Yep. Unless there's something we don't know about him, what a steal.
Yeah, also I get a kick that Jerry setup his draft room Dr Evil style.

Carr was never a sloucher. He was ruined by years of awful O-Lines, which ruined his internal clock. Okoye was also not a sloucher. He was drafted super young since he was so astute in the classroom, graduated super early and was expected to still grow. He never did, so he ended up being an undersized DT.
I've heard from many sources that Carr was always getting there right when practice started and left as soon as the final whistle blew. Treated football like a 9 to 5 job. No extra time in the film room, no extra time hanging with his teammates outside of what he was contractually obligated to do. That's not a franchise QB.

And Okoye? What did your sources say about him?
First love wasn't football. But he opened a charitable organziation that has helped a lot of people, so good on him.

OK, I wouldn't mind us picking up the phone and seeing if we could move our 2nd up to grab Johnson for a decent price.

And we will sign Dak Prescott to an extension worth .... ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

That'd be a dynamite first round. No way we thought he'd be there.

What would it cost? Our second, a 3rd, and a 4th? To move up to 26-27 If he's there?

If he drops a few more spots, we could probably do the 2nd a high 4th and a low 4th.

And I would be wrong as the jets trade 35, 69, and 163 for 26 and 101

Despite Johnson going off the board, still a lot more edge rush talent on the board than expected.

Agreed, Jags just traded up. Wonder what they're going for? Corner?

I'd bet they want to grab one of the ILBs before NE does.

You are correct sir, Lloyd to the Jags. It's a good pick for them.

Nakobe Dean going to be there at 37? I don't know how you don't take a playmaker like that if he is…

That would be a steal and a half for the Texans.

Players I wouldn't mind at 37:
Dean
Ebiketie
Mafe
Travis Jones
Logan Hall
Ojabo (I think he will end up being ok)

And my one crazy pick that I would love: Christian Watson

is #37 too high for the Iowa State RB?

Texans better not take an RB at 37…

If Dean is there, you take him and run. A few other great talents that are first round talents that have fallen because of the run on two positions.

Texans grab two day 1 starters at positions of need and accumulate 3 more picks? Awesome.

Texans have 11 picks the rest of the draft. No way we keep all those as that's about 20% of the 53 man roster. I'd expect to trade up with some of these for extra 3rd round picks.

Nick has been great. Very excited with the direction this team is headed.

Stingley Jr. will be a stud.. He was heavily evaluated
I hope so. LSU guys always seem like a dart throw…….sh** tons of talent, but also sh** tons of diva and character issues. Never know which one you're going to get. If Stingley plays up to his talent level, then yes this was a hell of a first night

Looking at all of the draft grades out there, it seems like a mixed bag by the pundits on if we did well or not.

Biggest take aways are that everyone agrees if Stingley hits it will be big, but there's a big chance for a miss too

Also, the weirdest take is hating on Green because we picked him too early, but at the same time most people grading love the Chargers taking Zion 2 picks later. I think it's just that most mocked Johnson to the Texans and are upset about not being correct lol.

Overall, I'm happy with the picks. I would have been OK if we had gone in a different direction, but it's the type of draft where there's not really any sure fire talents so you can't go too wrong. Drafting the most talented CB and the best IOL in the draft, while grabbing extra picks, is a good day 1 with the potential to be great.

Green I'm fine with. I'd have gone sauce over Stingley. The skill set is fine but I question his passion for football. Seems prime to pull a Tunsil when he gets the second contract. If he's there mentally and healthy then he's the most talented but those are some significant if's.

Today should be interesting. I'm seeing a lot of Breece Hall, which makes sense because our RB's suck. Ideally I'd like to see us go edge / LB then trade into the back half of the second to get Walker from Mich St.

I don't think they'll grab Hall unless they trade down again. Hoping teams scramble to fill QB and WR before us and we get Dean to drop into our laps.

Had a chance to digest overnight and I'm satisfied with the day 1 moves. Stingley could be the best player in the draft, I'm sure the medical staff and Caserio did their due diligence on the injury. I can't imagine they have any doubts if they took him at 3. Green is the best interior lineman in the draft, which is a position of need. I haven't seen either pick panned so far, I've heard more negative press on the Jags taking Walker at 1 than anything Houston did. I also love the value for dropping back 2 spots.

One thing it looks like we learned is that Caserio looks at need over value, at least in the first round. I'm guessing he's got not only a chart of players but also a hierarchy of needs, 1 and 2 must have been CB and OL.

There's still a lot of good players at different positions of need. Houston can still use help at edge, WR, S, RB.

I love Dean at 37, that's my hope, but he could be gone but there are plenty of options.

Edge: Arnold Ebiketie, Boye Mafe, Logan Hall (Ojabo has the most potential but the achilles injury on a guy that size worries me)
WR: Christian Watson, Skyy Moore, John Metchie (less concerned about ACL recovery), George Pickens, Alec Pierce
S: Jalen Pitre
RB: not in the second round, but on the table in the third.

Wildcards: Dean, Travis Jones, Christian Harris

Wouldn't mind seeing the Texans add another second or third round pick. Three 4th rounders hold good value, so a pair of those would be a good start for trade bait. Maybe I'm wrong, but a couple of 4th rounders won't move the needle for this team in the next couple of years and thus are expendable for an additional 3rd if the right player is available. Texans currently hold picks 37, 68, 80, 98, 99 and 115 through the 4th round.

Good night in the 1st round, though, so excited to see what Caserio does however it shakes out.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Any chance the Texans take Willis if he is available at 37? What about Howell if he is available at 68?

I'd likely see the Texans trade out for a team wanting them at those spots, but just curious if there's a scenario where they grab a QB tonight....

I disagree and think Stingley is a perfect example of this not being the case. If he valued need over best available, he wouldn't have taken a press man cover corner.
