About to finish the OG game. I have really enjoyed it, but my only complaint is that weapons customization and unlocks weren't really ever critical to progressing in the game. I played on hard for some of the beginning, but switched to normal after. Maybe that's why. Most of my gear is not the greatest and I didnt feel like I had to have every armor suit for different situations like I would in a game like Breath of the Wild. I didnt feel like I had to ever use any of the traps or shock arrows or ...really anything but the hardpoint arrows once I got a really jacked bow.

I end up having a bunch of random mods, a bunch of metal scraps left over, and mostly medium tier gear and had no problem finishing the game.
The OG has 1 armor that is the best by far and it takes a while to get it. Gotta search around for the unlock components. They took it away from us at the start of FW it was so OP lol.

Is it a result of the quest about the armory where you have to find all the different power cores? I didnt complete that one. I found 3 of the 6 power cores, i think. Figured it was something like that.

Are you saying that Forbidden West I can load my character from OG and keep my stuff? Cool if so.
All I ever wanted was a Black Grand National

That was the quest. Its an armor which has a a auto refilling exo shell that will eat damage before hitting your life bar. Thing was invaluable for some of the later fights.

As for loading in, no, they just explain it away on the opening scene saying Aloy had a rough trip and "lost" all her previous gear except her spear.

That armor is still better than any in FW due to the power shield so pretty much 99% of people would have not used anything else if they let us keep them.

Did it ever explain where she was at the beginning? ZD is Colorado and Utah, Frozen Wastes is Wyoming, and we know she didn't go west.

Put close to 100 hours in this and finally beat it, though I still have about 15-20% more side things to complete. Can't wait to see what they do with part 3, and hope we don't have to wait on PS6 for it to come.

Part 3 funny thought (spoiler)

Sylens didn't take the shuttle, so they have that! The Far Zenith ship orbiting in space. "Horizon: Lost in Space. Space machines!.

My guess is the inevitable addon will be the capture of Hephaestus, and then we'll get a sequal of Horizon: Nemesis

Keeping it super simple but one of the key things of both games has been the self replicating/production the machines can do with the help of the AI. I would bet that in Horizon3 there is the thought of using the AI and cauldrons to stop making machines are start making (rebuilding?) civilization items like power plants, habitats, etc...

And the people will have to decide to once and for all shut it all down and stay primitive or use the technology to enhance their way of life.

No need for a playable part, but it would be interesting seeing them returning Mothers Heart cradle back in to a learning facility, now that they have Apollo

Well..they don't have it yet. It's up on the orbiting space station and last time we tuned in, nobody on the ground knows how to launch a shuttle and fly it up to dock it (unless it's all automated).

Sylens seemed pretty confident when he was about to take it for a spin

I'm currently level 30 something and I'm loving this game. While I am progressing one thing I havent received many of are quality coils for weapons modifications. I can take down a slitherfang or a thunderjaw and the loot seems to be lacking compared to what I would get from HZD. Any advice on getting better coils?

There are a few legendary ones you can buy in the Arena with medals that are like 3% chance for instant elemental effect. The best purple ones I've seen appear to be capped out at 25% improvement to something and have come from either big machines, quests, or chests.

I really like this game. I went through a huge chunk of it, including a bunch of side quests, on Hard without ever upgrading armor and minimal purchase of weapons. Now I'm dying every 2 seconds so have to go back and get some more stuff.

I'm not good at keeping track of upgrades, food, or coils/weaves.

You can create jobs for things you want to craft or buy. As far as coils, you just gotta check your loot every so often.

Moving over from the Elden Ring thread, trying to decide which game i'll go to next. I'm afraid of reading this thread and seeing spoilers.

Can someone reply to me with the board's consensus on it?

It's an awesome game, period. I can't vouch for Elden Ring because I haven't played it and don't plan to due to my incompetence with Bloodborne. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my favorite 3 PS4 games, and possibly my favorite. This is an incredible sequel that takes everything from the first game up a notch. It's a lot of fun, and it's a huge game so it will fill up your calendar before you know it.

I'm in the same boat as DallasTeleAg - just finished Elden Ring after originally starting this one and getting to the actual Forbidden West before putting it down and getting sucked into that game. Looking forward to a different style of challenging combat with some characters that actually speak.

I am two trophies away from the Platinum. Win the last "race (I already know who "Red teeth" is)...and beat the "pit boss" legendary fighter in the melee combat side missions.

I didn't do much melee during the actual game, but the training pits are obnoxious on how precise you have to be to score the higher difficulty combos. As for the race, it's just a lucky grind to get the win.

Just realized after getting killed by the same giant beast over and over again that I never bothered to change or upgrade my armor. Small oversight.

I have no idea how far along in the game I actually am in terms of the main quest, but I will probably need to find some new outfits and actually apply the weaves I've collected.

And I'm sorry, even though the Uturu armor is probably the best I have in my inventory right now, she looks freaking stupid in it and I refuse to have her put it on.

I'm having a ton of fun. It's a great game.

The visuals are amazing, especially the textures of things like rocks and other terrain.

So I have played this for a little while and for some reason I'm bored with it. I think it looks amazing but honestly I'm beaten down already and I'm thinking about swapping it for Elden Ring. I just can't get up to play it really. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, it's just not appealing to me for some reason. Anyone else think this?

I'm about to start the Death's Door level so I'm almost maybe to the mid point of the story part of the game? It just reminds me of assassins creed which I played 150% of odyssey (everything possible) and so it feels very "Been there done that" like to me.

You aren't even a quarter of the way into the story. Lots of stuff starts to unfold as soon as you do this quest.

I'm not all that far into it, but I think the novelty is gone from the HZD and it isn't as fun to basically repeat a lot of what you were doing in that one. Story arc in HZD was so crazy because you weren't sure what was going on, either. Kept you interested. Not as much mystery in this one.

So this weekend I had to battle an Apex Thunderjaw from the ground vs being able to snipe it from up high...not easy. That took a long time and was stressful. In other news the Snappershell is probably my least favorite new machine. The Dreadwing is tough, but I don't find it unfair necessarily unfair. The Snappershell can burrow, launch huge iceballs at you multiple times in succession, shoot at you, and jump at you. They might have overtaken the Rockbreaker as my least favorite machine to fight. Taking a pause from the main story to improve some weapons and outfits.

The side quests seem to be much longer in this game vs the original. Even a small side quest has multiple parts and locations to complete, I'm not complaining, there's so much content here. I've put in a bunch of hours and have a lot of territory that I haven't even been to yet. Every time I try to just do some exploring I end up going down a rabbit hole.

I love this game.
