I am very excited for Football season, as always, but this year it is almost 100% because of the Aggies. I will watch the Cowboys games and root for them, but my emotional attachment has declined so much over the last several years.

I think that's a natural part of getting older, but certainly fatigue plays a part and we've had plenty of that since the '95 season. Dear Lord it's been almost 30 years since they've done anything noteworthy in the playoffs.

I'm very hopeful for this Cowboys season. They were a pretty dang good football team 1st half of last year. Well coached and even the back-ups looked sharp when their services were needed. We can/should win the East again and can we please, for the love, catch a few breaks when the playoffs come around!

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about football ginning up: Obviously Southlake Carroll always contends for state and the Aggies ha momentum after excellent recruiting.

But, sadly, I just don't feel it for the Cowboys. No real off season splash. Still have cap space. Seems now more than ever that this team simply gets Jerry his sought after attention and everything is about him and not the Star.

Same here. I imagine I'll be DVRing games this year so I can go play golf more and enjoy cooler weather. Very much looking forward to Aggies.

I hope the cap space is for veterans cut during training camp or for a big midseason trade. But I'm not optimistic

You guys are full of ***** "MUH I DoNt cARe bOut MuH BoyS aNyMoRe" will be the ones bleeding all over this thread when the season starts, and then be the first ones to say "seE i ToD yoU sO" when the season inevitably ends. This team just went 12-5, ball didn't bounce their way on a few occasions and now the sky is falling. Great fans we have.

Well, first of all, I never said I don't care.

Second, all I can say is how I feel. I am no where near as excited for the season to start as I have been in years past.

And I also said I will watch and cheer, but it's just different. If they defy the odds and end up in the NFC Championship game, I will root as hard as anyone, but I think it's crazy to not acknowledge that the franchise only has themselves to blame for some fan apathy creeping in...

F'in Jerry being Jerry. Seems all that makeup BS last year was just to steal the limelight for Jimmy's induction.

Quote:

"It's BS for anybody to be making anything," Jones said of the perception that Johnson's delayed induction is petty. "I've said I'm gonna put him in. Now when I put him in and the circumstances and what I do with that there's a lot more than Jimmy to think about here.

"And I've got a lot of other lives out here that have laid a lot on the line on the field that need to be in that Ring of Honor as well."

And so how I do that, what I do it with, I get to make that decision," Jones continued. "And it isn't at the end of the day all tailored around whether Jimmy is sniveling or not."

So Watson and Zeke end up with the same suspension. That seems fair.

Lol. Watson got 1 more game than Wade Wilson who was taking supplements due to diabetes. Joke

Utter nonsense. This is just another example of Anti Cowboys bias from the league... anytime they can stick it to us they will.

And when I watch playoff games and the 49ers are allowed to hold all game and the only yellow flags on the ground are against Dallas... it's this sorta crap right here that tells me it's all rigged.

I could be 100% wrong and blinded by my Cowboys bias, but there's plenty of evidence to support thar theory as well.

That's one way to make sure you get paid for a year! I don't think he was making the team based on early reports... big time JAG is what it sounded like to me.

LOL... I friggin called it!!!! Here comes the Tyler Smith hype train!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:

It's almost time to start getting our hopes up again. Expected headlines (reality):

Tolbert picking up the offense as fast as any rookie WR ever (he'll be a'ight)

Sam Williams consistently beating Tyron Smith, almost unblockable (he'll get blocked plenty this year)

Tyler Smith is an animal... drove a guy 10 yards and pancacked him (holding, #73!!!!)

Washington out 6-10 weeks. What the hell are we going to do at WR?

Bringing Fuller in seems to make the most sense to fill the Gallup/ Washington void. Same style stretch the field type WR.

Broadus has been down on Smith since draft talk started back in January. I listen to him quite a bit and his opinions had a lot to do with me being very unhappy on draft night.

But... the #1 selling point on Smith was his physicality. The guy is nasty and can move very large men! Probably not a coincidence that he wasn't blowing anybody away in shorts/shirts... but as soon as the pads come on he destroys Trysten Hill.

We'll see. In my mind he'll never be the OT we want/need, but he can be a very good Guard for us and that's where he should stay.

The league just hit the Dolphins and their owner harder over tampering than they have Watson. That's some pretty atrocious timing for announcing that suspension.

Cowboys signing Anthony Barr to a one year deal. Next up, sign A WR on a similar deal.

Every single pundit I've heard has said the Cowboys got worse this offseason. They might be a little worse to start the season but I think the moves they made were all very sound.

- Amari just wasn't producing at an elite level. It was time to re-allocate that money. CeeDee will need to step and Gallup will need to come back healthy. Tolbert looks very solid. Right now it's the biggest question mark on the team (on paper). I think the bigger question is how good has Dak become? He's a full year out of the injury. Now it's time for him to ball out with every WR and not just Amari.

- Collins and Gregory were high potential, high risk players. I personally think Gregory cost them the playoff game against SF with all his dumb penalties. He was not worth keeping around at that price and both of these guys have injury concerns.

- They "lost" two starters off the Oline. Well Collins didn't actually play that much last season. And Connor Williams was a weak link from day one. I believe the downfall of the offense last year was the really weak combo Left Guard and Center. Defenses were attacking it. It led to a drop in the running and a passing game relegated to very quick passes. The yards per pass dropped dramatically for Dak last season and I don't see anyone blaming the poor oline play for this. Adding the ultra powerful Smith is a plus.

- Defensively up front you get Sam Williams and a bunch of guy who are basically coming off injury riddled seasons. Gallimore, Hill and Bohanan to go along with Watkins. I also love the draft pick Ridgeway. If the DTs can play a lot better this season the defense will be a lot better. On the edge they did sign Fowler and get Lawrence back healthy. He missed almost the whole season last year.

- Then the thing that irks me the most about pundit analysis. They never expect players to get better. We have really young players in Diggs and Parsons who come off all pro years. Then we get the entire secondary back PLUS LVE and Cox at LBer. This defense in the second year under Quinn will be very good IMO.

Dak is by far the best QB in the division. This team has Super Bowl asperations.

Excellent write up. I've said it before... most of those pundits were not taking into account the young guys that are still getting better for Dallas. Gallimore and OSA are 2 guys on the rise... so much so that they have put a "rotation player" tag onto a solid vet DT (Watkins).

Amari was one of my favorites for different reasons, but when it comes to football, he was very unreliable. I've heard he's already injured at Browns camp... and wouldn't you know it... "it's not severe, but he's gonna sit out practice". Sound familiar!?!

Overall I agreed with a lot of their off-season moves. Another thing I've also said before was you can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results... we had to make changes. Not adequately replacing Amari while also letting Ced Wilson get away was their biggest mistake and right now it's a problem.

I will also add that L. Collins and Gregory both are starting the season on the PUP list for their respective teams. I think Gregory will be fine, but I doubt Collins plays more than 10 games.

Collins was a really good player for us when he had a chip on his shoulder for not being a 1st round draft pick. The guy was robbed of his draft status, it cost him money, and the perception is it lit a fire inside him. Guy worked really hard, played well, and started getting paid.

But he hasn't been the same guy the past 2 - 3 years. He's made 30+ million and he looks like a guy that's good with it now... he'll keep playing as long as teams want to pay him, but the fire is gone.

It's inexcusable to lose Amari and go into the season with this much cap space. We easily could have afforded him

I think Amari pissed off Jerry with his vaccine phobia last season. He also missed a bunch of time with nagging injuries. I agree it wasn't a good move on paper especially when you consider what they got for him. That's why I think this was a relationship based decision.
