If the clerk at the utility office disappears with your payment, do you not still owe the city the balance?

Is that strawman covered by the constitution?

Is denying heat and water cruel and unusual?

Not according to the constitution…

Heat and water are not guaranteed rights…

Then why are we paying for them in prisons?

One thing we learned from her hospital stay - it IS possible to obtain IV access on this person. Note the location of the vein(s) and go there after they've had a chance to recover.

They need to send her back to jail with a picc line.

Hospital definitely has a central line in her, which is what the execution protocol was apparently supposed to do but didn't.

Can someone explain to me the totally ****ed up mind of liberals, i.e. the TMZ staff? Please make it make sense!

I don't give two craps what she felt. She brutally murdered an innocent teenage girl and attempted to murder a fellow inmate.

Seems reasonable but the hospital would never accept the liability of discharging a patient to a prison with working IV access. Too much potential for abuse with IV drugs being available and she would be a setup for an infected line & sepsis.

Even if she recovers to perfect health, it will play out for months if not years in court for them to ever get a chance to try again.

Can an orderly suffocate her with a pillow? You know, to finish the job the State couldn't.

Given the described injuries to her arms, it it a certainty that they were not attempting to administer drugs through central IV access, which would go in the neck (jugular), the subclavian (under the collar bone), or the groin (femoral). Tennessee's protocol would presuppose that they had a "team member" who knew how to do such a thing, which they almost certainly don't. Central venous access is typically a physician level task, and while some MD's (intensivists, anesthesia, interventional rads/cards) get venous lines on the daily, most MDs place zero lines per year.

This is an "easy in writing, difficult in practice" protocol.

Yeah, and then someone sues the crap out of the hospital with a "wrongful death" or whatever lawsuit. Probably sue the prison system as well. Agree with the absurdity of it all, but you know that's what would happen.

The clean and clinical nature of our executions is gross and weirdly inhumane imo.

I feel like we are under-utilizing available resources. Every person on Death Row is a killer, right? They seem to know what they are doing and they are right there in the same facility. This shouldn't be that hard, just a larger room and a simple instruction... "make it quick". That also keeps an innocent person from the guilt of doing the deed, which seems to be the hold up for a lot of people on capital punishment.

I honestly don't know why there isn't a modern guillotine with enough PSI behind it to slice through cast iron.

No windows, no visitors, just a sure, quick, and as relatively painless an execution as there can be. And no worries, ever, about what happened to this monster happening again.

ETA: IMHO of course.

Sorry, staph, just wanting to add to the discussion since the other thread went bye-bye.

Bring back Gladiators. Once a year round up all the death row inmates in the country and let them fight each other bracket style until there is a victor. That victor gets another year on death row before he/she fights again. If there's not enough contestants in following years, lets start throwing in some pedos.

Each DP inmate gets three years to complete appeals and courts will be required to expedite those appeals.

Let them choose from a selection of cold weapons.

Sell the live events on pay per view. The anti DP crowd is about saving money right? Best way to save money is to make money and reduce costs. This would do both.

Bonus points for further fulfilling the prophecy of idiocracy.

Who else can likely see her? The hospital staff is bound by HIPAA, prison officials are bound by CYA, and investigators will remain silent for investigatory purposes. Doubtful she's seeing any personal visitors since she is a death row inmate outside of a secure visitation facility.

Why would they say that if it wasn't true? I don't see any advantage in claiming that she is doing better than she actually is.

Lawyers can certainly twist the truth to frame a narrative, but making such a blatant and easily disprovable lie in public would not be wise.

I fail to see what they would have to gain by lying about it. Were she a vegetable, the courts would never allow another execution attempt. If the state does want to try again, there will be countless court hearings and medical examinations to determine her mental competency.

Well they handled two last month with no issue. Bet this one also goes off without a hitch. Not sure why Tennessee can't seem to get it together, but Texas and Oklahoma have figured out this death penalty thing with few issues. If you can't handle your business as well as Oklahoma, I don't know what to tell you.
