I chose a Bandit. Need to better understand the mechanics, so taking it slow. Cleared two dungeons and the first encampment you come to. Enjoying it so far, but I recently played through Bloodborne, so I need to get used to this new parry mechanic.

Bandit doesn't have a large shield, so blocking doesn't do much. Also enjoying bow and arrow.

Doing a faith build, so I chose the prophet class. I'm glad they let you use multiplayer right away in this game.

I started as I think astronomer, started over as wretch. Of course now I can't get anything to drop a breastplate so I'm still running around with no shirt on after my first character getting several breastplates from mobs.

Haven't decided which way to go with the character. So far I've just upped str and dex enough to use shields and crossbow.

Liking the game so far I guess, except for the clunky controls and that I had to adjust a setting to show me the keyboard keys instead of controller buttons to do certain actions. Im playing on PC...though it would know that.

This game does not support 3440 x 1440?

Apparently i need a 3rd party app for this that i need to disable anti cheat for so I cant play online and widescreen at the same time?

In 2022?

Not what I expected from a AAA game. Requested a refund.

You're playing the game on mouse and keyboard?

I would never play an action RPG that way. Controls would be a pain in the ass. Go buy an Xbox controller and use that.

It's not AAA. From are indie darlings. They make the best gameplay but their games aren't the best technologically.

I recommend you continue playing until you swear it's the best thing you've ever played.

Yes.

I can't imagine playing this on mouse and keyboard. First person games on Mouse and keyboard. 3rd person games on controller.

I mean, dark souls remastered supports UWS, why did they just say **** it for this game?

probably explains why i sucked so bad at Shadows of Mordor on PC, but i was really good at it on xbox.

Their remasters are outsourced.

From Software games are never the most technically amazing games. It is the level design and exploration that makes them so great, imo. I like the combat, but even that is not revolutionary. Although, I do think Sekiro's combat is fantastic.

I'm enjoying the hell out of the game, now. I just beat the Tree Sentinel after many tries to understand his move set.

That's another reason why newcomers probably tend to get frustrated. From Software wants you to learn what to do, for yourself. Other games will pause the fight and say, "hey, look at that thing on his head. Maybe you should try shooting it!". From Software games just throw you in and make you attempt the bosses at least a few times to actually know how to beat them.

Another tip: The difficulty slider in this game is summoning others for help. The multiplayer interface in this game is unique, so you may want to wiki how to do that.

There are wikis for these games that are comprehensive and indispensable. Those for Elden Ring may not be fully fleshed out yet, but they are already there and being updated.

Smithing your weapon increases your damage output FAR more than increasing your damage stat(s), but you need the right stones, which are limited and consumable. I put my first ten levels into Vigor (health) and Endurance (Stamina and equip load).

I'm Fedaykin98 on Xbox. If anyone sees me online and wants to party chat for some tips, hit me up! I've beaten all the previous games.

I'm doing a spellcaster build.

Does anyone have some advice on how much Mind I should get? My FP pool seems a little small, but investing Mind doesn't seem to increase my FP much. Right now it's about 1 Mind gives me 3 FP.

My Intelligence is at 30, and my damage feels good. I'm going with 2 health pots and 4 FP pots. There's a lot of chances to replenish my pots, so I'm on the fence if I need more FP or just rely on pots.

I've actually never played a spell caster in a From game. I need enough to blast some specific things to help in boss fights, but that's about it.

I'm enjoying how powerful bows can be. Also, choosing the Imps as a starting castable support turned out to be a great choice for the Bandit. So glad I randomly chose that. They add bloodloss on attack, as do i; so we can get some great dps going on enemies. This particular mechanic is one of the main reason I could beat the Tree Sentinel.

I do wish there was a way to dual wield daggers and still parry. That would be a great mechanic and allow me to play how I would like to.

I just got sent offshore and going skiing the day after I get back, so I'm going to have to wait a little longer.

Damn.... was going through a new ravine and got invaded by a dual dagger wielding MFer who stacked bloodloss like a boss, and threw some sort of skill that applied bloodloss.

Beat him. Now i have his baddass dagger and am dual wielding daggers. Holy ever loving crap, I am wrecking shop. My Fanged Imp Ashes and my dual wielding of bloodloss applying daggers are just shredding into some of these early bosses. So freaking awesome.

Beat the watchdog in the Stormfoot Catacombs, which was my first boss win. Gave a few attempts at the one on the way to Stormveil (forget the name), but still need to boost up a bit, so went exploring, ended up in a whole new area.

Also lost power for a few hours, so lost some game time. Was in the middle of clearing a camp, but hopefully it saved at least some of that. Will find out once the basketball game is over

It should return you to approximately where you were with dead enemies dead, as long as your save didn't get corrupted. Good luck!

Unfortunately, it somehow wiped all my progress. Probably thanks to the cloud save feature.

Luckily, I was able to get where I was before fairly quickly. Still just exploring now, seeing how far I can get at my current level

I'm loving the exploration. Finding hidden paths behind castles leading to Golden seeds and such.

I'm having a blast with this game. Got myself a +7 Spear from our buddy, Patches, as well as some nice leather armor. Now I have my dual wield option, or swap to spear if I need some more distance. I was also able to purchase a dagger with the Parry action, so I could technically dual wield and still parry.

Im assuming youre being cheeky. This is, and was marketed as a AAA game. It was the most hyped game for this entire year. For it to not have ultra wide screen support at launch, when someone, outside of the development team, could easily do it a day or two after launch, is absolutely ridiculous.

I do think the game is good. I will never purchase it unless it supports the monitor I spent a lot of $ on specifically for gaming (UWS + Gysnc) is ridiculous.

This is not the first game they have created. If they are going to be lazy, and cap frame rates and prevent 16:9, I guess Ill just be equally as "lazy" and not buy their game.

Not being cheeky at all. This is an indie game with Bandai Namco distribution and an amazing pedigree. Unfortunately, From is not remotely known for their technical prowess. I for one would love if ER had crossplay, but I'm guessing it never will.

From spends their time on level design over technical bells and whistles. I'm okay with it.

Finally beat the first boss at the gates of the castle. Have explored a couple other regions after happening into some secret passages into them… quite a lot going on all over the place… can't wait to piece together some more of the lore on who all the different factions are fighting with each other.

I'm at 33 hours played, from Friday until tonight, and I finally beat Godrick.

... and then I find out there are 5 more shard bearers I can kill! Wow... that game is going to a take a while. Stormveil castle was bigger than Cainhurst, from Bloodborne. Also, you definitely want to explore vertically, in this game. So many ledge running and jumping to get some cool items around the castle. I found an really cool claw weapon, but kind of pissed because I can't dual wield it with my daggers.

I'm not quite at that many hours, but I think I spent about 10-12 just exploring the map before finally beating both bosses at Stormveil and went on to Raya. The sheer size is incredible, and it's nice to have so many other things to do if you get stuck on a boss.

It only took me two years, but I have officially beat the first boss in Sekiro. Figure I will be ready for Elden Ring sometime around 2040.

My goodness, this game is gonna be massive. I totally wasn't expecting it to be this big.

I've got about 20 hours I think. Beat Godrick Saturday night. Magic seems really strong early on. Plus, the ability to summon help on bosses is great. I have my demi human bonk squad at +3. I'm so bad at melee combat, so I have no shame being a mage haha.

Hopefully, I can find some new spells soon. I've been just using Pebble, Slicer, and Arc. They're effective, but it would be fun to get some new useful ones. The other spells I've obtained are pretty terrible.

If I was still working from home, I'd be completely useless since I'd be on this game all day. Can't wait to play more, it's fantastic.

Wow... if feel stupid.

I have purposefully avoided videos about this game and such, leading up and during my playthrough. And because From Software sucks, and likes to not tell us anything, I had no idea Ashes of Ware could be applied and removed at will. I thought they were permanent, so I wasn't using them. I was hoarding them because I figured I would wait for my end game weapons before wasting them.

Damn... i'm about to have a lot more fun, getting to play with some of my awesome Ashes of War...

I feel you, I wasn't using summons for a while at first because I wasn't sure if I'd lose them after using them lol. Honestly I haven't used ashes of war either because I'd been using the unique bleed dagger and you can't put ashes on it.

Pretty good night for me… finished off the castle, unlocked the rune and started exploring the next region.

Then decided to try out the claws I found I think in the castle… when you two hand them you get a claw in each hand and go full Wolverine… applies bleed super fast. With that new toy leveled up to +6 I promptly went to the lake and took out the dragon there. May need to play with ashes of war on the claws tomorrow!
Lathspell

I found that claw, as well, but haven't found a second. I am still dual wielding my starting dagger and Reduvia. I also found a great spear that applies bleed and does great dmg.

I am also working on finding Smithing Stones to upgrade another dagger I found, with a fantastic Crit dmg.

It is astounding how many nooks and crannies there are in Stormveil Castle. I have spent several hours platforming around, and finding secret areas and rooms with great gear. Found a cool head piece that adds Vigor, my new spear, and the crit dagger, among so much more.

I do wish it was easier to farm Smithing stones. I try to go to the first cave where they drop and kill the rock miners, but they never drop any stones.

You don't need a second claw, just wield the one as a two hander and you get one in both hands automatically.
