Lol, I have been saying this for years on the boards. Some certain posters kept meeting that with "why do you still support this team?" or "stop complaining" .

Stephen Jones is WORTHLESS. For years all we heard was how much better things were going to be under ol Stephen's watch and look where we are now. Maybe the 3rd generation of Jones kids is where our hope should be? I heard Charlottes kid who is a walk on for the Horns is a salary cap guru and will right the ship!

On the Gregory thing I've been saying if the Cowboys added language to protect themselves against a suspension then I can see why they would. However as an organization, the Jones family gets ZERO benefit of the doubt on much of anything. They are inept, incompetent, and the results speak for themselves.

with Gregory's terrible history of rehab and suspensions, Dallas management would have been foolish NOT to have language to protect themselves. Denver wanted to take that chance, good for them. If they make the playoffs, they better hope he's not baked again.

Good riddance of a bad actor. Plenty of other weaknesses on the roster to spend that money on to lock up guys that aren't stoners.

I will fully admit that I was one that thought Stephen might bring some balance to Jerry's wildcatting ways, but I was wrong. In many ways, I think Stephen is worse.

The only reason why they've been able to field competitive teams is dumb luck with Romo and Dak and Will McClay is good at what he does so he's allowed them to be good at drafting and bargain level FA shopping.

Cowboys continuing to stack up Ls this offseason. Von to the bills.

Maybe not. Seems like the bills gave Von 6 years/120M.

Ok, so where are the tweets prior to this week? Stephen's rep so far has partly been from talking Jerry out of crazy ***** Like drafting Johnny Football
Just because Stephen's better than Jerry doesn't make him any less of an incompetent front office exec. Just slightly less of one.

Wonder how much is guaranteed on that contract

Bad faith would be changing the number of years, amount of guaranteed money, putting a clause that the contract is void if he gets arrested, etc. Trying to pull a fast one on someone hoping they'll just sign and move on.

This was SOP for contracts with the Cowboys. Who cares if the contract language is outdated or a bad idea to begin with, that doesn't matter. This does not constitute bad faith and I would be very curious to hear someone's reasoning why they believe that way.

Are you a member of the Jones family or the Cowboys org? If not, it's okay, you don't have to carry an ocean's worth of water for them.

Wow. Would have loved to have Von, but that's huge. I would not have done that. I bet he doesn't see beyond 3 years of that deal.

The issue isn't that they tried to protect themselves from suspensions, they tried to protect themselves from fines. In a league where if you look at a ref when they're on their period you're going to get rung up and fined, who can blame his camp for bailing?

Wouldn't mind getting Barnett at the right price or Clowney on a 1-2 year deal. Need some dudes.

Yeah, if they can't pull something off, DE just went way up the need list for the draft.

Gotta sign one. Very rare that a rookie DE makes an impact. At this point we may be better of lining Parson up there and then getting Wagner and someone like LVE or Hitchens to fill the void at LB.

I would love to see them package some of those extra picks in the 5th to move up to the 3rd. I'm sure they'll be thinking about that.

I wonder if we could go get a guy like Trai Turner to play G so it's not a huge need in the draft. Still grab a guy later that you might like but it would free things up for DE and WR.

You know though, after reading about the guarantees, it looks like it's an avg of $17.5m a year. We were gonna give Gregory $14. I think Von's worth $3m more a year than Gregory. I think the could have been doable.

Really wouldn't mind them taking a short-term flyer on Honey Badger if they can't get Kearse signed. He could thrive in DQ's turnover oriented defense.
Macarthur

I would like Honey Badger. They can do Honey Badger/Kearse, Wagner and Clowney. They have enough space to do that.

I would try my hardest to trade for Danielle hunter. He's an elite edge and he's only 28 years old.

This front office doesn't even seem to put the effort in for acquiring players via trade. Cooper may be the last player ? Is Minnesota shopping him? Haven't heard anything on him?

I still don't think we need another "elite" pass rusher. Between D-Law and Micah's versatility we have good pressure guys... our other dudes just have to step up around them.

Not sure we can do much about Guard with what's left in free agency, so go get a LB or fill another spot.

Like with the draft, go find the best football player. Don't get hung up on DE, just go get a stud and make our team better.

If I'm interpreting his contract correctly, he's due an 18.5 million roster bonus this year that I'm sure the Vikes don't want to pay.

The $ owed on the 2 years left on his contract isn't bad otherwise. I wonder if a new team could restructure that and guarantee the money but spread out the bonus over those 2 years?

Million $ question is what do the Vikings want?

Doesn't appear they have any interest in free agency either.

Idk guys I think we need to really be more sympathetic towards the Cowboys organization. You guys ever stop to think that after all the legal payoffs , cover ups, legal fees, and liquor purchases maybe the Jones family doesn't have enough money to actually sign players??

Jerry fathering kids, PR guys sneaking pics of naked cheerleaders, same well known PR guy upskirting Jerry's daughter...looks like the Jones family has too many distractions to take football seriously this offseason.

Is there anything that qualifies Stephen to be in the position he is other than its a family business? I am kind of to the point I wish the NFL would force them to sell the team under the guise of moral bankruptcy but really because they are incompetent.

Some of y'all need to get a dog!

Jiminy Cricket... all of this started over a guy that's never had more than 6 sacks in a season and this past year was the first time EVER that he was eligible (AKA, not suspended) to play back to back seasons.

But flame away... tell me how I'm wrong so all the doom and gloomers can blue star more doom and gloom posts.

I think where you're going off topic here is making this about Gregory and what type of player he is....I would agree that the contract was prob too much money, esp when you compare it to Von's actually numbers. I think Von's is only getting like $3.5m more avg per year than Gregory. I would take Von and that deal all day long.

But that's not the point. The point is that the organization and specifically Jerry made a very strong point that resigning Gregory was a very high priority for the organzation. The reached and agreement and then f'ed it up and by some accounts, Jerry was highly pissed. And when you take the comments made by Tank about how his deal went down, then the other comments from folks around the league about how that language is used, it becomes very clear the cowboys are either incompetent or they simply botched this deal. It sure seems like folks in the league believe it's the former not just the latter.

I think some of us are just tired of the same old crap year after year. After a while it gets pretty old. I'm old enough to remember ALL of the glory years and I'm tired of waiting and tired of excuses from the Jones's. I try to remain optimistic every year but my patience is running thin.

I know what you are saying, but I said "it started with". One piece of bad news (which I felt was good news) spiraled into an entire beast of corporate infidelity posts, clown show VPs, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Me too. I've had plenty of harsh things to say, especially on game day posts (especially when I've been drinking which I don't do during every game). But at this point the thread has gone off the rails.

Yes, Jerry's gotten lots of tail in his lifetime. No, Stephen isn't our savior. Yes, they hard-balled Tank but got a deal done. They hard-balled Randy and he bailed. We franchise tagged a TE who would have made the JAG pro bowl if there was such a thing! Deep breaths everyone.
