Texans fans love to pull the more playoff wins card, all 4 of those wins were in the wild card round, just like the Cowboys 3, but they fail to mention the 2 other times in that time span that the Cowboys had a bye and lost in the division round, so by my count the Texans made it and lost in the divisional round 4 times, the Cowboys did the same 5 times. Those seasons with a bye ended the same as those Playoff wins the Texans fans love to tout. Either way both are mediocre at best during the time frame being discussed, and both have wasted the careers of some great players.
I don't think Texans fans "love to pull the more playoff wins car." They just bring it up when delusional Cowboy fan comes around acting like they've accomplished anything since the Texans have been in the league. The fact that there's even an argument to be made about who's been better since 2002 is a testament to how irrelevant the Cowboys have been. Texans have been somewhere between horrible and mediocre with one or two standout seasons for 15+ years. The high and mighty cowboys arguably have fallen short of that, equaled that, or maybe slightly outperformed that.....yet maintain their delusional expectations from the 90's.

I like Watson, but his pocket presence is bad and you either have pocket presence or you don't. I don't think you can learn that trait.

His OL does him no favors.

Titus Howard was getting straight abused last night. Seriously I don't know how many times he was beat on the first move then just standing there looking for someone to block.

He's on his way to being another wasted picked.

Early on he was getting rid of the ball quickly and the offense looked good on a couple of drives. Later in the game when they didn't need to respect our run game things crumbled quickly.

I think he takes sacks he wouldn't if he felt pressure better.

Fair enough, my argument wasn't meant to come off as high and mighty delusional Cowboys fan, even though it did. I agree with you in the sense that both have been mediocre with a couple of decent seasons sprinkled in since the Texans have been a team and it is definitely more pathetic for the Cowboys since they were not an expansion team and have a history. I was a kid when the Cowboys last won the Super Bowl and for the vast majority of my life they have been not good.

Pretty much spot on. Some amazing videos of our offensive line doing absolutely nothing.

I watched Moneyball again the other day, it just makes me think that O'Brien tries to be Billy Beane, but the same rules don't apply to football.

Thoughts on last night:

  • The offense appeared to come out with a plan and the script the first quarter and part of the second quarter worked well. David Johnson looked good, better than I anticipated.
  • It seemed that as the game went on and the Chiefs started bringing different looks, Texans offense didn't know how to adjust and didn't play with a sense of urgency. I attribute this to a few things including limited offseason reps, new personnel, and, if Kelly really is calling plays, an inexperienced OC.
  • Deshaun has a real problem going through pre-snap and progressions. He locks in on a single receiver way too much. This was Hopkins last year, but last night was Fuller (31% of targets). This has been a problem for Deshaun in past years.
  • The new receivers were ghosts, specifically Randall Cobb. Many times last night I forgot he was on the team. I am hopeful that with increased reps the chemistry builds and Cooks/Cobb work themselves into a bigger role.
  • Deshaun didn't seem to be much of a leader last night. I was disappointed because when the Texans got punched in the mouth in the third quarter, I thought Deshaun could rally the troops and respond. That didn't happen.
  • The defense is a disaster. I don't see how this will get any better. There is just not much talent on the line or in the secondary. I expect them to get roasted by any team with good QB/WR. There is zero pressure, again, a problem they had last year.
Let's hope that the players are pissed off and approach the rest of the season with a sense of urgency. Last night I felt like the Texans treated the game as a preseason game, the Chiefs did not.

If there was any game to be pissed off for and have a sense of urgency it was that one.

The team that busted you in mouth and came back down 24, Thurs night, opening game of the NFL season.

They looked completely uninterested. Just going through the motions like we're just trying to get out of town.

If I was the best at what I did in my field and my incompetent ass boss/employer voluntarily let me go to bring in a lesser replacement...and then I landed myself in a better situation financially...AND THEN the same boss/employer was ridiculed to hell because of it while also failing during their first foray into a project without my help. My god. Hop must be some kind of saint because I for damn sure would have fired off more than a one word tweet.

Yep...enjoy being on a team that will have the same record as the Texans.

Speaking of uninterested, I noticed several times before the player was tackled Watt was already pulled up and walking in the background. It used to be Watt was always around the ball whether it was at the line or 20 yards downfield. It could be conditioning since the defense was on the field so long.

He did not look as fit as I would have expected. Looked skinnier and slow. There was one play in particular he chased down the running back on the far side and looked like he was 80 years old.

All the political bull**** aside, the Texans just aren't ever going to get it done with Bill O'Brien. I do not understand the hold that man has on the organization. I know he's a good man especially when you factor in what they have dealt with in the health one of their sons, but after actually promoting the man last year I've just been baffled. He's just not a good coach, he needs to move on.

I think he's just done. He's a name now not a player you have to reckon with. They still highlight him on the telestrator but it's more about how the other team is handling him.

I think JJ is still a decent player. He still disrupts plays, but he is nowhere near the player he was. Injuries will do that.

He's about 75% of the player he used to be. He's one of the better defensive lineman in the league, but he'll never be the dominant player he was.

Hopkins going off in his Cardinals debut...150 yards & TD (that put Arizona ahead in the 4th quarter)

edit...ruled down at the 1-yard line

Going to be a long season. Do we have a first round pick next year? Need to get rid of BOB before he trades away any more.

Good news! We don't have a first or a second round pick next year so no worries about BOB wasting them!

Well he needs to go because he isn't good at his job, who cares about him being a good person or dad. As his mentor says, "do your job"

Some good news for Miami, I guess:

Quote:

The Texans have held the first overall draft pick three times in franchise history. This happened in the April 2002 draft, the April 2006 draft and the May 2014 draft.

Coincidentally, each time we've picked first has followed the release of a new Xbox console. The original Xbox in November 2001, the Xbox 360 in November 2005 and the Xbox One in November 2013.

As you might have heard, Microsoft is planning to release the next Xbox, the Xbox Series X/S, this coming November. And if history repeats itself, that can only mean one thing...
