Drafting fifth in a ten-man .5 PPR 1QB 2 Flex league...had been mocking in the 8-10 slot a bit this summer.

Anyone else picking fifth? Anyone you like in the early and mid rounds?

generally speaking...Bijan, Gibbs, and Chase are going consensus top 3

then the manager at #4 has the big decision: Puka or CMC (after 450 touches last season)

JSN is also an option at #5

pick #16 will offer several good RB choices. Then pick #25 is the next WR group: DeVonta, Rashee Rice, Olave, et al

Hoping I can nab Ja'Marr at 5, but guessing he will be gone and I will be looking at CMC or JSN.

JSN hasn't missed a game in his 3 years in the league

I will draft him and this will be the year that changes!

Luther Burden III or Rome Odunze and why?

that's a good question

on Yahoo...Burden's ADP is #58 ; Odunze is #69

I like both of them if they can be a flex or WR3 starter. Would take Burden if I'm drafting for my WR2

Odunze's foot injury from last year is why he's going lower

worth noting...Caleb Williams only completed 58% of his passes last year -- lots of misfires to his WR's

Watch out for Burden's groin injury. Those tend to linger

I still can't decide on my two keepers. This is what I see are my two options:

Option 1:

Keep Pickens for a 6th
Keep Loveland for a 10th
Draft an elite WR at the end of Round 1, maybe St Brown
Draft an elite RB at beginning of Round 2, maybe Jeanty
Draft best available combination in Rounds 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 maybe reach for a QB

Option 2:
Keep Rashee Rice for a 5th
Keep Pickens for a 6th
Draft Elite RB in both Round 1 and Round 2 (Jeanty and Hampton maybe)
Draft RB/WR best available in Rounds 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10 needing both a QB and a TE

sorry but Loveland in the 10th is too good to pass up. Pickens and CL for me. Except I would still go the elite RB in the first two rounds or at least go RB then WR. IMO always bag that quality RB first since there are so few bellcow backs left. Depends on if you have to start two RB every week or one. You're already set at WR1

Keeper question. 12 team league full PPR. My only halfway viable keeper option this year is Alec Pierce as a 7th round. I can opt not to keep anybody if I choose. Is he going to return the value of a 7th rounder? Definitely a value that late but the ankle surgery scares me. What say y'all?
W

7th round pick in a 12-team league is between #73 and #84

but keepers mean the pick is more like an 8th or 9th round pick -- between #85 and #96

would keep Pierce with the understanding he probably won't be ready until October

that being said...if the league starts 3 WR...roster will be tight until Pierce returns (i.e. can't have another WR get injured -- especially in 1 PPR)

There is no one other than Pierce you could keep??

No one that's really worth their round value. I could keep Bill Croskey also at a 7th but that's way too high for him imo. Or I have the option of keeping nobody. Which I'm starting to kinda lean toward

so the 12th pick in a 12-team league...(actually the 12th and 13th picks)...

if the draft goes as expected...with Taylor, ARSB, Cook, Lamb, and Jeanty off the board at 7 thru 11...

would you play it safe with Saquon and Jefferson at the turn? (half-PPR)

or go for the upside and reach a little for Achane or Hampton? Maybe even London (or Derrick Henry in non-PPR)

similar dilemma for the 11th pick and 14th

Puka could be facing a suspension for biting a woman and making an antisemitic remark...Schefter said it is possible he does not play week one.

I want no part of Achane or London. Too much risk when guys with less risk and the same upside are there.

IMO Saquan and Jefferson is a great start.

Honestly, not super concerned about either.

Achane may be a bit risky because his passing usage may take a hit, but he has still performed on terrible offenses. I wouldn't take the swing in the early second, but if he fell toward the end, I would scoop him up.

What is the concern about London? Tua may be a step up from who he has had throwing him the ball.

At that position it's more of the price that gives me hesitation.

I dig that, I would not want either in the early second.

Would happily take either in the late second or early third, if they fell.

I don't think it will happen, but if Malik Willis and the Dolphins were above average on offense, there is a world Achane could finish as the RB1 overall.

How did your team(s) do this year?

What was your best draft pick?

What was your best mid-season move?

My way too early 2026 top 5/6
1. JaMarr Chase. Healthy Burrow + Chase is too good.
2. Bijan. Won people titles. Algiers gone next year?
3. CMC. Another year of i dont want to draft him but if he's healthy I will be real happy.
4. JT. Colts have the line and he is elite.
5. Puka/Gibbs. If Stafford comes back Puka. He got people to the championship game. If stafford retires Gibbs.

My update:
1. Jamaar Chase. I could see snake draft this being Gibbs. In mock drafts and best balls my thought is: wow there are still so many really good running back options and these WRs are scary to pick.
2. Gibbs
3. Bijan if Puka gets suspended, otherwise id go Puka for the case I make for Chase above. WRs being more valuable.
4. Puka / Bijan
5. CMC with Jonathan Taylor being the pick if you fear electrical substation.

Why no JSN, the guy is super talented and was insanely efficient last year. The Seahawks added Saheed. Tory Horton comes back (he was mid breakout before injury). All that to say i dont think he is a potential league winner. He won't be bad but like ARSB his ceiling is low. By pick 10 I think these guys are great picks but they will likely be taken a few spots earlier.

leaving no stone unturned...

the Texans have a terrible fantasy playoff schedule:

week 16 at Eagles
week 17 at Packers

the potential issue is for owners who rode the Texans D/ST and Fairbairn to the playoffs

Hurts and Love with older running backs don't scare me at the end of a season. In fact Id say you made a case for those defenses.

One of my leagues just announced they are limiting teams to 1 BN. Holy cow. Seems like it will be a different game. Anybody been down this road?

That sounds horrible. Hopefully they are expanding the number of starters considerably. And use FAAB for waivers.

What is the format? How many teams? How many starters?

Sounds like waivers will be really loaded and keep everyone competitive despite how poorly they draft.

Emeka Egbuka dealing with a toe injury and Bowles said he is unsure if that will impact his week one availability...

Sounds like turf toe.

Chris Godwin to the moon?
