Yes, they are worth the price in my opinion. But also the price is due to exclusivity and the fact that people like me will pay that price. I would only spend that much and buy the ones that are really highly rated. Mostly though they know that these things are a luxury and exclusive more like something you can show your friends that you have them so the price reflects this. Just my thoughts. I think that the difficulty and maybe a higher demand have either kept the prices high where they have been or have driven them up a little.

I look at a price of a box of Cubans this way. Say the box is $300-$500. 1. i am not going to go into this purchase alone, probably get a friend or 2 to buy in and then we split the cigars. 2. The ones i buy will be around for a while because i would only smoke them on certain occasions. Therefore a cigar i paid $30-$50 for is justified in my head.

But you are right that cigars from other countries are really good too and can compete with the Cubans and are cheaper.

I read a few reviews questioning the authenticity of some of their cigars, claiming they were knockoffs and such. As a novice (aka me) how can you be assured they are authentic?

Decision to purchase Cubans due to politicis is a different topic all together.

You can check the codes online to find out if any CC's are fake. You can look up the counterfeit bands on cigar aficionado too and compare. There are many Facebook groups with reputable people selling which is where I buy most of mine, unless like Stout said I need a box that I really like and usually will split it between my buddies. Or if I get a box for just myself im probably going to be aging them for a few years. If anyone would like me to add you to a Facebook group then PM me and I'll vouch for any Texags people.

Yes, there are cigars that are just as good or better out of the Dominican and other areas and I have my favorites with those just like Cubans.

Does anyone know a place to get cigars around Lake Jackson? I'll be driving today from Bay City back to Surfside.

This is not for the cigar pass so I'm not as picky, just having some friends over and wanting to pick up a few to have on hand

I use the CRA app or website (http://www.cigarrights.org/great_american_cigar_shops.php) to help find local cigar shops that are helping to protect the industry and our right to smoke.

If you're not a member of CRA, you should look into it.

(Unfortunately, there don't appear to be any member shops in the Lake Jackson area)

There is a tobacco shop in Bay City, Texas Tobacco (3625 7th St, Bay City, TX 77414) - I drive past all the time, and one guy on our lease stops in for his Macanudos, but I haven't personally seen their selection.

I was having trouble finding a place around Lake Jackson as well.

Didn't know about the one in Bay City - that's just down the street from my office. I'll swing by there at lunch.

The only Behike I'd recommend is the BHK 52. It's been a consistently good smoke, but very expensive. All the others are just way overpriced disappointments in my opinion.

There are way better CC's for a lot less than any of the Behike's so I always pass for cheaper and to me better cigars. Since they're the most expensive ones in production people still buy them up because of the hype.

Yes, I've seen them pretty frequently for sale in the Facebook groups.

For point one if you don't put a name (or specifically a texags name) they wont't know who sent them even with a return address
