I have to hand hold the camera due to the nature of the shoot. It's low light because the ultra sound equipment/screens need to be seen at all times and the bright light from the video reflects off them.

The doctors are practicing nerve blocks on cadavers and I have to move as they move and zoom in and out from them talking and then showing each block.

Is exposure something you can adjust on a video in post-processing?

Again, I'm a noob...so I use auto settings for a lot of my shoots. I'm just getting into manual settings.
Okay, gotcha. Yeah after I posted earlier I was thinking there might be instances where a screen would be more visible in a darkened environment.

It is possible to do some exposure and other adjustments in post-process. I have done that in Lightroom before. I'm sure other video editing software will do that if necessary. I still think a higher ISO is your best bet. I often shoot with ISO set to Auto and set SS and/or f-stop manually.

Gonna sell a lot of gear that I dont use much anymore in the next few weeks.

Canon lenses
Elinchrom lights
Mamiya 645AFD system with 80mm lens. Can accept a Mamiya/Phase One/Leaf digital back or shoot film.
Lots of random things.

Yo is that one of the cameras that used a floppy disc as storage? I used one for work circa 2000.

8 or 9 Elinchrom D-Lite 400s. Great starter lights. Have some small soft boxes and some of the really great big Elinchrom soft boxes. Also have the 27" Elinchrom Beauty Dish - sliver. It is a fantastic light. Think it was the key light here.

Also have the Elinchrom trigger system. Some of the DLites have it built in.

And Pocket wizards.

Have two Elinchrom Rangers with two S-heads. Portable power. Three batteries, but doubt any of the batteries hold a full charge.

Been wanting to get a couple lights. I have cheap starter light, umbrella, and an octabox. Light just isn't that powerful. Would love to be able to power a bigger light outside.

For that, the Rangers are fantastic. They are also kind of indestructible. Use them at the beach, in the sand, etc.

It is a pack and head system so the head has a built in cable that connects to the pack, which powers it. Don't need a separate power source. This was downtown Houston 8 or 9 years ago with a pack with grid for back light and a pack with that 27" beauty dish, I think with the gold deflector.

They are 1000 or 1100 watt/seconds, which is very powerful.

What I like about the pack and head is that the pack will work as a sandbag. The newer lights like the Profoto B1s have the battery and everything in the head, so you have an 8lb weight on the top of a monopod with a modifier like an umbrella or softbox that catches the wind.

The DLites are monoblocks - they need a power source. They are great for a controlled environment - like doing headshots. I bought so many because I would do a big headshot production where I could get 3 different looks at the same shoot without resetting anything.

I bought into the godox system (flashpoint brand variant for the warranty). 2 AD200 Pros and an AD400 Pro. Really impressed with the quality for the price. Also bought lots of Kupo hardware and a Matthew's roller stand for indoor shooting - good stuff!

This thread has been a lot of help as I round out Christmas shopping.

I bought my daughter the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II based upon an earlier recommendation for an affordable point & shoot. She's 12 and it seemed like a good choice for someone totally new to photography. I also bought the Understanding Exposure book. She very much likes art and visualization, so perhaps this will introduce her to a new medium.

I have an older DSLR so maybe photography is something she and I can learn and explore together.

I have an old Canon Rebel T3 that I bought like 10 years ago when I took digital photography at A&M. I am assuming my iphone 11 takes better photos and I never use it so I plan to sell it. It seems insane to me that these are listed for like $200 on Amazon. Are they really worth that much still? I swear I only paid like $400 for it back in the day.

No its not worth that much and no your iPhone does not take better pictures. Sheer size of sensor on your Canon will generate better pictures than highe mp but a smaller sensor on your iPhone.

Has anyone used Really Right Stuff gear? I recently purchased a RRS tripod for hunting/target shooting and was considering buying an L mount bracket for my Nikon Z7 but $185 seems pretty steep for a simple dovetail mounting bracket. It looks pretty slick and seems to integrate fairly seamlessly.

RRS is expensive, but it is also considered some of the best made stuff available.

How cool! Wow, it's hard to believe they are doing away with the special photo tours, but I guess I can kind of see the point.

Oh, and you got to ride to the canyon in a fancy SUV? When I did the Upper Canyon back in 2014, they made us ride there in this! I think it was army surplus, and not from our side.

good job! it's nice when they actually have news/stories on that site. They used to be so good, and have resorted to mostly click bait the last few years.

I've got a BH-55 ballhead and it's silky smooth and built like a tank - had it for years. Used to have some brackets from them as well for my old Canon gear - but really the Chinese stuff is pretty good these days I'm not sure I'd pay the premium for them again.

Been to Antelope Canyon and its definitely a memorable place if you've never been. Sad to see photographer tours go away, but I'd still return regardless if/when I have a chance. Like you mentioned - don't forget to look up...and there's no people up there to get in the way of your shot!

I enjoy taking photographs that others have not or at the very least finding a new view of it and I'm not sure I could do that at Antelope canyon. Its beautiful and the photographs I've seen are amazing, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that getting a photo that others have captured plenty of times over doesn't really remove a huge amount of the appeal FOR ME.

The most unique photos I have are from storm chasing and from when I'm doing field work for my PhD. Then I get to go places that aren't frequented by others. I totally get that this isn't the experience for everyone, but even so I can't say I'm sad to see those photo tours go. YMMV.

I never could make myself pay for RRS equipment when I could buy the same at Kirk Enterprises for a lot less. I bought a lens foot for my Sony 200-600 that is almost identical to the RSS at $40 less. It also has the QD socket in the foot. Kirk also has brackets, etc.

any one here have any advice on the Olympus Om-D e10 Mark 3?

I am looking to upgrade from my Samsung NX 1000 as it can't keep up with my kids and new lenses are harder and harder to come by.

I'm the resident u43 guy here. Used u43 equipment is plentiful and cost effective especially from u43 forum. Never had a bad transaction.

You will want 12-35 f2.8 lumix or 12-40 f2.8 Olympus as your base lens.

U43 platform is neat. Plenty of low cost great lenses from both Panasonic and Olympus and the smaller size is a major plus. And great video capabilities from Panasonic GH line, you can't go wrong.

It's my go to photo gear.

I started using u43 a few years ago almost exclusively. Size and cost was the main driver. I've been very happy with my Olympus om-d 5, especially for travel

Thank you very much for the replies and the tip about the u43 forum. I am looking pretty hard at the Costco kit and will add a lens to it from keh.
