his in turn. Generations of them. It is amazing how they'd sharpen them down to a toothpick profile before they'd put them away in case they needed them again, only to use the next one till it looked the same.
We seem to be a generation of people, me included, that will buy something when we already have another that does what the new one will. I fear, we are looking at times ahead that we will look upon these times in which we live now, as the "boon" in our lives, and we too will find necessity in sharpening the tools we use to the point they are barely useable, replacing it if we can, and keeping the remnants in case we need them again. Not just knives, but lots of things. I try to impress the importance of taking care of things to my kids for times like the ones I fear could be coming.
