I watched Moneyball again the other day, it just makes me think that O'Brien tries to be Billy Beane, but the same rules don't apply to football. You can't trade away Hopkins and recreate him in the aggregate. The sum of Brandon Cooks, Randall Cobb, and David Johnson isn't equal to Hopkins and Carlos Hyde from last year. Hopkins was the guy that Watson always had to rely on. Even if completely healthy, Will Fuller isn't going to be that guy. I do not understand how O'Brien was unable to get a single 1st round pick for Hopkins, while also being saddled with Johnson's contract, and 2020 was a great draft for WR's. I have no issue trading any player if the value is there, including Watson, getting pennies on the dollar is inexcusable when you don't have to trade a guy that's under contract.
Last night was really disappointing, I was only able to watch the first half before going to bed, but that was enough.
I try to disregard the politics during my sports viewing, whether the guys want to stand or kneel for the anthem, I can deal with it. The entire team staying in the locker room is cowardly in my opinion. It feels like guys are masking their beliefs. If you have the conviction for one or the other, why do you hide it? It has nothing to do with unity, it's a cop out. Even if O'Brien kneels with the players, if he believes that's the move for him, so be it, it's better than what they did last night.
