I was really hoping someone would poach kellen Moore, but it looks like the rest of the league isn't interested. Jerrah will ignore the warning signs and bring him back.

We need a change on offense in the worst way. Running these same coaches / players out next year will lead to more of the same from the second half of the season. The only thing that might prove me wrong is if Dak was playing hurt and the dak from the first half of the season re-emerges.

Agree w this. The only chances of getting better for next year are Dak upping his game, and the addition of some very difference making OL. If Gregory is out the door we will need to fill a vital DE spot too.

With the current personnel good teams have figured Moore out and I'm not under the impression he's savvy enough to overcome that.

Get rid of Zeke and Cooper.

We all hate Zeke. I think Cooper isn't happy being "passed" by Lamb and happy to leave. Way too many games this year Cooper was ignored.

Just saw this.

I like Cooper. I really do. But if you aren't going to throw to him hardly at all most of the season, why have him for $20 million a season? He had 7 targets or less in 11 games this year... that's completely unacceptable for a guy making that kind of money.

Cooper called out the coaching staff near the end of the season, and I don't blame him at all.

He was #39 in targets behind Schultz and Lamb on the team. He was also behind Robby Anderson, Zach Ertz, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jakobi Meyers, and Darnell Mooney just to name a few.

The interview feedback is not surprising at all. He's still really young and probably isn't HC material at this stage of his career. I was amazed that there was so much talk about him landing one. There's dozens of more qualified candidates out there.

As for the Cowboys, it's not necessarily doom and gloom. It's not like Moore doesn't show some potential. He just needs to embrace an identity for the offense. That leadership probably needs to come from McCarthy. I have no doubt those two guys can construct a good offense. They just need to freaking do it. Definitely upgrading the interior OL would help tremendously.

I don't think he's even college HC material (not yet). Maybe a college OC, IMO.

I just feel bad for "fans" like you. So many so-called experts literally don't pay attention to anything and then at the end of the season go ingenious talking points like
- xx years and no champ game
- As long as Jones is there they won't win.
- The culture blah blah
- Great coaches will never be hired

Its not even worth arguing either because you can only disprove all these genius takes by witnessing the team break through win again. A task that is immeasurably difficult.

So this current iterations won the division, made the playoffs, won 12 games, led the league in scoring, drafted and uncovered some amazing defensive players and fell 25 yards shy of beating a very talented Niners. They managed to get Dak signed, which was the hot topic for the last 4 years ("Jones is f'ing this up again"). They retained McClay, the guy credited with turning the scouting department around. They are NOT in cap hell if you objectively look around the league.

Nope. We can't celebrate anything ever again until the win the SB. Well some of us can't.

You sound like the kind of Ag who defended R.C. and lectured people on how back in the day we kissed after first downs.

The Cowboys are a joke nationally. Have been for thirty years now.

You're right. Its way better to just give up and be miserable.

Who says I've given up? I still tune in to watch, it's just the losses don't hurt like they used to.

But thanks for casting aside my criticism of this front office. If Jerry wasn't the owner he would have fired Jerry the GM or Stephen the GM/VP long ago.

I guess it depends on how you evaluate the GM role. If you base it primarily on talent acquisition then this team has had the talent to win big several times.

I base it on winning in the postseason. Who gives a flip how much talent you accumulate if the team you put together (players + coaches) can't win anything?

That's like saying college football coaches should be evaluated based on their recruiting class rankings.

I mean he did make a super bowl…. It's not like he's a bum as a HC.
Yeah, how did that Super Bowl work out for him? Oh yeah, blew the biggest lead in Super Bowl history.

Now Jones is claiming that Quinn (WFAA Ch. 8) was offered a HC job but turned it down to stay with Jerry and the cowboys.

Just another day for Jerry Jones cause it's all about him.

I'm not worried about this teams drafting as long as we have Will Mcclay. Granted, we will need to have a good draft to fill some of the upcoming holes. The defense should continue to improve with Quinn back. I'd bring the punter back.

I think the only question going into training camp / preseason will be the offense and how coaching will make the offense improve.

So after watching the last 6 games, it pretty obvious that the Cowboys just can't handle adversity. They don't hunker down and play tough. Watching the Rams turn around and shut down SF's run game was impressive. All these teams had QBs that could make big throws and get the ball to their playmakers. You knew they were going to do everything to stop Cupp or Kelce and they both still had 10+ catches. Meanwhile we're stuck hoping to get our guys 3-5 touches a game.

This team showed all of that early in the season while dealing with injuries to key guys. The had everything you want in a football team. And then the Denver game happened and the offensive side of the ball fell apart.

So I agree with what you are saying and it's certainly true about the Cowboys in the 2nd half of the season & playoffs... but they are capable.

Clearly they aren't because they didn't. They were tough until it came time to actually be tough.

There are or were some good head coaches available right now, and we're choosing to bring McCarthy back. I need an effing drink.

Flores was fired pretty much because he was pissed the Dolphins drafted Tua instead of Herbert. He wouldn't shut up about it and was demanding more power on draft day. He is a VERY good coach IMO and will be a star at his next stop.

Not a good look for Jerry and the Boys right now. The article said a former Cowboys exec leaked it but I also wouldn't be surprised if Danny Snyder had something to do with it leaking too.

Gonna start listening to Cowboys talk radio again (Draft Show in particular). I haven't read a single article or listened to a single podcast since the Big L. Not so much that I was pissed or in a state of Cowboys depression/denial... I just didn't care to spend my time on Cowboys stuff.

Typically I jump into draft stuff almost immediately after the season is done, but it's March and this is my first attempt to start taking an interest in next years team.

Every year I get older and more jaded!

I think the first round, in particular, is going to be facinating this year because it's a very weak QB class. Will QB hungry teams overdraft a QB which could push much better players down.

I think 24 is a great spot. The Cowboys are going to have a great player fall into their lap or they will have an opportunity to trade down, if they want. I would not be opposed to a trade down this year because I think the 2nd and 3rd rounds are very strong in this draft.
jr15aggie

The very early impression I get is it will be a strong class (which is common) once you get into the 20-60 range. You can pretty much count on teams getting too cute in the teens and top 10. CBs, Edge Rushers, Top O-line, and the over-reach for QBs.

I'm hearing we could get a stud LB which wouldn't be a terrible idea. I can only imaging Parsons will be spending plenty of time playing the role of "Get the QB" so we still need LB help for the middle of the field.

What is everybody saying our top priority is? I'm assuming fixing the O-line is priority 1... they couldn't run block worth a darn last year and think most of the blame goes to our center and left guard.

I agree that it's a pretty good spot. We should be able to get a reasonably priced starter. I know there are many variables at play with free agency. But I'd think priority is oline and defensive stud. I think if there is any real stud at any defensive position they could decide to go with best player available.

Normally, the best part about picking in the 20's is that you can trade down for similar value or just take the best player on your board. It's a little dicier with the Cowboys, though. You never know when Jerry is going to gamble on some stud athlete waving giant red flags in both hands

This is a name I'm going to really watch...

Travon Walker, DE, Georgia.

This is a guy that has flow a bit under the radar but some are saying that in 3 years, he could very easily be the best pure pass rusher to come out of this class. Would love to snag him at 24.
