When I look at the state of politics in America right now I think to myself that even though it will never happen, we're closer (mentally) to having a major 3rd political party than ever before. It seems like around 30-50% of the people on either side are unhappy with the state of politics within their own party.
The sane Democrats want to get rid of the fringe left identity politics from their party and get back to Unions, the economy, and boring topics like abortion and guns (joking). While some percent of Republicans just want to get back to fiscal conservatism and get rid of the populist crap and bad economics Trump has been pushing (and get rid of the bad image he has left the Republican party with as well).
Its a really weird time in American politics right now, that's for sure. I predict utter chaos in the upcoming elections, but I still think we are in the 4th quarter yet to reach the end of the game. I think in the end it will be the debt crisis that changes things. At some point, everything else will eventually cease to matter.

How exactly do you think this would drive competition? So the government is going to have a healthcare bill that instead of healthcare companies getting direct subsidies to provide lower cost services, they just take Social Security money and give it to you so you can go buy your own healthcare? It doesn't resolve the fundamental issues with healthcare in America and the money ends up in the same few companies pockets anyway.
Not to mention the fact he is holding hostage the idea of effectively governing as a way to coerce people to vote for his party.
Quote:
Giving out checks to Americans has emerged as one of President Trump's major messages in the final weeks of the campaign season.
But Americans are skeptical, as multiple polls show voters harbor serious doubts about whether Trump will deliver and whether the cost would hurt the economy.
The president is nevertheless determined to escalate the issue with 29 days until the midterm elections. This past weekend, he mentioned checks at every campaign stop and made a new pledge to send $90 to millions of seniors enrolled in Medicare Part B.
The payment is intended to offset October Medicare premiums and will be deposited this month, but Trump emphasized that it will come in the form of cash.
"Over 20 million seniors on Medicare will soon be receiving a deposit of nearly $100 directly into their bank accounts," he announced on Truth Social. "You'll get your money almost immediately."
The Trump administration also began sending out $500 checks to about 950,000 Obamacare enrollees at the beginning of this month, with Trump again repeating his much bigger promise of $5,000 checks to adult Americans if Republicans sweep the midterms.

Me and my siblings are really more Gen X but if you draw the line at 1965 they are the youngest of the boomers

I think people that hate boomers should move to Canada where they have already begun implementing Logan's Run.
You will ultimately have to live with the same outcomes they have planned for boomers though.

Or the boomers can move there instead since they clearly love big spending governments.

I tell you what, Mr. CPA. 90% of my working life I was well within the top 15-20% of tax payers. 16 years well within the top 2% and of those 5 within the top 1% of tax payers. Not my fault swamp creatures blew through the money. My man, Trump, is on the job cutting the waste, fraud and abuse then putting the money back into the pockets of those that paid it in, in the first place. In fact, you should thank me for paying more than my fair share for decades.
Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that… https://t.co/YxUJKi10v6

Trump is currently adding to the debt that your grandkids will have to end up paying for. Now young Republicans are rightfully calling out terrible government spending habits and the olds are clutching their pearls.
