And I'd say the tall runs like a 35 length. Not a 36 though. If that's your min requirements, they are too short. Best bet is probably the Attacks from KUIU and hem to your length.

Awesome, thanks. I may order the tall, give them a try and return them if they're too short. Appreciate you being a sounding board. Thanks for all the advice/input.

I recommend Carhartt overalls. Roll around where you burned. Smear chainsaw bar oil all over your overalls, roll around on the ground a few times. Eventually you will have a very neutral color, and borderline waterproof. When they start shifting from brown, to grey, to whitish, then they are so soft they are magically quiet.

They also make great skiing attire.

ursus, I've gone full circle and now I'm just considering laying in their wallow all Rambo style, and then at the last second popping one eye open, watching them freak out and then cutting their throat while pinning them down and whispering, "shhhhhhhhhh... just go to sleep...."

Send me the check and I'll send you pics of the goods when they arrive on my doorstep.

Give me a minute. I'm going to see what a "picture of the goods" means in the Urban Dictionary.

I may opt for cash and no pic.

I'm a Sitka fan. Expensive- yes. Overpriced- maybe. If your own a pair you will enjoy the heck out of it. that said, I don't own a jacket but plan to buy one in the next year or so.

So I couldn't help myself and ended up purchasing four different pieces when it was all said and done. Unfortunately the Guide Jacket and Guide Beanie were just delivered last night.

1. Guide Jacket - Absolutely loved it. It's by far the lightest, quietest, and best fitting jacket I've ever owned. It's waterproof and warm enough to handle most of the hunting we do in Texas. I'd recommend a heavier jacket for sub temps, but for 90% of the season I'll be wearing this jacket.

2. Guide Gloves - Light weight, amazing grip, and extremely durable. I love the fit and I expect this glove to last a very long time. You'll definitely want the merino base if you hunt in really cold temps because these gloves are not that thick. I've always hunted with insulated leather gloves, so pretty much everything is an upgrade for me.

3. Guide Beanie - Returning it. Wasn't impressed at all with the look or feel of it. Maybe others have had luck with theirs, but I'm sticking with my Cabelas fleece beanie for now.

4. Icon Cap - It's ridiculously light weight and flimsy. It reminds me of one of those runners caps, but with that said, it'll dry much faster than a normal hat and it'll pack up and store away much easier.

Overall - I was very impressed. The wait was the worst part ... but the gear, combined with the price is hard to beat.

What size did you get in the guide jacket? Is there plenty of room to layer? Been thinking of purchasing the jacket as well.

I'd get at least 1 size bigger than you normally wear. I wear am xl the shirt and have a xxl guide jacket. Its not a loose fitting jacket but it fits.

My experience with Simms, Sitka and Kuiu is identical. You don't have a clue as to the size you will need until you put the article on. Order the size you normally wear and don't hesitate to return it for another.

I agree and that just seems soooo strange to me from an upper-end clothing manufacturer. But what do I know I've not been "upper end" at any point in my life. No consistency in the fit at all.

Also, you (OP) might not like that "flimsy" hat but it's freaking awesome when you're actually trudging around on a mountain and working hard. You want something that really breathes. I love the old school camo Whataburger hat that I got from JamesT83 but it doesn't breathe well. But I was wearing it when I killed the biggest muley of my life, so it's staying!!

If/when it's colder I do love a wool beanie hat, but I wear a underarmour skull cap under it (like you see football players wear under their helmets). It has a mesh top and when I'm moving around the beanie comes off and I go in just the skull cap so my head doesn't sweat up.
