Local land owners don't really want it, however BRA already has ownership of the vast majority of the land required. It is just leased back to the original owners.
Yep, I know a lot about that project as it's in my line of business and I know at least one board member on BRA. I honestly don't see it happening, even if BRA wants it to happen. COH and Centerpoint aren't in a hurry for it.

Cancelled the weekend at the coast for Mother's Day, worried about getting back from Rockport to Katy if the river gets crazy.

I'm seeing forecasts of 3"-5" for the west side.

Fishing Thursday in Rockport before it gets crazy, should be back to the house Friday by lunch

Id love to talk. Ive considered ways to help simonton and the surrounding area and have been working with fbco drainage, and local mayors. the next step would be to talk with bra and coe leadership.

ABC was saying parts of Fort Bend county have seen over 6 inches. Saying Kingwood and areas north east already has over 10 inches.

Of my brother and his wife, sisters, and parents, only my parent's house has power (in sand creek). One sister just made it home in the front of kingwood and my dad is trying to get to the back and home.

I remember one time around 2000 when I had to jump the curb on LHP near creekwood middle to wait out high water, but it seems like the streets flood almost every rain now.

Also a friend (Dr. Doctor) seemed to have water coming up in his backyard at the back of sandcreek/Kingwood.

I'm in Kingwood and we got 10" of rain on top of a saturated ground. The idiots on FB can't seem to grasp that concept.

So there is a significant spike in Brazos at Richmond over last 2 hours. Does it help that all this water is on river headed out to the bay versus up river coming towards SW Houston?

I'm just across the Brazos River from Sugar Land off of 59. Rained harder here than during Harvey. Radar shows were in 10-12" rainfall bullseye since just this afternoon and still raining. I've poured out over 10" so far - don't know how much I've missed with 5" rain gauge full and overflowing

Not really as the entire stretch of the Brazos River and everything that drains into it is saturated, plus runnoff is still coming into the brazos at almost every point. This week is going to be miserable and absolutely ****ty

So far looks like it's just cattle moving time, again.

If the upcoming rains are more significant then I can't even comprehend what I will do. I don't think I can take a 3rd 100 year flood in 3 years and 6 50 year floods in 4. We just rebuilt for the 4th time (1 was a tornado, or 'micro burst'.

Cbr you get all of the cattle moved?

All that concrete and the floods will be worse. In Dripping Springs it's never flooded downtown but 4 inches and new development meant wall of water.

It will level off and has it now at 46.5' crest.

REMINDER all river forecasts have ONLY 24 hrs of rainfall forecasts built in.

That water is flowing fast to Rosharon and will back up some, however it will likely only radiate around the gauge and Richmond area. Hempstead is cresting and San Felipe is about 12-18 hours of water flow upstream and showing no major changes in levels.

This is the Memorial Day floods in 2015 only down stream from San Felipe.

We just need to hope the rain holds off up north for a few days
fightingfarmer09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep. If we can get the flow down it won't be too bad.

I think it is easy to look at the gauges online and have a picture in your mind of where the water will be. But often where the run off is and where it is beginning to stack up makes every flood different.

We have had 46' in Richmond floods with no water in the pasture, and we have had 44' floods be terrible.

Hope cbr doesn't get it too rough. I should get him and a few other guys to put together a book of dealing with Brazos floods.

Yeah, Greatwood is over 10, my in laws at pecan grove are over 11. We are 5 miles north and only at 2.5. Going on hour 4 of near constant lightning, every 20-30 seconds. Joy.

Dripping springs has never flooded downtown? Now there's a wall of water after 4"? What, was there a 6" initial abstraction before development?
