Because they care about the economy, not social issues, and the GOP is focused on social issues (and renaming things) while doing everything in their power (tariffs, wars) to make the economy worse. They are tired of watching Trump line his pockets and building monuments to himself because, in his own words, "Nobody will after I'm out of office."
They don't give a crap about trans people or gays. They are pissed that diesel is up 66% which is driving up the cost of everything else. But hey, if you say AI, you are the enemy. That level of insanity needs a check and balance that the GOP in Congress has failed to provide.

Uh huh.

And how is impeaching Trump, which is the entire Dim agenda, going to improve the economy?

Well for one thing I don't think they will do it. But if they did, the economy would get a boost from much less taco economic policy. He comes up with something new every single day. Try making long term business decisions when the President is whipsawing on his tariffs whenever he feels slighted?

Obvious that you don't keep up with your leftist masters.

Hakeem has already said their priorities are to impeach Trump, do investigations of Republicans, and increase spending. Was reported in WSJ last week.

They would rather go after Hegseth and Kennedy who, I might add, a lot of Republicans would vote for.

Changed his tune then. Internal polling must be telling them to focus on real stuff.

Nope

Key Shifts Among Republican Voters

Approval Rating Drops: Trump's approval rating among self-identified Republicans has declined from roughly 86%89% at the start of 2025 down to around 73% in recent tracking.
Cost of Living Concerns: According to polling by Ipsos, more Republicans now disapprove than approve of Trump's handling of the cost of living and the economy, with national gas prices averaging around $4.48 a gallon and rising.
Foreign Policy Frustration: A majority of votersincluding a portion of the GOP baseexpress frustration over the war with Iran, which began in February 2026 and has impacted household budgets and energy markets.
Desire for Independence: A POLITICO Poll found that 26% of people who backed Trump in 2024 believe GOP candidates should actively break with the president to win in competitive races.
NBC poll showed voters are more anxious about restraining Trump: 50% say they're more concerned that Republicans will go too far in supporting Trump if they keep control of Congress, while 42% are more concerned Democrats will obstruct the president if they win control of Congress. Independents lean 45%-30% toward greater concern that Republicans will go too far supporting Trump.

If he was still going to be there. Thomas Massie. But the reason they didn't vote on his bill was they didn't want to lose.

You have an agenda and it is aligned with Talarico's degeneracy.

We can disagree and still have a conversation. Why won't you just lay out your position? I'll read it.
You're saying:
1 - Gender dysphoria is not naturally occurring
2 - Gender dysphoria is caused by activists
3 - Children experiencing gender dysphoria are more likely to murder
4 - Children experiencing gender dysphoria are more likely to commit suicide
5 - Mental health professionals only create lifelong patients instead of addressing mental illness and we should ignore their guidance
6 - Instead, we should apply common sense to address gender dysphoria

What are the common sense approaches?

Ah, there it is.

That holier-than-thou mentality prevalent among damn near everyone who votes such as you do. Let me guess, in addition to being a conspiracy theorist and hearing voices in my head or whatever, I must also be uneducated?

You have revealed yourself to be the America-hating Democrat that you are. No one with any level of sense, common or otherwise, can look at a heretic like Talarico and think, this is good for Texas and the United States.

You point out your top 5% thing. That's great for you, but no one gives a crap about that. I don't even know where I might be in such an irrelevant statistic. All I know is that where ever I place on that list, it is good for me and my family. But you do you - boast about all your wealth or whatever, vote for freaks who want to contribute to the downfall of this nation as it was founded and has existed for 250 years, and go back to all your snobbish friends in Dallas and snicker about how superior you are to real Texans and real Americans.

The thread was asking about the opinions of wealthy Dallas adults who will vote Democratic, that wasn't my premise. If he was asking about gullible MAGA rubes from Katy, I just would have stayed out of it. And also the snickering is fun.

Go read the WPATH files and stop shilling for purely evil people, because you clearly have no clue what you are talking about.

Is making stuff up and changing the subject usually a winning strategy for you? The original silly positions I called out were that a) Talarico endorses surgery for kids (he doesn't) and that b) trans kids don't exist (they do). Nothing you posted has anything to do with that, so I don't know who you're arguing with. I did notice you couldn't come up with any evidence to defend your made up position, so thanks for conceding that point.

I think this is mostly right, but also a lot of people care about social issues.

Around DFW there's just been lots of nasty racist stuff in the news. You have Bo French and his stupid comments. You have all the anti-Indian noise in Frisco. You have the anti-Sharia nonsense in McKinney. Plus the occasional Nazi protest in the northern suburbs. Plenty of people see this for the straight racism it is and want nothing to do with it. This is exactly why Karl Rove is calling out the party, and he's no radical marxist.

The other thing not getting talked about is schools. The Dems aren't talking out, but a lot of people pissed about school vouchers. They're also pissed that Abbott held public school funding hostage to get the vouchers. And we're closing schools while the state sits on a massive rainy day fund. On top of that they see Dan Patrick continuing to attack school libraries. (total tangent, but I saw that The Hatchet is on his list of inappropriate books to remove. absolutely nuts). People move to nice neighborhoods and put up with long commutes because they value their schools.

Public schools suck, as does all socialized idiocy.

Privatize, in entirety. The only way to have a good system.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Couple this mentality with general idiocy and you get Obama, Biden, etc. As much as it goes against common thinking, conservatives are more open minded than libs, at least when it comes to considering potential paths to success. This leads to a lot of traditionally republican voters opting for a liberal candidate, whereas libs are stuck in their ways and would never consider a republican.

You are on a roll here with your left wing talking points.

No one is talking about it because schools are closing in Texas primarily because of declining birth rates and population shifts. Most of these schools are in urban areas that are being hollowed out because of people moving out. Houston and Austin notably at the top of this list. Dallas is as well. Hell, Dallas had a wave of school closures back in the mid '00s because there simply weren't enough kids to justify some of their inner city schools.

So why would you spend money on schools where there are no kids?

You talk a good game but anyone doing a deep dive on your comments will expose your b.s. Just like I already did with your fossil fuel declaration which you ignored.

Quit lying and gas lighting the board.

True, but it doesn't mean they will support Republicans who will kiss Trump's ring either. If they don't like what Trump is doing, they aren't going to support people who let him do whatever he wants.
