If you can beat the sithlord, then keep going through the capital, much easier then parts of caelid imo.

Just depends on when you fight him, what build you are, etc.

I always thought the same about Margit. I one shotted him, and hadn't looked up anything online, so was amazed when he seemed to be the first wall people ran into.

I also fought Radahn much later in the game, so killed him in 3 tries. I have a hard time believing you one shotted Radahn, because just getting to him for the first time is a bit of a learning experience.

Margit messed me up pretty bad. So did Godric. Even now when I met clone Margit I got jacked up again.

Redmane castle wasn't all that difficult from where I ported in and dealt with two lion guards one at a time. Then I just strolled in to the festival and saw I was getting sniped at by him. Those purple shots took maybe 25% of my hp away and I saw I could hide behind cover so that wasn't too bad. Once I had spawns up I just played hit and run on Torrent the whole time. Apparently he shoots arrows? He never shot any at me.

You probably came in pretty overleveled. If you fight radahn >lvl 80 you'll **** him up

Anyone know how ****ing big the underground area is? I'm getting close to astel now but been to Deep root depths, and the two places where you light the pillars.

This game is massive!

No joke. I'm 50+ hours in and <20% completed.

I forgot to go back to Ranni to complete her side quest until today. The key she gives you and how that plays out is really cool. There are so many things I love about this game.

My second playthrough has been with a str/faith character. I'm loving this patch. Lotta Faith incantations got some much needed love.

I am doing a dex build this go around and was already gonna do a 2nd playthrough a different way.

Now I'm torn between doing an arcane class, a holy paladin type build, or channeling Guts and smashing **** with a giant 2H.

That's why my 2nd play through will be as a wretch, so I can respec every point later in the game if desired.

Went ahead and made a wretch and set them up for a Guts build. Snuck over to Caelid to get the guts sword off the wagon. I hit like a truck and don't even have good talismans on this dude yet.

On my original character, just completed the Lake of Rot and killed Astel. Eff that whole part of the game. Terrible design to have a disease that builds in like 3 seconds and wrecks you badly after. I was eating boluses like m&m's.

I didn't learn until I completed lake of rot, but there is an incantation that removes it, which would make the area much easier.

If you have the mushroom gear, it really helps. That, and follow the right patch to raise the platforms.

I had no issue with the lake of rot.

That incantation helps, and also keep a weapon with the bloodhound step ash of war on it. It makes getting through those sections much easier

I thought that area of the game would be my least favorite, but there's a couple more that were worse for me. I love the design of Astel. Great payoff for that crazy series of rabbit holes you climbed down into.

I think Valley of Defilement from Demon's Souls might still be my least favorite set of areas in any of these games. The first zone is full of precarious catwalks and enemies who really want to knock you off of them. The next zone is a huge poison swamp with an insane gauntlet to unlock a shortcut to the boss (only checkpoints were defeated boss rooms in that game). And the last area isn't so bad, but to explore it fully you have to traverse a no-run, no-roll, bloody swamp full of babies.

Went back in looking like a fungus and with the incantation so I could scavenge the rest of the items I ignored on the first pass.

I don't even think Blighttown is the worst area of DS1 lol. Tomb of the Giants might be my least favorite area in the entire series. Still love me some DS1 though.

Finally beat Godrick last night. LVL 45. Probably took 10-15 tries. I think my first shot I was around LVL 35 or so. Did a lot of exploring in between tries when I realized I just wasn't strong enough yet.

Congrats, now you've made it through maybe 5% of the game!

Seriously...I keep playing this and keep finding new stuff to keep me distracted. Either upgrading weapons, Spirit ashes, flasks, or just exploring and finding new stuff. It's crazy how big this game is.

Game is ridiculously big. I'm 25+ hours into it and I have only beaten Godrick. I haven't even finished exploring all of the weeping pennisula at this point. I just found one of those bell tower things and I feel like there are still big parts of the game mechanics that I've yet to uncover or unlock.

Absolutely. I think Blighttown's series of scaffolding and ledges is more readable than Valley of Defilement's, and VoD's poison swamp is way worse than Blighttown's. Mostly because the path through it is extremely long, and full of rough enemy encounters if you try to avoid getting poisoned. No checkpoints at all in the swamp, and you don't open the shortcut until you've made it all the way through it.

Some really good awful areas in these games.

Fyi, if you are experiencing regular lag spikes on Windows 10 / 11, this fixed it for me :

https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t8810q/elden_ring_lowers_gpu_and_cpu_usage_for_a_split/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

>>>
Yeah I'm having the exact same issue. I played 100 hours without any problems and then seemingly when 1.0.3 released, I started seeing this double lag spike every 60-90 seconds, sometimes more often. I know mine is tied to device manager randomly refreshing itself in that interval. If I have device manager open and play the game, I can see device manager refresh AS the first lag spike happens. it's always a pair, and they last like 2-3 seconds each. Super annoying.

I did find mention of this today and I'm trying it now. Will report back if it works. Fingers crossed.

Reddit user u/CrossbowJohnson has found another possible solution to fix stuttering in Elden Ring. Apparently, Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator can cause problems, and it should be disabled. Just make sure to enable it back again when you are not playing Elden Ring. Here's how to disable/enable it from your desktop screen."

My second playthrough has felt like a revenge tour, and I love it. Finished Ranni's quest line, and now I'm finally roaming around Altus and crushing enemies.

The latest patch was fantastic. Lion's Claw is amazing. I have it on the Great Stars right now and it flattens opponents.

The improvements to incantations have felt great. Like Lansseax's Glaive and Fortissax's Lightning Spear are actually usable in combat since you have increased poise while casting them.
