assuming light flow what's the most a full size pickup can take in terms of low water crossings? 3ft? does it matter if it's lifted?

No way in hell would I go into 3 foot deep water if it had any type of current. Cruising the hood today i could feel my rear end loosen up a couple of times in about 12"-16" of water with a mild current.

Standing water would be a different story, but it would also depend on the vehicle. A vehicle that is more of an offroad/mud vehicle and it may be different.

So the question is would a lift improve your ability to cross 2' of water with mild current.

If it keeps your body panels out of the water, I'd say yes

Thats what is so dangerous. Its hard to judge. I ran the last few people out in my tractor and it was getting squirrelly in about 2.5' of water.... But it was rushing over the road. I dont think any truck shy of a deuce and a half would have made it.

Later, in about 2', i was surprised to see a 1 ton diesel f350 make it, but it had a lift and narrow tires. A guynwith a 250 on big like 52" tires was too bouyant and almost didnt make it.

The road was tearing up too, so you never kniw if youre going to dip low and be screwed. Bottom lone, dont cross 18" plus of rishing water without a damned good reason even in a big truck.

First time I fished Lake Medina was last year in April/May. Water level was about 3% filled, 90+' low

Just fished it last weekend. 100% filled and water was running over the spillway!

April 2015 - 3.2% full, ~8200 acre feet of water
June 2016 - 100+% full, ~263,300 acre feet of water

So what does La Nina mean for Texas? Back to hot/dry summers and warm/dry winters? Drought again?

Hopefully for a few months minimum.

I think a La Nina caused 2011. Not sure though. I don't want that again with half the state on fire and 110 degree temps in Houston.

We made good crops in 2011. It's tough, but thinking this amount of rainfall for extended periods of time is beneficial is naive. We are looking at another potential disastrous crop in most of the state. Combine that with poor commodity prices, we would gladly take 3-4 months with minimal rainfall.

More active Atlantic hurricane season, Texas strike a little more likely.
Rain less likely. We'll probably be running the sprinklers before long.

Naive for who? The people whose 3000 homes burned? The firefighters killed? The 4MM acres burned?

Any severe weather is not good.

Weather is not perfect for everyone. But I would say the towns running out of water is mostly self inflicted

And man California barely got anything from the rain that has inundated the country the last year and half

Yeah all those tiny panhandle and north Texas towns sure sucked all the lakes dry.

I'm not talking about cities and suburbs.
Yea and I'm not either. most of those tiny towns allow water wells. If people would plan for themselves a little better it would take a lot of pressure off the reservoirs. O but we gotta fill that swimming pool in the summer though right?

Some of the people in those towns had wells. And they ran dry.

Ive spent the better part of two weeks away from my work sscraping dead cows, skunks, racoons, fish, trees, garbage and muck out of my place, and the damned brazos is still well over 40'. It really hasnt been below about 35 except for a couple of weeks all year. For the prior 6 years, it was 8-10, and i freaked out when it got to 15 a couple of times, because my beach was under water. Give me at least another couple of years of that please.

We have just gotten into our pastures as well. Lots of hay from upstream to haul out. Officially got laid off last week, too much rain in the last two years leading to a drastic decline in fertilizer/ag chemical sales was the reason given. Plenty of time to rebuild fence I guess.

My corn rep came by today, and said don't expect corn to go down anytime soon. Said most of their suppliers lost all their crop.
