Bwaahahahahahahaha

He is not against it! He's done a 180 on every position he holds to try to win the seat. And you fell for it.

Its pure delusion!

Uh, supporting that parents can decide to have their minor kids surgically transitioned IS ENDORSING GENDER SURGERY FOR MINORS!

No one said he wanted to forcibly transition kids without parental consent.

There are two positions:

1. gender surgery for minors is illegal. Period! That is what the right supports.
2. gender surgery for minors is legal. That is what Tally endorses and supports.

Good. Would love to see us go harder on border control for a change. Was one of the things I actually liked about Trump despite how ICE went about it initially.

There is no such thing as trans children. The fact that you think there are and would be fine if your kids were somehow trans is frankly sickening and derelict as a parent.
And hijacking this position as the "normie" position is typical left-wing strategy of stealing words and changing their meaning to something they are not. There is nothing normie about this issue no matter what angle you are trying to ply.

I'm sorry reality is sickening for you. The world's a messy place sometimes. As icky as you find the subject, that doesn't change the fact that every major medical organization on the planet (and I'm sure you'll find some fringe whacko group to share) supports gender affirming care for minors (not necessarily surgery) and recognizes that gender dysphoria is often experienced/observed in children well before puberty. You can't wish away trans kids.

My response to whomever had a death wish via even talking to my son about sex changes would be a single, very physical one. It would involve size 17 steeltoe work boots turned into size 17 suppositories.

I mean, I guess I'm just not such a big snowflake. I'm not scared of trans people or the idea that my kids could grow up to be gay or trans. I don't see any evidence that they are, but it wouldn't panic me. I can handle my big feelings about other peoples words and ideas without lashing out. It might feel like toughness in the moment, but I'd really just be showing others that I'm weak and small minded.

My son is 8. There's zero reason to speak to sex or sexual orientation/gender at 8.
If he grows up gay, so be it. But leave the kids alone. Its not a difficult concept. Nor is the concept of ****ing Around and Finding Out.

With complete respect, I disagree. I'm not going to tell anyone how to raise their kid, but I'll share my experience. I grew up in a home where we never discussed sex, sexuality, puberty or intimacy. There was maybe one awkward question when I was 14, but that's it.

With my kids, we started talking with them about their bodies probably around 5 or 6 years old. It started with really simple stuff like the real names of body parts (including how boys and girls have different parts) and "yes, daddy and grandpa were babies just like you and how cool is it that your body will go through these amazing changes when you grow up like us." And it was surprisingly easy to read those books with my kids and it wasn't awkward for them or me. And that eventually included conversations about how families can come in all forms and sometimes a kid has two mommies or two daddies. And when we got into junior high age there were a lot more conversations about puberty, sex, sexuality, etc. Thankfully there was a church class to handle a lot of the heavy lifting for junior high. My daughter hit puberty while my son was still 8 or 9. I'm really thankfully that neither of them had to feel ashamed or embarrassed about the changes she was experiencing. I think that had a lot to do with having conversations when they were young so all this stuff just seemed normal.

The earlier you start talking with your kids about this stuff, the less stigma there will be and the more likely they are to come to you as their trusted person when questions come up. Plus, research shows that kids who learn about this stuff early are more likely to delay sexual activity until they're older. 8 may feel really young to you, but girls in your son's school are going to start puberty as early as 9. And I am willing to bet he and his classmates are noticing teachers or parents who are gay or trans or somehow "different". Kids are super observant. They're going to start talking with each other whether or not you're having conversations.

My unsolicited advice would be to talk with your pediatrician and ask what topics/conversations they recommend for that age and what resources they have. Feel free to ignore.

I didn't frame the original premise. bobbranco raised the question of letting others suggest surgery for my kids. I was just responding to his implied premise of no parental consent.

And none of that changes the fact that Talarico hasn't supported the idea of letting parents get surgery for their kids. It hasn't happened. You are making it up.

You know, a study of this found in a given year (2019) exactly 0 kids 12 or younger getting gender affirming surgery in the US. There were 150 kids 13-17 who did get gender affirming surgery. And 97% of those, 146 cases, were cisgender males getting chest reduction procedures because their hormones triggered excess growth up top and they wanted to appear more masculine. Keeping boys from being men, that's what the right supports.

SB14 also banned other forms of gender-affirming care, like counseling/therapy. Talarico proposed an amendment to still allow those other forms of care, but it wasn't adopted. That's why he voted against it.

SB1257 didn't restrict gender-affirming surgery or other forms or gender-affirming care, so not sure how it's relevant here. And I haven't heard Talarico explain the reason for his vote.

I've never understood why anyone would vote for a Democrat, regardless of their financial status. And again, I am not following along someone's conspiracy theory, so take your sanity insinuation and shove it.

Yeah, I could vote for a third party, but that's a throw-away that likely leads to one less vote for the one who would actually support my stances on a wide variety of issues and vote accordingly. Your high values / high character guy would at the very least be considering parents who want to protect their kids from mental illness induced surgical procedures that will impact them for the rest of their lives as child abusers.

It is not about the candidate so much as the party platform. The candidates are so controlled by party at the national level and by their complex layers of permanent staff and network of special interests and party structure that you really are mostly voting for a platform and stated policy than a representative candidate.

I think much of Democrat policy is destructive, reckless, and socially corrosive and will do much long term harm to the people in general and particularly to those groups they claim to most want to help. It is self serving and exploitative, and I'll oppose anything that advances it, and any candidate that enables it, which almost every Democrat candidate would do.

I think mental health and mental illness should be taken seriously. I've had family members deal with anxiety, depression and ADHD in the past.

Don't ignore the mental illness of gender dysphoria enabled by activists and cultural marxists that turns kids into murderers and suicide machines. Common sense should be used and realize the medical industry only enables the mental illness to create lifelong patients. The experimentation on and mutilation of children is equivalent to Mengele's evil.

The only thing that sickens me about this are the adults that support and enable this absolute degeneracy and abuse of children. It's disgusting to try and justify this.

As bobranco said, this is Mengele level evil. Pedos rejoice!

Never heard him say that. I've heard his "welcome mat on the porch, lock on the door" line several times. Got a link?

In the time I have this morning, I'm not going to find a link with this. I had never heard of this heretical snake until he beat whatever that gal's name is in the primary. But with this https://www.dailysignal.com/2026/07/16/talarico-border-security-voting-record/ voting record, his "welcome matt and a lock" statement are just a ruse to get votes from the gullible.

I guess this must be another thing that he's said without using words? Can anyone else hear Talarico's voice? Is he in the room with you now? You end up with a distorted reality when you make someone "say" whatever you want.

I don't have a problem with any of the votes in the article you linked. These were all votes he made in the TEXAS HOUSE, not the US Senate. It's the federal government's job to handle immigration. Make Washington fix it instead of throwing Texas state tax dollars at the problem. Plus, we should not have a patchwork system where every state makes up their own immigration laws. These are performative votes at the state level so Republicans can act "serious about the border."

Why do you keep asking for speculation on scenarios neither I nor Talarico are suggesting? Despite your amazing thought-crime telepathic abilities, no one is calling for an end to the oil economy. How do you imagine that would even happen? Do you think this is something voters want or would tolerate? Would corporate donors accept it? Would courts allow it? This isn't a serious scenario you're trying to argue about.

I'm trying to parse out what you're saying and I'm reading between the lines here. Let me make sure I'm understanding you.

Are you saying:
1 - Gender dysphoria is not naturally occurring
2 - Gender dysphoria is caused by activists
3 - Children experiencing gender dysphoria are more likely to murder
4 - Children experiencing gender dysphoria are more likely to commit suicide
5 - Mental health professionals only create lifelong patients instead of addressing mental illness and we should ignore their guidance
6 - Instead, we should apply common sense to address gender dysphoria

Do I have that right? Correct me if I'm misinterpreting anything. What common sense approaches should be adopted?

Oh really? Please list for me all the medical organizations that don't support some combination of counseling, social transition, hormone therapy, puberty blockers or surgery for transgender minor? Multiple organizations recommend surgery be delayed until adulthood, which is fine. But they still recommend initial counseling to potentially be followed by other types of care if deemed appropriate. That is still gender-affirming care because trans kids are real. Bans enacted by politicians are not the same thing as recommendations from medical professionals.

That holier-than-thou mentality prevalent among damn near everyone who votes such as you do. Let me guess, in addition to being a conspiracy theorist and hearing voices in my head or whatever, I must also be uneducated?

You have revealed yourself to be the America-hating Democrat that you are. No one with any level of sense, common or otherwise, can look at a heretic like Talarico and think, this is good for Texas and the United States.

You point out your top 5% thing. That's great for you, but no one gives a crap about that. I don't even know where I might be in such an irrelevant statistic. All I know is that where ever I place on that list, it is good for me and my family. But you do you - boast about all your wealth or whatever, vote for freaks who want to contribute to the downfall of this nation as it was founded and has existed for 250 years, and go back to all your snobbish friends in Dallas and snicker about how superior you are to real Texans and real Americans.

What else are you going to outright lie about or act so obtusely as to effectively be the same thing?

From the Texas Tribune (a left-wing media outlet):

Quote:

In 2022, he explicitly advocated transitioning away from fossil fuels. During a February 2022 discussion about Texas's energy system, Talarico stated:
Quote:

"Fossil fuels are destroying the planet."

He compared Texas's dependence on fossil fuels to being the leading supplier of cassette tapes in 1988.

He continued:
Quote:

"It's time to transition because that's not going to last very long."

Because they care about the economy, not social issues, and the GOP is focused on social issues (and renaming things) while doing everything in their power (tariffs, wars) to make the economy worse. They are tired of watching Trump line his pockets and building monuments to himself because, in his own words, "Nobody will after I'm out of office."
They don't give a crap about trans people or gays. They are pissed that diesel is up 66% which is driving up the cost of everything else. But hey, if you say AI, you are the enemy. That level of insanity needs a check and balance that the GOP in Congress has failed to provide.

Well for one thing I don't think they will do it. But if they did, the economy would get a boost from much less taco economic policy. He comes up with something new every single day. Try making long term business decisions when the President is whipsawing on his tariffs whenever he feels slighted?

Hakeem has already said their priorities are to impeach Trump, do investigations of Republicans, and increase spending. Was reported in WSJ last week.
