At 6 pm, I was driving home. About a mile from my house, my truck was reading a temp of 106. By the time I got home, it was 93. Currently 85.

I can see rain from my house, but nothing has hit my yard yet.

Better wrap those pipes and bring in your tender vegetation!

Finally getting some much needed rain here in Beeville. Looks like George West and Three Rivers are about to get a good rinse as well.

This is my apartment complex in Lafayette, LA. It's about four feet deep there in most places... Haven't seen flooding like this since the Guadalupe in '98...

assuming light flow what's the most a full size pickup can take in terms of low water crossings? 3ft? does it matter if it's lifted?

No way in hell would I go into 3 foot deep water if it had any type of current. Cruising the hood today i could feel my rear end loosen up a couple of times in about 12"-16" of water with a mild current.

Standing water would be a different story, but it would also depend on the vehicle. A vehicle that is more of an offroad/mud vehicle and it may be different.

Years ago, I saw a pickup get swept off a bridge in no more than three feet of water. I guess the driver must have got out somehow because nobody really seemed to get excited about it and I never heard anything in the news about someone drowning after being swept off that bridge. Maybe he got out while it was still rising, but even current at one foot can be deadly to a human on foot.

Southwest side. Near Kaliste Saloom/E Broussard intersection. Highlands Apartments. Headed back there shortly to survey the damage, see if my car in the garage survived, etc...

Got well over an inch in Calallen yesterday afternoon - desperately needed. Maybe the Frio and Nueces watersheds will get a ton. Corpus lake capacity is kissing 40%.

I've had more rain in the last 2 hours (about half an inch) than I've had in the last 2 months.

I thought this thread would truly be revived these last few days, but it's kind of dead. With all this rain, what gives?

Lakeway has had almost a foot of rain in the last few days. I wanted the rain to lush up the golf courses, but now I hope it stops by Thursday night. There is an event/ 9 hole tourney at the club this weekend, and even if it lets up soon, it might even be too wet to mow by Saturday. At least skip a few days, so we can get in some golf here and there.

Rain all day since Saturday in Round Rock. Not sure how much but I'd guess 3 inches. Very steady and no storms. Never seen this in 20 years at my house in August. Yard is totally soaked and the rain is just runoff now.

We're at 6.92" in Pflugerville and counting. I'm not looking forward to the mosquitos in September though.

I haven't seen a mosquito for several months. I sprayed Biffin IT in mid June, about the time the rain stopped. Until this week, we had about .3" of rain and the little buggers had no good places to reproduce. That is now changing and September will be brutal bug wise. I should probably order more killer chems.

I need to find better killer. I use the cutter yard spray but it seems we get just enough rain to wash it away after applied

All it's done here the last few days is rain. A little over 3" was in the gauge on Monday. I'm guessing it's full now, didn't check yesterday because I was afraid of being that far from the toilet. I'm too old and not old enough to think ****ting on myself is acceptable, so I had to hunker down and try to survive yesterday. Damn kids and their petri dish friends at the beginning of school year brought home some stomach bug that laid waste to the schmellba99 household.

7.6" in Gatesville.

We got 2.5" of that in roughly an hour yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen it rain that hard for that amount of time in my short 30 years.
