Overview
An edge defender with a fairly productive run at both Wyoming and USC, Byrd fails to stand out physically or athletically on tape. He plays with solid aggression and play strength but finds himself entangled with blockers more than he should. He can be creative when attacking tackles at the top of the rush, but he struggled to get much done when tasked with taking on some of the more talented opponents on the schedule. Byrd possesses certain play features that are worthy of consideration, but he might not have enough above-average qualities to make much of a mark in the league.

-Started the 2021 Rose Bowl against Utah at LB.
-Moved to TE full time in 2022, Honorable Mention All-Big 10.
-Did not play against GA in the playoff due to a back injury.
-2023 Big 10 TE of the year...but for some reason was 2nd team All-Big 10 behind MI's TE.
-Finalist for the John Mackey Award in 2023.
-Dad played TE at Bowling Green.
Given his limited experience at TE and how quickly he's improved this is a promising pick. Doesn't hurt that he and CJ have history together either.

He's a good kid too, apparently grew up on a farm and woke up and did farm work every morning before school in HS.

At the very least, it's nice to draft a player who didn't have a watch party because he was working out on the family farm instead.

Initial reports said Rashee Rice was involved in a multiple car crash in Dallas and was voluntarily cooperating with authorities. Then the story evolved and he allegedly was going 120 mph racing, caused the crash, cops found marijuana in the car, and videos surfaced that looked like he was taking guns out of his car.
Point is, we don't know these guys and sometimes the initial reports paint a different picture than reality.

The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly expect wide receiver Rashee Rice to be suspended for "at least half" of the 2024 NFL season due to his role in a multi-vehicle crash in March, former NFL Network reporter James Palmer revealed during the latest episode of former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.'s podcast released on Wednesday (May 1).
Palmer's prediction echoes ESPN's Adam Schefter's previous report last month that Rice was expected to face "at least a multi-game suspension."
Rice, 24, who surrendered to police in Dallas on April 11, is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury in relation to a six-vehicle crash that occurred on March 30. The Chiefs selected former University of Texas wide receiver at No. 28 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft last week after Schefter had previously reported that the team would target the position in the first-round, citing general manager Brett Veach, who previously referred to the class of wide receiver prospects as "one of the deeper classes."

Feels so good, feelin' good again.
A couple of videos that make Rice look not so good. One of the wreck itself, another of him and 3 other guys just walking away from the scene of the accident. It's not 100%, but it appears they did not wait for police nor exchange info with other drivers, and just ditched 2 very expensive cars on the highway like it was no big deal.
