This a perfect example of what so many GOPers are tired of. Many folks are beginning to feel embarrassed they supported Trump which will only grow worse during his final two years. His approval rating will continue to drop and he will continue to double and triple down on the stupidity.

We're already seeing the start of it with many GOP politicians distancing themselves from Trump during the mid-terms. Even this board will eventually turn on him in large scale too.

No one is feeling embarrassed they supported Trump.

If you had some stars and a history of supporting Trump, this post would have more credibility.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

First of all, our allies only want our money and military. Don't kid yourself on that. I'm tired of giving them that for free so they can play in their socialist playground with their policies. They are now living with the consequences of their open borders and excessive welfare state.

What corruption are you talking about? It's something the left throws around, but light on evidence.

Trump has done a lot of good things - sealing the border, fewer fentanyl deaths, lower crime numbers, going after fraud, closing USAID, ramping up O&G production, securing the western hemisphere, etc. I want more deportations and prosecutions of fraud. He is perfect? No. But a hell of a lot better than Harris.

If you think the left vilifying GOP candidates will stop when Trump leaves office, Mitt Romney would like to speak to you. Doesn't matter who runs for the red team, there will be so much drama ginned up. After the 2012 election cycle, this is our new normal. Dem is the savior of democracy (even though this is a republic) and the Reb is the next coming of Hitler, Satan, etc. (but not Stalin, Mao, or Lenin because the left likes those guys).

Disagree. The distancing is from RINOs. Others may distance to combat liberal media, which is about 90% .
Unfortunately RINOs control all of Congress. Consequently we are not getting judicial appointments to help down the road.

It will be interesting. Trump's brand of grievance politics has grown the party among working class white voters while his idiotic antics, unhinged twitter rants, weird personal vendettas, and general clownish-ness have turned away educated middle class voters. His antics also motivate turnout from the other side instead of a more standard GOP candidate. Not to mention his liberal policies like tariffs drove prices up and ignored the most important thing he should have been focusing on, which will almost definitely cause the house and possibly the senate to flip in November.

Hopefully he endorses Rubio or Vance and we can get back to having an actual conservative leading the party instead of a drunken grandpa that needs his phone taken away from him. And hopefully at least some of the Trump only voters stick around to help keep the left out it of power.

Considering how insanely far left your party has gone, I think most Trump voters just recognized him for what he is - a necessary tool to keep the left from getting power and tanking the country.

In hindsight, Biden winning in '20 was even worse than if Trump would have won. We would have been done with the nonsense two years ago and would have largely moved on by now.

You're delusional. The vast majority of people who voted for Trump still believe in him. Your polls are trash. Your statement that many GOP politicians are distancing themselves from Trump may be true but they're the swamp. They only care about getting elected. They don't want to fix anything. Swamp.

Even when Trump is out of office, he will control to control the Republican Party by telling his followers who to vote for.

And we'll keep losing Senate seats and governorships because he selects ****ty candidates who's only qualification is they kiss his ass.

The Trump era ends only when Trump has passed away. (And no, I'm not wishing for him to die, merely a statement of fact.)
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

No actual conservative will ever wish they would have voted for Hillary or Kamala. That would be insane. Maybe a different primary vote, but the Democrat party is an absolute cancer that is desperately trying to kill this country. If you want positive change, encourage the Democrat party to go through a complete and total reformation.

huge lol here. He's not hiding it. He's selling inside information via an api. He's running his own high frequency trading operation that would make Pelosi blush. His opening act was a crypto rug pull.

TrumpFans may accept the grift as price of doing business and at least he's not a lib, but it is in fact happening and he's telling us straight to our faces.

Let me sum this up for many of us.

In 2016, 2020 and 2024, Trump was the superior candidate in the general election and I voted for him every time.

But I do look forward to voting for a more mainline conservative in 2028 like Vance, DeSantis or Rubio.

EDIT: And I will be thankful to Trump for all time for his SCOTUS appointments that led to the overturn of Roe v. Wade, the single most important issue to me since I turned voting age.

Trump loves accusing others of being RINOs. Yet he has ballooned the national debt, levied massive tariff taxes, increased state control/intervention (and ownership) of markets, increased government overreach via executive orders, increased federal power over states, undermined the value of the USD, and disregarded the rule of law.

As for international policy, it isn't conversative or liberal, it's just discombobulated, ineffective, and counter-productive.

Trump, however, is savaging the Republican brand and needs to go.

Trump's personality is a lot, and always has been. He's never changed. He's also had a populist streak to him, and that hasn't changed.

But the Republican party he took over was 'savaging' the Republican brand a lot more than he has by turning into a meek, passive, moderate, brand that kept losing.

I welcome a Rubio type with 'America First' policies. But I have no desire to go back to the Romney/Boehner/Jeb do-nothing moderate Republicans after Trump is gone.

Gee, every day Trump travels to one or two states, and holds campaign rallies to packed houses with thousands waiting/standing outside, while the Democrat wannabes can't even draw flies to a rally with a bag of dead fish...but the MSM doesn't report any of this, so there are many sheep who never see reality. Thanks to the top post today for exposing just how many sheep we have on TexAgs...the same sheep posting on an athletic sports board who are going to vote for a freak that endorses boys playing and competing in girls sports.

.
No, there aren't.

Then why are so many conservative economists calling Trumps second term perhaps the least conservative economy in the last 4-5 decades?

A paragraph from the Center-Right Fortune magazine:

" In 2024 Donald Trump based his reelection campaign's rhetoric on deregulation and tax cuts to free the private sector from burdensome regulations and to stimulate economic activity. In practice, Trump 2.0's economy has looked less like that small-C conservative ideal and more like the protectionist and mercantilist status quo of the early 20th century."

You can say "no" all you want, but a lot of experts, of all political leanings, disagree with you.
