Plenty of wealthy and intelligent jews and they typically vote dem. They are probably especially fond of Talarico because he makes a mockery of Christianity

Limousine liberals

You see them in all of the big cities. Drive through the King Williams' District in San Fran-Tonio. Gay Beto signs everywhere.

The economy has done much better under Democrat presidents than it has under Republicans. I would imagine that at least some of the wealthy Democrats in Dallas prefer a good economy. Others probably don't like what they perceive to be racist Republican policies. One of my friends who was an independent swore to me after the Access Hollywood tape that she'd never vote for another Republican until the party repudiated President Trump. So that could be a reason for some of them, especially women.

Mind you, these are just guesses. I don't presume to speak for wealthy Dallas citizens, since I don't live there.

Joe and Hunter Biden agree with you.

In my Airbnb neighborhood across 75 from Highland Park and Southern Methodist University, there are a lot of Talarico and Gina and other leftist signs in the yards.

maybe two for Paxton.

same thing up in neighborhoods in Richardson near the Park we hike at.

I can understand that because they are more lower income and lower educated in Richardson.

but this neighborhood in the city of Dallas and within a mile of SMU are very wealthy, educated and have good jobs. they aren't the college idiots.

and still they want to bring socialism to the country-

even though THEY MADE THEIR PRIVILEGED LIFE BASED ON CAPITALISM.

My wife works in HP and she said talarico signs are everywhere. I think it's a combination of do-gooding and also I think they are secular yet feel guilt so instead of contributing their money to help people they want to use other people's money forcefully to help others.

To offset the emotional responses, some very well off folks vote democrat simply because of cultural or social influence. It's that simple. Often, their line of work may dictate that as well. If they are tech or legal that they tend to lean left. Or, maybe they inherited their wealth. If they didn't earn it, but inherited it, then they may value liberal ideals. In other words, the consequences don't impact them.

It's also just easier. No one will criticize you or boycott you or your company if you're voting dem. On the other hand you could be doxed and ruined if you come out conservative.

Conservatives have stopped putting signs in their yard because they don't want to be targeted.

We laugh and point at people who have Talarico signs in their yard.

This is the reality. You don't want Republican bumper stickers or yard signs because you know it puts a target on you.

Good luck with getting a reasonable answer to the OP question. I'm still struggling to understand how anybody could vote democrat, much less the wealthy. Besides the selfish & lazy wanting the government to redistribute some unearned money in their direction, of course.

Exactly!

Not a new phenomenon.

Lots of rich white liberals out there. Just about all of them are rich due to the work of their parents/grandparents.

Trump won Highland Park and University Park by 30+ points last election. Trump similarly blew out Kamala in Houston in River Oaks, Memorial, etc.

So a neighborhood might have 600 Republicans and 300 Dems, but you drive around and see 100 Dem signs and very few Republican signs, because the Republican signs and houses will be vandalized.

Lived in Lakewood for 30 years, so I experienced quite a bit of this. Several reasons:
1-Virtue signaling. They are definetely a go-along with the crowd group
2-They think Republicans are dumb. I have been told this enumerous times. "Intelligent people can see that the Democrats are much smarter, as politicians and as voters, than Republicans"
3-They truly believe Republicans stand for anti-gay, racism, anti immigrant, islamophobia, and all the other bad 'isms. This is part of the genesis of the 'Republicans are dumb' belief

The typical person in my old neighborhood was a lawyer. The next most typical person worked in IT. As has been stated, those are two industries that are bastions of Democrat thinking and voting.

As an aside, I do not believe that the typical male member at DCC is a Democrat. I've known many in that cohort, and they were all staunchly conservative. Their wives, on the other hand...

The party that doesn't want you to believe sex is binary wants you to be completely binary with your vote.

They are counting on the sophomoric thinking that says Trump bad so the alternative must be good (or at least better).

The reality is Trump does do some bad things, but the alternative is far worse.

It's a shame that a significant chunk of our population can't handle basic logic.

Maybe the democrat campaigns are more active in distributing the signs out. I am a life long rebublican voter and no one on the Paxton team has contacted me about putting a sign in my yard.

Those Talarico signs may be the vocal minority. HP is redder than the surrounding area.

They are probably tired of the antics going on now. A lot of this is not making life better within this nation. It is a clown show which will only end when these jokers are kicked out of office.

M Streets? I grew up and ran in Lakewood/M Streets/White Rock/Lake Highlands.

Ladies and gents! You give your kids to Caesar… And you're surprised when they come home as Romans?

They haven't taught civics anywhere in Texas since the early 80s. Parents must teach the concepts of free enterprise and the dangers of socialism. It sure as heck not taught in school.

Rich people don't think "eat the rich" actually applies to them. Even all the way up to billionaires. Same for Hollywood actors and all. They want to tax the "evil" billionaires, but they're one of the good guys

First, women want state sanctioned, normalized abortion. Second, have reached a point where a great deal of our economy is dependent, directly or indirectly, upon government contracts. Third, the 20+ years of Trump bashing that has been effective because our society is increasingly making decisions based on emotion.

I have pondered the same thing and think there are two contributing factors. Of course these don't account for everyone but a lot fall into these categories:

1. Inherited money - they have no idea how money is made or earned but have always had it and now feel entitled and secure. This gives them the luxury of supporting idiocy while knowing they are shielded from the negative consequences of these policies (at least in their minds). Spoiler alert: when the whole US economy comes crashing down, the higher you are, the harder the fall.

2. Transplants - self explanatory.

There's a lot of conflating of different types of urban white neighborhoods into one "nice neighborhood" bucket. But they are vastly different.

I'll use Houston examples but you have the same in Dallas and other cities:
  • Inherited wealth/socialite/CEO neighborhoods (eg Memorial and River Oaks): Republican +10 to +30
  • Yuppie/Professional neighborhoods (West U, GOOF, Bellaire): +10 to +20 Dem (driven by lawyers and 'diversity')
  • Artsy/Trendy Neighborhoods (Heights and Montrose): +40 or more Dem
Highland Park is in the first category. It is +33 Republican. Do not mistake Talarico yard signs for "Highland Park is blue"...it is not, it will go for Paxton.

It is very easy to explain. Regardless of income, many Americans have real values, principles, honor, and integrity. They take their civic responsibilities and duties to our country seriously. To those Americans, life here in the U.S. and U.S. democracy and rule of law and the future of our country are not a gigantic "get rich" con game and corrupt grifting opportunity like it is for Trump, Paxton, and the rest of the Trump-aligned faction who currently control the Congress, White House, Executive Branch, and at least 2 seats of the SCOTUS.

Otoh, maybe they just don't like Paxton.

For a certain economic stratum, it's socially unacceptable to support Republicans...

to them, Republicans (ironically) represent ignorance, intolerance and lack of empathy. The Talarico yard signs are meant to send a message to their other learjet liberal friends from whom they crave acceptance: "We're not one of them".
