It is very easy to explain. Regardless of income, many Americans have real values, principles, honor, and integrity. They take their civic responsibilities and duties to our country seriously. To those Americans, life here in the U.S. and U.S. democracy and rule of law and the future of our country are not a gigantic "get rich" con game and corrupt grifting opportunity like it is for Trump, Paxton, and the rest of the Trump-aligned faction who currently control the Congress, White House, Executive Branch, and at least 2 seats of the SCOTUS.

#botlike #talkingpoints

The reality, as I've already stated, is that Democrats live in urban areas. Regardless of wealth. Has nothing to do with Trump. Dallas County has been blue long before Trump came along.

Remind yourselves of the political red/blue maps.

While I don't think any President deserves blame or Credit for either the stock market or the economy, the statement is fair. It is likely dumb luck.

George W. had the bad luck of being elected into on recession and leaving amidst the worst recession since the Great Depression with more than 10% unemployment. Trump was smacked with the COVID recession in term one.

Nixon and Ford had to ride out the Stagflationary period that was so bad that the term "Misery Index" was created by economists.

Herbert Hoover had the Great Depression uncork under his term and is still criticized for his limp response. Two GOP senators ginned up the Smoot Hawley Act against the advice of most every economist and Hoover signed it into law.

Here we are 100 years later and a Republican administration is pitching the same protectionist measures and is getting pilloried by angry voters.

Dems are not that much better but the stats tend to work in their favor as they have been elected into the bottoming of economic cycles and get the benefit of the eventual recovery.

At the zip code level rather than county level, HP and UP are red dots in a sea of blue. But the neighborhood that the OP referenced is outside those dots. It's "nicer", but not "nicest".

That is not a very helpful distinction though.

Dallas has a very long tail of low income minority voters and a much smaller percentage of ultra high net worth to billionaire folks, many of whom lean Dem.

Mark Cuban is one end of the spectrum and John Wiley Price is on the other.

Their rich husbands are probably swamp rats that donate to both parties and rub elbows with people like the Bushes. It is not about Republicans. It is about Trump not being in their circle of influence.

Right. My only point is that no one should be confused by wealthy people who vote Democrat. Many of them always have regardless of who is POTUS. And most of those people live in urban areas regardless of overall state politics because that's where Democrats of all stripes congregate. Once you hit 1M people, places go blue. Almost inevitable.

All blue:

  • Dallas County
  • Travis County
  • Harris County
  • Bexar County
Tarrant County is now a hair over 1M and will go blue soon. Trump only won by 3 pts last time.

Also, Dallas has a **** ton of HNW (below UHNW) people that vote Dem. Those numbers are legion there. Dallas is rich as *****

Otoh, maybe they just don't like Paxton.

Real values like killing babies, letting sexually perverted people get "married" and adopt kids and perform surgeries on them to show off their "values"? Like defunding the police? Like bending over to help Islamists because of Freedom of Religion but never once standing up for Judeo-Christian principles the country was built upon? Like cancel culture for not wanting to even hear a syllable about their takes being wrong?

Maybe you should just stick to the liberal line of your last sentence--it's at least less BSC than the first sentence. And that's not even talking about the hypocrisy of allowing tens of millions of illegals into the country.

Agreed. We are maybe talking about different subjects as Dallas Metro and City of Dallas are two different things. The difference to me is that much of the new HNW crowd has migrated to the suburbs and those are reliably Republican in aggregate.

Most wealth in actual Dallas (as the city limits) is highly concentrated in the short stretch from Lemmon Avenue up to 635 and between Central Expressway and Midway Road. Preston Hollow and the Park Cities soak up most of it.

But yes, you make accurate and good points.

Their status on the cocktail/social circuit.

These people are all (in their minds) just a single step away from the NYC/LA crowd so they have to act the same.

And for the truly wealthy, its just a mode of self-preservation. Donate to the right people, they get elected. Then they fund the right NGOs. Then the NGOs award fat contracts to the businesses that these people own.

So the truly rich get richer, the faux riche get to pretend that they're just as good as their "peers" in NYC/LA, and the suburban white ladies get invited to all the "right" influencer circles, etc.

Simple answer is their ideology.

Consider that poor people are often still conservative even when more liberal policies would appear to help them. Likewise wealthy people can and often do vote for policies that cost them more.

A wealthy person may be well enough off that doubling their tax isn't a significant change to their lifestyle and they believe in the (misguided) compassionate policies of the left.

A poor conservative may be happy to have less knowing they earned what they have.

It's all ideology.

maybe two for Paxton.

same thing up in neighborhoods in Richardson near the Park we hike at.

I can understand that because they are more lower income and lower educated in Richardson.

but this neighborhood in the city of Dallas and within a mile of SMU are very wealthy, educated and have good jobs. they aren't the college idiots.

and still they want to bring socialism to the country-

even though THEY MADE THEIR PRIVILEGED LIFE BASED ON CAPITALISM.

It makes ZERO sense.

But one thing I have realized...the libs like yard signs way more than Republicans. I wouldn't read too much into that. I am concerned that Polymarket and Kalshi have Talarico so far ahead but I'll believe it when I see it.

That's because conservatives know that if you put a conservative sign in your yard, some liberal is going to come destroy it.

This guy has an interesting take which maps pretty well.

TLDW: modernity travels hand-in-glove with an unspoken subversive religion of "anti-hitlerism." When an individual allows fear of association to the mustache to overshadow Biblical / traditional principles, they begin acting upon religious grounds rather than rational ones.

The economy has done much better under Democrat presidents than it has under Republicans. I would imagine that at least some of the wealthy Democrats in Dallas prefer a good economy. Others probably don't like what they perceive to be racist Republican policies. One of my friends who was an independent swore to me after the Access Hollywood tape that she'd never vote for another Republican until the party repudiated President Trump. So that could be a reason for some of them, especially women.

Mind you, these are just guesses. I don't presume to speak for wealthy Dallas citizens, since I don't live there.

LOL, the economy under Trump's first term was the best it's ever been. He would have certainly won re-election if it were not for the release of Covid, BLM, USAID/NGO's and everything those things brought.

Yep, filled with pretentious Jews and atheists who are rabidly liberal but don't want poor people anywhere near their backyard. Lots of white-guilt deadbeats living on trust fund/inheritance money too. Same with Rice Village and places like The Heights as well. I watched The Heights gentrify in real time from 2005 through 2012 or so. The trust fund hippies and rich godless liberals came flooding in. Obama signs out the @ss.

How does this mesh with Biden or Obama? The economy those clowns presided over was hardly doing much better than what we saw during Trump's first term as well as his current term. Clinton is the last D President I recall who was in office with a good economy. Carter was an utter disaster, yet Reagan was not.

Certainly, to some degree, but they also vote Dem because they are wealthy enough to absorb Democrats taking more from them up until now...for now. This allows them to virtue signal from a protected spot.

As the Dems continue to move ever leftward and DSA gets more and more influence, you will see more rich people abandon the Democrats.

The DSA are communists and want those people dead.
