Pretty awesome...new single player stuff plus new MP stuff along with a "season" approach to progression. All for free. Seems obvious to me they had a plan all along and the stuff they are giving us for "free" is pretty substantial. If they had presented a lot of this stuff better in the first place people probably wouldn't have gotten so bent out of shape about the loot crates!

Doesn't change the fact that if you aren't into call of duty style run and gun that you have no chance enjoying this game outside of the campaign. The multiplayer is built for quick fingered fat ****s.

So I guess this is kind of answers my question:

I love Star Wars but am not really into the seizure-inducing gameplay that has become all of these FPS games. I played the original COD when they were released on PC but got totally left behind with all of the recent releases. I'd like to think I'm not an old and still have the hand-eye coordination of my youth...but I just can't keep up anymore.

Would I enjoy the campaign enough to justify the purchase?

Can someone explain the starcard system and how you upgrade a card from say, green to blue?

Either get lucky with a crate and get the upgrade there, or use crafting parts.

Crafting a level 1 card doesn't cost much and gives plenty of benefit but just not as much as the level 3 or 4 (blue and purple).

You can do quite well with just a bunch of level 1 cards as it gives you the base skill. The level 2, 3, and 4 skills all give marginal upgrades.

The only problem with level 1 cards is they only count towards 1 point of the trooper or character level so you'll need 10 level 1 cards to open up the 3rd star card slot. This is usually not a problem with troopers but more with heroes or vehicles.

On PC I get horrible rubberbanding (along with the rest of the server) mostly only on Kashyyk. But there's been a night or two where everything was bad.

I really haven't had any of these problems at all. I hear others complaining, but hasn't been an issue for me.

I'm on Xbox and the rubberbanding was terrible a few weeks ago but seems to be fine now.

I really like this game even with the progression issues.

Mine was lagging with every game. One time I was literally running in place.. and would get shot while I couldn't move.

I went into the EA settings and turned off sharing and I haven't had a problem since.

As far as gameplay, heroes vs villains is a lot of fun if you are linked up with someone else. I find myself mostly playing strike when I'm playing alone. Galactic assault is straight up big map call of duty and unenjoyable. This game is missing a traditional conquest mode.

New content patch today. They released the 2 new maps, 2 new heroes, 1 hero starfighter. Multiple balance changes and supposedly fixes the lag issues in big matches.

IIRC....

Palpating got a good boost.....improved health and vastly improved stamina for his lighting attacks

Lando got a boost with his smoke bomb (lightsaber hero's now cannot perform their lunge attacks in it) and his multi-attack card got a range boost

Boba Fett was brought down just a touch with his rockets (still do a lot of damage) and there was something else done to his jet pack refueling but can't remember

Rey's mindtrick ability now doesn't prevent hero's from using their abilities.

Not sure if there was anything else but those were the main ones that jumped out to me.

Yeah Palpatine is hard to use. Hopefully the patch helped out. I haven't got a chance to use him since though. He seems good in close quarters but thats it.

My main issue with the new map is that the Resistance doesn't have an air to counter the First Order tie fighters. That sky speeder thing definitely doesn't help.

Had a guy on the other team last night get like 50 eliminations in a tie fighter before the walkers reached the base.

Chewie got a little boost as well with his crossbow....can't remember how though

Also, I'm pretty sure this goes without saying but zero discussion of the movie on this thread.

There's already a few threads on this board and the entertainment board. Any coorelations you see from the game and episode IIIV I say hold of discussing them until after Christmas and even then use spoiler tags.

Chewie didn't need a boost but I will take it. I would say Chewie is the hero I play best with in HvV.

Apparently I have been going about this all wrong in the attempt to collect points. I have been playing mainly Galactic Assault and the occasional Strike. I finally let my son play BFII after his parent imposed ban from games had ended and he started on Heroes vs Villains (what he typically plaved on BF2015) and he has been playing since Friday and is 2/3 of the rank I am now. I watched him play and he was probably getting triple my score each game. So I jumped on an played HvV and had a similar result. I guess its much easier to spin around as Darth Maul killing everything in site than taking aim with a Cr2.

Question.... is it possible to upgrade the artillery (for example the LAAT and the Tanks). It looks like every vehicle or class can upgrade with the exception of that one.

I really enjoyed bf1 but I just can't seem to get into bf2. For some reason I just don't get the mechanics of this game and can't hit people for crap. I love destiny 1/2, am fairly good at it, and loved the simplified mechanics of bf1 after an adjustment period, but I can't for the life of me do squat in bf2 multiplayer because my aiming and agility is terrible. I've messed with the sensitivity constantly and it doesn't seem to help... too bad because this game is beautiful but I just don't really enjoy it.

I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me and I like it now. I haven't crafted anything at all yet and have over 400 crafting points so what are the best cards to craft with my points? Should I just pick the ones that I want for each class to fill up my 3 spots and then go from there? Or does anyone have some suggestions for me for each class?

Gomer95.... I think the answer depends on your playing style. One way would be to focus on one class so you build up that class to get points quicker, that you could then use to build up your other classes.
As far as what star cards to get... using assault as an example, I upgraded my scan dart because for some reason with this game, its hard to see the other players. So the scan dart helps highlight them. Also, my aim sucks, so its easy to launch an acid grenade at them and collect damage points, and weaken them for when I shoot them. So I bought the acid launcher and then upgraded it.
Really though, the way you increase your class level rank is by crafting everything for that class, and then upgrading it when you can. So if you want to increase your rank, you need to start crafting and then upgrading. Its a very confusing and frustrating system.

I had the same difficulties and believe it is solely the recoil. In Battlefield 1 (BF1), Battlefront, and Destiny, I could aim at someone in the distance, shoot, and get the kill. I throw in BF1 and I'm frequently top 5, great k/d ratio. I put in Battlefront 2 and I'm often last place with more assists than kills.

However, because I own the damn game and it is beautiful, I have given it some time and just altered my strategy--try to stay alive. In Galactic Assault I have really concentrated on defensive positioning, as opposed to my natural tendency of charging in Leroy Jenkins style, and have subsequently improved my game--somewhat. Enough to enjoy it at least. I've been falling more middle of the pack with increased kills.

If you give it time you'll improve.

We've got a Xbox Club, though I haven't teamed up with anyone. I've been busy studying for a test I plan on taking in Jan or Feb.

It just blows my mind that EA/Dice took a fun game that was easily accessible to casual players and followed it up with a grind-it-out slog that punishes less skilled players. Battlefront 2015 was the first FPS I had played in about 10 years as I had mostly given up gaming until this launch. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I did, I found it to be a very enjoyable experience. Most nights I would play for 30-60 minutes after work to take off the edge of the day.

Battlefront 2 on the other hand just doesn't provide the enjoyment that the first one did. Given that I bought the deluxe edition, I'm not ready to really give up on it. However, it is clear that the game was built to focus on microtransactions to speed up the slow progression system. And the choices the developers made don't favor the less skilled players. For instance, in the beta, you could use crafting parts to improve the weapons you unlocked. Now, you have to get kills with the flawed weapon (such as the DC-15LE, which has horrible recoil) to get the attachment to improve the weapon. The better skilled players rack up the kills faster and improve their weapon, which gives them even more of an advantage over the less skilled players with the unimproved weapons.

This game is such a huge disappointment. It will be interesting to see if EA does anything to improve the game given how far behind they are in their sales projections for this title.

The first 50 kils for the DC-15LE does suck to grind. Its a much much better weapon with the recoil attachment. Blast is the best mode for grinding weapon kills imo. But its also a spawn anywhere team deathmatch game which can be frustrating.

I love the officer class. Just unlocked the last gun for it, but what is this RK3 pistol I see some officers with? That's not one of the 4 officer pistols.

It's a lot more fun as you improve the gun you get and with the modifications. What are the best Star cards to have on the 3 normal starfighter classes? I want to be picky on what I craft and get.

This was on sale and I downloaded over the holidays. My gosh. I'm so overwhelmed.

This game runs like **** since the latest big Windows 10 patch. Main problem I'm having is extreme choppiness early on in a match that improves greatly later on in the match. Never had any problems like this before.

Is that from the Intel thing that's going on?

Unlikely as the patch shouldn't affect gaming performance nearly as much as other applications. Most of the early tests I saw showed less than a 5% hit in most instances.

Edit- I'm talking about the emergency Windows security path to deal with the Meltdown exploit.
