I think maye and Mccarthy are the most likely to bust as top 5 picks.

I actually think Maye and Daniels are the 2 with the most bust potential. Maye just screams classic QB with a big arm that can't read defenses and Daniels is just not going to make it through a season. McCarthy is coming in with the least amount of pressure and shockingly has a good arm for how little Michigan wanted him throw. Listening to PFF, move the sticks and some of the other podcasts and McCarthy actually has some of the higher ratings on the most difficult throws coming into this draft. So I actually think he has a chance to be the most successful of the 4...depending on which team he goes to.

No clue on how Caleb Williams is going to end up, he's got diva but no more than Joe Burrow in my opinion. It's going to come down to the classic does the offense fit his skill sets since Williams seems to thrive in off schedule throws.

I would not even consider trading CJ for Caleb Williams plus Marvin Harrison jr. Talent without leadership, humility and the right attitude usually gets you a JFF style NFL career. Caleb May be able to adjust but the signs don't look favorable.

The best qb in the draft next week may not be one of the first 3 taken but could be McCarthy, Nix or Rattler. Or even none of the above. The odds of another CJ being there are low.
The team hit the lottery with CJ, regardless of what Williams becomes CJ is our guy. Everyone thought Houston had one of the worst rosters in the NFL and the trade up to get Anderson was universally panned because everyone thought Houston was a shoe in for another top 2 pick in 2024. Houston hit with Ryans and Stroud, you can't trade that away for any prospect.

Chicago has been making moves to build a good foundation for Williams so that he doesn't end up like Bryce Young. I'm not anti-Williams like some are, but I think Stroud is a bit of a unicorn in the sense that he has talent, leadership, a work ethic, and humility just as you said. Anderson has a lot of those same traits. I don't know about Williams, but CJ has dealt with a lot of hardship in his life already that have made him mature beyond his years. There's not many players that have what CJ has, he might be the most untradeable player in the NFL to be honest. After what Houston has dealt with through the years I don't think there's any trade package on the planet that could get them to move CJ. Chicago could trade them picks 1 and 9 this year and their first round picks in 2025 and 2026 and Caserio would have to laugh at that offer IMO.

I will say I'm cautious about this entire draft class of QB's to be honest and I think this is a bad year to really need a QB. I think Williams has the talent to justify the number 1 pick but Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Nix, and Penix all have question marks. This draft is really interesting and I think there's a lot of smoke and mirrors around what the teams out there want in a QB. There's a chance New England, who needs a QB, doesn't take one whether they trade back or take Marvin Harrison Jr. If I'm the Patriots drafting at 3 is it better to take the third QB on the board and a WR in the second round or take MHJ at 3 and a guy like Penix in round 2? I don't think the second option is off the table.

You might be correct. I think McCarthy ends up with a great deal of pressure though when someone trades up to get him. The career arc of QBs is sooo dependent on the team situation. That's part of the reason it's hard to predict.

Very much so, I hear a lot of questions on those podcasts around why is it so hard to predict QBs, but who knows what would have happened if we go Young instead of CJ last year. Or, hell, what if Mahomes hadn't gone to the Chiefs but instead gone to a team with no targets that forced him to play the first year. Would he have even ended up a bust in that scenario?

My thinking for this draft is,

  • Caleb Williams has the most talent of anyone and has the highest ceiling by a lot, so he's got to be the first choice. There's some red flags, but I disagree that he ends up a bust. The Bears OC seems able to adjust his offense based on talent, to the point where he got Geno Smith to the Pro Bowl, so I think he'll put Williams in a position to succeed.
  • JD and Maye are probably the next two, but my worries about them both are from a physical standpoint
  • Daniels has taken some horrible hits every year and taking one from someone that runs faster and is 40 lbs heavier might break him. He also isn't going to change given he's going to be 24 before the end of his rookie season
  • Maye just had some horrible WTF moments on missing easy throws this year. I mean, bad bad moments. I just think he is more in the Blake Bortles or Blain Gabbert mold of this guy looks great throwing a ball...but the ball doesn't consistently go where he wants it to.
  • McCarthy is really tough, as Michigan never asked him to carry the team. Usually that's because a QB isn't talented, but this is a rare case of Michigan's coaches just trying to shorten games because they were winning, not a lack of QB talent. From what I've heard on the podcasts, if you put all of his season together you can find great throws at every level, there's just not many of them. If he goes into a Shanahan style offense I think he could end up being a rich man's Brock Purdy.

I think Carolina was a worse spot for a QB to end up than Houston, regardless of who went where. I do think Young would have been better in Houston due to the o-line play and better WR group. I also think the offense would have to be different because Young doesn't have the arm that Stroud does. But also given the fact that Frank Reich didn't even make it an entire year. I think Tepper is a problematic owner and that organization could have turmoil for a while due to him alone. I do still find it very ironic that we lost to Carolina last season but when I watched that game everything just seemed off for the whole team. It wasn't CJ vs Bryce, nothing for Houston was working that day.

Oh I agree, but would we have had the same success with Bryce as we did with CJ. I think Bryce would have been good, but CJ fit this offense perfectly. Would that have dropped us a few games and completely changed perception about the team around the league, changing our entire approach going into next year? Probably....so while Bryce might have been good here, CJ was the perfect fit for our offense right now.

I really thought there was a chance Mahomes could fall to the Texans at pick #25 in that draft. Wrong.

Yeah, if this is real (i doubt it) it is very dumb. That's literally just the Titans colors. They even ripped off the red star.

Seriously, it sucks. Whoever came up with this idea should be fired. You could've gotten something better by asking a third grade classroom anywhere in Texas to develop a design.

I really don't think they look that bad.

And yes word is these are the alternate helmets that can only be worn no more than 3 times during the season.
