Mine arrived today and I'm using it now. They shipped it way faster than they estimated when I signed up.

Once you place the order for the dish, order the accessories you need now - the permanent mount you will use and router adapter if you will use a separate router. Mine isn't shipping until March because stuff is back ordered.

The new Starlink modem does t have an Ethernet port to attach a router to. You either need to buy their adapter or use a Wi-Fi extender style device.

Getting excited. Been waiting for this service since it was initially rumored 5 years ago. Account says availability in March, hopefully that holds.

As mentioned above there are no ports on the router. I run a mesh network so I need the adapter.

The Starlink router itself is actually really nice looking. It will end up in my networking closet but if you leave it out it's not an eyesore.

I forget when we signed my folks up for the invite/service last year, but it was within the week it was all announced. They received their package last week, and officially have it up and running. They live in rural West Texas so this is literally their first legit internet service above and beyond what they've been getting from a spotty Verizon hotspot. They are pulling on average 200+ download speeds with Starlink.

After we signed them up, we never heard anything for the longest time, and then eventually the package showed up, so for those waiting and hoping keep it up, it looks like you aren't waiting in vain!

That's a big part of it. I sent my invitation to my brother who lives in a rural area. He runs out of bandwidth on his satellite internet and then cellular hotspot every month. That **** would drive me crazy!

Even for those of us that have good internet at home already, the possibility of having wifi coverage everywhere is very intriguing. I work in a rural area and it's often impossible to do anything more than make voice calls on my phone, because Verizon has had the same ****ty cell service out here for 20+ years and they have the best coverage of any carrier. Having wifi access on my phone virtually everywhere would be great.

ah, I didn't realize the wifi everywhere was a part of it. I did look at the site but didn't see a whole lot of info, granted I didn't really dig.

So is it a cellular plan, too? Or would you have a hot spot? How does that aspect work?

I'm assuming it will be available directly to cell phones, but I could be wrong about that part. It'll definitely allow us to set up wifi points on our job sites and easily move them from site to site.

I don't think you can move them around now - I think that's a later feature. Right now it's tied to your location.

My neighbor registered two addresses - one home and one work. His work got picked first and he set it up at home. It kind of worked because his work wasn't that far away but it wasn't consistent. Once he got the invite for the home address he move the equipment registration and it's working fine.

Yeah this is what I was assuming. I had mine delivered to my house (came Monday) but am using it 90 miles away at our camp house. As much as I wanted to hook it up and test it Monday, I did not because I figured they asked me for where I was needing service for a reason.

Your brother needs to get a hotspot that looks like a phone. I have been getting unlimited data that way for about a year an a half now. He can check out these threads...
