Irma is on the board. And she doesn't look like she's going to the Carolinas anymore.

FWIW that's the kind of track that those of us in the Carolinas would pay even more attention to, because the inevitable turn to the north would be possibly be closer to us instead of out to sea.

The model I saw this morning has Irma slamming right into y'all.

I just heard that some places in Dallas are running out of gas. Can anybody confirm?

My counterpart out of Ft. Worth said he was driving all over because he could not find gas.

There is going to be a massive shortage. Where I'm at in Victoria is bad. I run our family owned service station so I've been in contact with distributors.

Yup, friend of mine said this morning he visited 4 places. All out of gas.

Yep, some of the companies are going to have short term supply issues and there's been a rush on the stations starting last night once the media began reporting on it.

I topped off both vehicles this morning before 6am and had to go to three stations before I was able to find one that still had any gas. It was premium only and a fairly decent line was starting to form.

Maybe a little insight from the GB: https://texags.com/forums/12/topics/2877354/replies/49697778

Here's the deal (I work in the fueling industry). There will not be a shortage. Right now the tankers are few and far between. They are coming in from other cities as fast as they can. We got 30 calls yesterday and about 20 today from stations out of fuel. We only repair pumps/lines/tanks/alarms....that being said the stations that called us were from clerks not knowing what the alarm meant. Meaning there were prob a **** ton more that had managers on site that knew what the issue was and didn't call. Yes, sites are not knowing when the next drop will be and that is setting in paranoia.

The advice I'm giving my employees and friends is this: you will be fine on finding fuel. Just do not get down to empty and expect the first site you come to have gas. Make sure you have enough to go to 2-3 before you find fuel. No one has been out for more than 6-12 hours. It's just taking a bit longer to dump fuel daily. For reference I work with Racetrac, Valero, Murphy USA (Sams/Walmart) Kroger, Tom Thumb, Love's, Minyards/Fiesta, Fuel City, TA and Brookshires daily. The amount of friends calling me over this is nuts, I didn't realize most of them even knew what I did for a living.

I know that areas of Frisco and plano are out. I'm in Fort Worth and the lines are way out into the street. Once I finally got to pump it pumped extremely slow, so slow that auto shut off didn't activate and people were spilling gas all over the ground. Filled up for 2.79/gallon on West side of FW.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any supply issues, just distribution issues. We have 230 million barrels of gasoline in storage in the US right now. it is just a matter of distribution. And I can imagine that in Texas, many have been filling up on their way to Houston to help and the pipeline network out of Houston is probably down right now. Production might be down, but that shouldn't be much of an issue because it appears that most of the plants did not have any real damage, but we will have to see. All and all, it should be just a short term issue.

Do you think driving from Austin to Galveston and back would be okay as far as finding gas?

Models have been trending more east coast, but it's still over a week out and there's plenty of model runs between now and then. At this point it's just something that's on my mind if I make a Sam's run for something else - grab an extra case of water which if nothing happens, will just get taken to work anyway.

Sounds like gas stations all over the state are running out of gas. I wouldn't make that trip unless I had a full tank and some jerry cans. And even then I'd top off along the way. Maybe also if I had a Prius.

I got gas on my lunch break because I was on E. Took about 20 min and I watched the price go up 3 cents while I was in line.

Doesn't mean that there will be gas. If everybody decides to fill up today as tomorrow you are going to have gas shortages just because there aren't enough tankers to keep them all supplied.

Houston:
All (gas/diesel) racks are closing down today with no fuel. Only 1 rack is open in Houston.

Somewhat disagree. There are a lot of people that are filling up that will sit on that fuel for days or weeks. This run on fuel is an acute problem, not chronic. The same thing happened after Ike, Katrina and Rita. Give it a few days and it will get better in the areas that are out of fuel and the hysteria will settle.

Raisin Windmill. Storm killed our pumps, not able to pump any gas right now. Old diesel pump made it so that's all I'm selling. I'm a week out from replacing all my old equipment anyways so I guess timing isn't horrible. We had an army of volunteers cleaning up the store Tuesday getting it ready for when the power came on. Couldn't have opened without the help of the community. I really feel blessed. Running as a corner pantry selling BBQ until our new equipment
comes in. Come by and see me!
