When I look at the state of politics in America right now I think to myself that even though it will never happen, we're closer (mentally) to having a major 3rd political party than ever before. It seems like around 30-50% of the people on either side are unhappy with the state of politics within their own party.

The sane Democrats want to get rid of the fringe left identity politics from their party and get back to Unions, the economy, and boring topics like abortion and guns (joking). While some percent of Republicans just want to get back to fiscal conservatism and get rid of the populist crap and bad economics Trump has been pushing (and get rid of the bad image he has left the Republican party with as well).

Its a really weird time in American politics right now, that's for sure. I predict utter chaos in the upcoming elections, but I still think we are in the 4th quarter yet to reach the end of the game. I think in the end it will be the debt crisis that changes things. At some point, everything else will eventually cease to matter.

It will happen, and soon. All it is going to take is the economic depression that's already started. NOBODY with brain cells believes in Red or Blue, or any politician or government at all anymore. The world is changing fast.

The left has been running graft and patronage schemes for decades. There is no clean version of our government, and advocating for ideological purity will -- at this stage of the game -- lose the whole thing. Do what you have to do to win, because the alternative puts us on the path to plausible irrecoverable status in a few years.

Our electorate can't take an eight year admin doing what the Biden admin did, with a leftist legislature.

We can have ideology or we can have a country.

How exactly do you think this would drive competition? So the government is going to have a healthcare bill that instead of healthcare companies getting direct subsidies to provide lower cost services, they just take Social Security money and give it to you so you can go buy your own healthcare? It doesn't resolve the fundamental issues with healthcare in America and the money ends up in the same few companies pockets anyway.

Not to mention the fact he is holding hostage the idea of effectively governing as a way to coerce people to vote for his party.

This is a very dumb take.

So when we give it to the inscos, "it's a direct subsidy that lowers the cost". When it's given to the people, its now money taken from SS that does nothing. It no longer lowers your cost even though you have money to help pay for your policy.

Trump's dumbass idea, now no one is buying it.

The economy and job markets are a wreck, and his solution is to give out free money. Socialist!!

Kick out all work visas and put Americans to work again. No checks needed.

Trump keeps promising checks to Americans. Polls show voters may not be buying it.

Quote:

Giving out checks to Americans has emerged as one of President Trump's major messages in the final weeks of the campaign season.

But Americans are skeptical, as multiple polls show voters harbor serious doubts about whether Trump will deliver and whether the cost would hurt the economy.

The president is nevertheless determined to escalate the issue with 29 days until the midterm elections. This past weekend, he mentioned checks at every campaign stop and made a new pledge to send $90 to millions of seniors enrolled in Medicare Part B.

The payment is intended to offset October Medicare premiums and will be deposited this month, but Trump emphasized that it will come in the form of cash.
"Over 20 million seniors on Medicare will soon be receiving a deposit of nearly $100 directly into their bank accounts," he announced on Truth Social. "You'll get your money almost immediately."
The Trump administration also began sending out $500 checks to about 950,000 Obamacare enrollees at the beginning of this month, with Trump again repeating his much bigger promise of $5,000 checks to adult Americans if Republicans sweep the midterms.

Having a giant welfare state can be fascist, monarchy ,socialist, theocratic or democratic

Some of thes governing ideologies are more like a religion and less like a policy making system

Iran is probably a authoritarian military government which governs with the help of religious extremists

The Current Republican administration official religion is "conservatism" but their religion does not always determine their action
Just like there has always been drinking and dancing at Baylor

Yes, this is socialism.

But then when were we ever fully capitalist? We never were. We just pretended to be to keep the masses high on this drug.

The billionaires love capitalism until it blows up in their ugly faces, and they then beg the government for socialism and want to be bailed out. We saw this in 2008 during the bank failures and also when many sports teams want tax breaks to build stadiums.

We are significantly socialist in a way that the billionaires love.

If this is true, I'm actually impressed the government can be this efficient. Trump announces checks and they start going out in just a few days? That's incredible!

Not until the last of them are dead, and even then.

It does make one wonder how much better things will be once they're all gone.

Eh, for the most part we'll find it very soon.

They're lasting longer than expected, that's for sure. Gotta love science and medicine for a lot of that. Can't wait to see how long the rest of us last.

I think people that hate boomers should move to Canada where they have already begun implementing Logan's Run.

You will ultimately have to live with the same outcomes they have planned for boomers though.

Not familiar with Logan's Run or the latest wish list in Canada?

If Canada keeps on down the path they are headed, that might be like the Jews voluntarily lining up for trains with unknown destinations.

I tell you what, Mr. CPA. 90% of my working life I was well within the top 15-20% of tax payers. 16 years well within the top 2% and of those 5 within the top 1% of tax payers. Not my fault swamp creatures blew through the money. My man, Trump, is on the job cutting the waste, fraud and abuse then putting the money back into the pockets of those that paid it in, in the first place. In fact, you should thank me for paying more than my fair share for decades.

Trump is currently adding to the debt that your grandkids will have to end up paying for. Now young Republicans are rightfully calling out terrible government spending habits and the olds are clutching their pearls.

Meh. Almost every POTUS in history has added to the debt. Our debt is party agnostic.

But I'm glad it's becoming more of an issue with people. Hitting $40T was clearly a psychological barrier that has triggered more people in being concerned about it. It's going to take way more consternation by genpop to force Washington to do something about it. You also have The Fed slyly putting the onus on the bond market to tell us that which is smart.

Social Security and Medicare are redistribution programs from the young and healthy to the old and sick.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that young Conservatives have less appetite for expanding government welfare and entitlement programs when their costs of living are higher than ever.
