If you listened to The Ticket yesterday afternoon, they did a great job of breaking down the options (none of which are good). Basically it's sign a guy who gets cut in August because nobody wants him, pull a guy out of retirement that hasn't been staying shape or trade for a king's ransom.

The other thing that makes this situation even more maddening: the injury happened on Wednesday and has the impact to completely derail the entire season before it even starts. Given the gravity of the situation, how many NFL GMs would be locked in their office starting at sunrise Thursday morning working the phones and turning over every stone in search of a replacement?

Unfortunately the answer is only 31, because ours was busy prancing around on the blue carpet and conducting a WWE-style pep rally with Michael Irvin and Stephen A Smith all morning:

Yes, I know there are other "football guys" in the organization, who were probably working on it, but the optics are terrible.

I'd rather he not be involved.

It's not like we don't have a guy filling that role (Will McClay). Jerry maintains the Owner/General Manager title because, well, he's Jerry and he'll probably die sitting in his office chair. But Will is the GM. Yes he still has to run things by Jerry, but most GMs have to get the owners blessing for any major moves/purchase.

And yes, it's a terrible situation because everybody always needs OT. Anybody that is available is going to have visible warts.

Right, even any that will cost a king's ransom will have warts, because teams generally just don't trade good tackles.

Meanwhile, L'el Collins started a fight in the Denver/Cincinati practice that led to it being cancelled. I saw several pundits criticizing the organization for letting him go because "they didn't feel like they could trust him". Well, you can't trust him and he continues to prove that.

I think Aaron Donald swinging multiple helmets at Bengals players had more to do with the practice being cancelled.

Sure. yeah it was Rams/Cinci

By all account Collins started it though. Donald apparently finished it.

Most of the options out there are tight tackles. One suggestion was Alex Leatherwood drafted first round out of Bama by the Raiders. He a right tackle but did play some left tackle as well at Bama

What's Larry Allen doing these days? He could make a George Forman return.

Ironic that they hold starters out of preseason games only to have Smith blow a hammy in practice.

And, hamstring tears off the bone are career ending.

Pay the money and get a good LT now before the season starts and we have a merry go round O- line

As a Texan follower as bad as y'all are wanting Jerry to find a solution I'm rooting just as hard that Casserio is calling him trying to convince Jerry to take Tunsil for a 1st rounder.

After y'all already gave up, what, two first rounders and a second for him? No thanks... how about a 4th?

Yeah, I think I said it on the previous page... Cowboys need to be thinking about this as a career ender for Tyron. Whatever they are gonna do, whoever they are gonna get, pretend that Smith is never coming back and make your move.

I wonder what NE wants for Wynn? If it's no more than at 3rd rounder I think I'd be all over that. At worst he's an above average NFL OT. If the trade value isn't too bad the only real downside is you are gonna have to sign him to a long term deal... and I have zero doubt him/his agent want to be paid like a pro-bowler.

That sucks, but you know what sucks worse... getting the one player on your team you really can't afford to lose killed this year.

Good lord, I really hope Jerry is "bluffing" to lower the price he has to pay for a replacement, either through trade or a free agent. I told a friend one time that being a Cowboys fan means that your most favorite team and least favorite team is the same team. Ridiculous quotes like this only support my sentiments regarding this franchise.

Tbh I can't even recall the last trade the Cowboys made, or at least good trade. We've drafted fairly well but when it comes to contracts and trading this front office falls flat on its face.

I do not expect us to make a shrewd move for a replacement. It is likely we do exactly what Jerry said and try to replace internally which leaves a lot to be desired

Jerry has to come out and say that. If they do look around, coming out and saying you don't have confidence in what you currently have kills any leverage you might have.

Watching Carolina/Buffalo waiting on the game to start. These NFL+ announcers are incredibly bad.

Amari Cooper trade wasn't a good one? Granted that's 4 years ago now

Ah yes Cooper. I legit couldn't remember the last one. Well it was good but then we gave him away for practically nothing, and his deal looks cheap compared to what the WR market at present has become. And as you said that's 4 long seasons ago.

Hard to believe but Tight End may be a strength for this team. Ferguson and Hendershot will compliment Shultz pretty well.

Thank goodness they didn't cave and give Schultz a deal. I will give them credit there

Making lopsided trades isn't exactly a good formula in the NFL. I thought the trade for Quinn a few years ago was pretty shrewd. Trading back for Parsons was pretty good.

It's not, I'm just saying I don't expect this front office to make a good move if they even make a move at all. And I meant trades for a player, not draft trades

It's pretty clear Ball isn't the answer. I think they need to go get a tackle.

On the bright side, I have liked what I've seen from Waletzco so far. He needs time to get stronger but I think he's got the tools to be a good swing tackle, at minimum.

Just curious, but what are you basing this Waletzco opinion on? College tape?

Ball looks like a stiff. I do not ever see him being a dude there.

Jerry hates to pander for a player but he has no leverage here.

He played the other night. He also was getting positive buzz early in camp before he hurt his shoulder.

The problem with Woletsko is the damn shoulder. He needs surgery. That says a lot about what they think of Ball if they are asking Woletsko to play with the injury.

For those interested in NFL networks top 100. Here are the cowboys voted on so far

95. CeeDee Lamb
92. Tyron Smith
68. Zack Martin (ridiculous)
44. Dak Prescott

They're through 31 now. Gotta imagine Diggs and Parsons are the only 2 left. My guess is Diggs is ~25 and Parsons ~10.

Diggs in at 23
Parsons in at 16

Seems low for Micah. Even though he was a rookie, definitely feel like he was top 10 last year.

Exactly. We got dang lucky that a 5th round OT is ready to come in and play as a rookie, but this injury needs to limit him to swing tackle duties. It's hard enough for rookies to come in and play 17 games + playoffs... can't imagine doing it with a bum shoulder all season.

And Ball looks like a lost cause already. The guys just isn't NFL quality. No doubt they will keep him around and give him another shot next year, but he looks like a lost cause.

Not sure what they are waiting on, but we need another guy in here ASAP.
