I still don't get why the players agreed to this in the CBA.

Because for 95% of players, this will never apply to them. Getting more money is more important issue.

Exactly

You gotta give something up to get something so give up something that affects very few players.

So "slimy management" is just Easterby? Nick pretty much got rid of everybody else.

They're a long ways away from being good at football, but the organization as a whole is very good and respected

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is an absolutely inappropriate comparison.

Tommy Callahan sold half a million brake pads in a single day to save his deceased father's company. He is a hero and an upstanding man. Cal McNair, on the other hand, is a loser who has never come close to Tommy's productivity. Sure they were both gifted a company without any identifiable skills or useful traits, but Tommy grew into his role in just an hour and a half. Cal still has the vision and intellect of a 8 year old.

I feel like the more apt comparison for Cal is Lloyd Christmas, who turned a suitcase full of a million dollars into a bunch of IOUs. Unlike Tommy, Cal seems to be progressing on the same flat arch as Lloyd

No its not.

People always complain about "the media" picking on the Texans. That is actually a sign of a lack of respect.

Exactly. Not saying the Texans have ever been "world class" or anything, but for the most part, they've been pretty well run. Then somehow (looking at you Cal and O'Brien) they were a complete **** show practically overnight. Nick seems to have it going back in the right direction though.

It has been said that someone's beliefs cannot be changed from a forum post. Well mine just did after reading your post. I now view Cal as Lloyd Christmas rather than Tommy Callahan.

This was my point. The cancer and transition from Bob to Cal has been the only real drama the franchise has had. On the field is different, obviously. But, from a wholistic standpoint, they've been a good franchise and are probably in, if not very close, to top 10 in worth.

Good organization? Respected? The only people that think that are the jock sniffers at 610.

This team has done nothing to earn any respect.

This the same media that said Deshaun was going to get traded "this week" for over a year and a half? Or the one that tried to turn Bob's fumbled "inmates running the prison" quote into a racial smear campaign?

Yeah, I'm not sure I really care whether the "media" shows a lack of respect. They're a bunch of exclamatory talking heads looking to sell content.

Did I hear correctly that Cal was out at the open training camp sessions maning the grill and cooking burgers for the fans in attendance?

And yes...Looks like that was accurate

Cal was on the radio with the 610 morning show. Even though him parading around doesn't seem like the best idea, I think they have realized they have lost the PR game badly the last couple years.

There's probably some Roy Munson similarities as well, but I do enjoy your Lloyd Christmas analogy.

Hopefully the annual Cal McNair bbq doesn't turn out like the Brick Tamland pancake breakfast, be a shame if that many people died.

I think I've said it before, but the only way Cal can earn my respect and support is if he starts dressing as Big Enos Burdette for every home game.

Well we we have a preseason game today…
Exited to see Mills, Pitre, & Pierce most notably.
Sucks that Kyle allen is out & we have to see 3 quarters of football but it is football!

Haha, hot knife through butter so far.

Might as well kick off the '23 draft talk... wonder who the Texans will choose with the first pick next year? I say trade back and secure more picks.

The reason this analogy works is because supposedly Cal put on Easterby's jacket and did the "fat man in a little man's coat". A story like that has to be true.

Will Anderson
Will Anderson would have been the no 1 pick this year too if eligible. I don't even care how Mills plays, if Anderson is there when we draft then take him.

Regardless of how bad we are projected to be this year I'm not so sure we are drafting at no 1 in 2023. The falcons, bears, panthers, and Seahawks will all be in the conversation. The game against the bears in week 3 is really going to tell us a lot about this team.

I know it's the preseason but i did appreciate the Watson performance 1/5 for 7 yards. The "apology" he issued makes me think the ruling is coming soon.

12 games for Watson and up to $5 million dollar fine. We will know soon enough

Doesn't 11 games mean his first game back would be against Houston? I can't stop laughing about that.
redag06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Should have been more money as well, especially since he made his entire salary last year and is only making so little so this coming season so 11 games of missed checks is nothing.
bilbobag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, against Houston.

Means he's eligible. Wonder if he actually plays

So maybe it will be 12

IF he plays, he can't practice with the team once the season starts. I doubt he will be ready to hop back in with 5 days of practice after not practicing for 11 weeks.

Likely true, but the first time he will be eligible to play is in the city where all these violations took place? That's better than 99% of Hollywood plots.

Lol. Deshaun wasn't apologizing for the women, it was for his poor decision making. Goodness gracious what a loon.
