Yeah, I was one of the ones laughing about it and throwing jabs but that's because I saw a giant minus sign early this morning rather than a brown recluse! I like your attitude. You're crazy man...you got a dart in your neck.

100% for sure brown recluses. No question. All of them.
So light the fire and walk away?

Why in the hell would we have 4 brown recluses in the spare bedroom? Would that be considered an infestation? I know this is Midland and all, but I don't want one of the kids getting bit. Any thoughts on what to do? I'll have a pest company out here tomorrow.

Your wife...did she seem "surprised" that there were 4 brown recluses in the bedroom that she sent you to?

Went through a period of heavy snoring and spent many nights on the couch. It sucked.

Now I'm crawling around with a headlamp on checking all the corners or the master bedroom and found another dead one. That makes 5. I dont want to wake the girls up tonight to check their rooms, but F this has me pretty freaked out. At least the vast majority of them have been dead. I'm wondering if maybe they didn't come in on some furniture my wife ordered. I dont know, we moved in here in November and you'd think we'd have noticed before.

If most of them are dead, your current pest control may be working. Just up the dose!

Don't want to wake the babies? It's time to evacuate the babies and burn that mofo to the ground!

If you need help I just boarded a plane to midland. Can be there in an hour.

After I got bit on the stomach we cleaned everything out of closets, shelves etc, then had pest control spray all those areas, even in the attic. Luckily at the time were in a smaller house (1200 sf).

They also put out those rectangular sticky traps (glue in the inside of a open ended rectangle. We were a little appauled how many browns those caught. When asked how long we should keep those out before replacing, they told us leave them as they would be drawn to the traps to try and eat the dead bugs.

A year later when we changed the traps, we rarely saw any spiders, but no brown recluses. We live in Amarillo and they are a common occurrence up here as well.

Best day ever was the day we closed on a new house, even though I hadn't seen one in awhile.

I need some assistance on this...

1. Are we rooting for/against him dying at this point?

2. We have verified the "Road chose me" guy never died...right?

All in all, I think the OP has taken this a lot better than I would have had I found a platoon of Brown Recluse(s) in my bedroom....

Quote:

Recluse spiders are also known as violin spiders, or brown spiders. There are thirteen species of Loxosceles in North America. Four other species in the genus recorded from Texas are: the Big Bend recluse, L. blanda (Gertsch and Ennik), from West Texas; the Texas recluse, L. devia (Gertsch and Mulaik), from Central and South Texas; L. apachea (Gertsch and Ennik); and L. rufescens (Dufour) from scattered locations across the state. The Texas recluse may be the most common species in Texas and is often mistaken for L. reclusa.

Still alive and kicking. Actually feel pretty good today so all those betting against me or looking to snag the wife, guns, truck, tools etc are going to be disappointed.

Pest folks will be out this afternoon,I'm going to try that route before burning the house down.

Seriously though, through the jokes (I hope they were jokes) I have gotten some good advice and support.

Well only one was in the bed, the one that got me. The rest were dead in the same bedroom. And one dead in the master bedroom. Still I refuse to sleep in the guest room again.

Apparently this is fairly common around here (Midland/Greenwood). We've talked to several people now that said they have had BRs in their houses in the area.

The pest guy today seemed certain we could get rid of them. We will see.
