Displayed behind glass at Soda Springs, ID, one of the horse-drawn Yellowstone Tour coaches. This one was supposedly used by Teddy Roosevelt when he visited Yellowstone.

A common practice on rail lines that weren't profitable enough to run steam engines was to make a rail car from old cars or trucks. For some reason these were were known as a Galloping Goose. This one ran between Soda Springs and Conda.

The grow really big potatoes in Idaho. (1941-1947 Chevy "Art Deco" COE truck)

At Dinosaur National Monument, we saw a Really Big RV from Germany. Almost looks like Afrika Corps markings on the front fender.

And also at Dinosaur, we saw a really, really small RV.

Ridgeway, Colorado, in addition to having several True Grit filming locations (John Wayne version) has a pretty neat railway museum with narrow gauge equipment.

Including another Galloping Goose.

This one is actually a faithful reproduction of the original, though the rest of the "Geese" from the Denver and Rio Grande are still around. It and the original were built from old Buicks, 1926 model, I think.

I thought this little gas-powered rail car was interesting. Apparently has a water-cooled "Fairmont" engine.

In Ridgeway was a Hot Rod shop called "God's Rods". Looks like God has several works in progress. Figures, I think most of us are God's works in progress.

And some sort of Sno-Cat maybe?

My biggest miss in Silverton, Colorado was on Memorial Day. There was a WWII half-track parked in front of the local VFW and several guys in old uniforms. By the time we took a rest stop and went back, they were gone and I couldn't find a trace. But there were still several old cars in town.

Then when the fun was over, we stopped in Albuquerque for business for a couple of days. I always see weird automotive stuff in ABQ. Such as the one below....why would you put "Prius" badging on your junky little Toyota?????

Google agrees with you. I guess it's a good photo anyway because you don't see many 1st Gen Priuses (Prii?)

Great pics, as always, Canyon.

And yeah, it's a Gen1 prius. The liftback design that we normally attribute to the Prius came in Gen2.
