You're missing the point. The #1 pick gives you hope, it gives you better standing throughout the draft, it give you leverage, it gives the fans something.

If we are going to draft a QB, we will now potentially have to settle for whoever isn't picked, that isnt a good look. That's "we'll take whoever is available"

If you are certain we'll get who we want and there is no worries, it tells me it's Levis.

When you have the #1 pick, nobody can do anything to keep you from the player you want.

When you piss it away to #2, every team in the league has a chance to get above you and get the player that you want.

It doesn't matter that the guys this year aren't as highly regarded as Trevor Lawrence or any other QB. What matters is you appeared to tank the whole season (i'm hoping) to get the #1 pick, and then threw it away in the final minute of the final game.

Also, it's not just the #1 pick in the first round, it's the #1 pick in EVERY ROUND. You're not giving away 1 draft position, you're giving away 6. So you can say you finished 3-13-1. Huzzah.

I don't think he's ever been viewed as a top NFL prospect though. Bryce isn't particularly fast, doesn't have a particularly strong arm, and is very small by NFL QB standards. If he becomes an elite QB in the NFL, he'll be a pretty big exception. Whereas Lawrence was basically a prototype prospect.

No one has anything against the players - their futures, whether with the Texans or elsewhere, and pride on the line.

That said, there is a huge difference between 1 and 2. Unless you're perspective is of a player, this is an absurd take. But fans should be angry with this team - they can't even tank the best in the league.

This team and mostly the staff packed it in multiple times this season by punting, kicking FGs, and constantly throwing the Rex Burkhead behind the chains.

For me that's the issue. They play not to lose for 16 games then when it comes time to lose they air it out and roll the dice and play like there's nothing to lose.

Shoulda been playing like that all season.

I'm a casual nfl fan at most, so dont pay attention to most managerial off-season type things. But they had a decent 10 year run, making the playoffs what, 6 times? Sure, the goal shouldn't be to make the playoffs. But not sure id say that would be the laughing stock of the nfl either.

Outside of this thread i had season tickets from 2002-2011, bought custom jerseys for myself, my brother, and my wife, watched every game livw or on dvr from 2012-2019, volunteered at my kids schoil when Toro comes to talkabout bullying and my whole family has volunteered at the Houston Food Bank as part of Huddle Against Hunger.

Their is a difference between players playing hard and NOT putting them into positions to win. It's possible to accomplish both and they failed today. Texans should not have won this game today, especially the way they did.

I live in Houston, and have my whole life. I love football. I adored the Oilers, watched them disappoint us every year until a fellow Houstonian stole the team from his own city. I adopted the Texans because I want to support my city's team. I really don't think that's unreasonable or hard to understand.

I've barely watched the Texans in the last few years because they've given us nothing to care about. But, I did end up with tickets to two games this year versus the Browns and Eagles, and I was sad to see how little interest there is in the team. Texans fans were vastly outnumbered, because again, the team has given us zero reason to care. Was hopping the first overall pick would be the start of a reason to care again.

I watch other pro games and root for the players I like (including Aggies in the NFL), but nothing beats rooting for your hometown team with something meaningful on the line.

Yeah, a lot of people are talking about just picks #1 and #2. What about missing out on the first pick each round? That's a huge loss in itself.

Lovie went for a tie in week 1 and in week 18 ,with absolutely nothing to gain by winning , decides now is the time to win? That makes zero sense

and what adds to the frustration...

2 years ago...the Jaguars were 1-15...laughing stock of the league...this year 9-8

last year...the Lions were 3-13-1...similar laughing stock after the Goff trade...this year 8-8 with 1 game to go

the turnaround or rebuild doesn't have to take 4 or 5 years

I will say this, Lovie has been pushing for a second season as the head coach and today was a FU to Cal if you don't give it to me. Week 1 he was safe.

I love all you guys. I appreciate this thread and your passion. At the end of the day, we are all fans.

To me and after seeing the medical emergency in the Bills game, I look at this game differently. I appreciate these players more. For that, I am not sorry.
