I just drove from Phoenix to Tucson in one of the heaviest rains I've ever been in. It's coming.

Can we actually please have a winter this year instead of just one weekend?

So in Brazos County, we are going from basically two rains in three months to this.

No one likes a bragger.

I would have killed for two rains in three months at my house.

The one in early July was decent, but the one we had about six weeks ago was less than an inch. It's not as much of a brag as you think.

Kinda cool fact. First ever hurricane to make landfall in El Paso.
I'm sweating it again as Mason area upriver Llano from LBJ is going to get hammered . Watching to see if keeper of the floodgates accommodates the lake this time or do I take another hit to my water toys?

True! But, I hope they don't float away.

Plus, my drain plugs are out, so all I'll get is a good interior carwash.

Knowing the forecasts, we won't get anything.

I'm in central NC. During the lead up to Helene, they were cancelling everything and telling everyone to stay home. We didn't get a drop of rain, but an hour to the west they were getting biblical floods.

This one is setting up to be about the best case scenario the State can get when getting hit by a hurricane.

1) All the high winds are going to be knocked down by the mountains out west, 2) the rain is going to flow in over a couple of days spread out across a wide area, and 3) they are predicting very low tornado threats.

Sure there will be localized flooding by everything will more or less be back to normal by Saturday afternoon.

Will the front provide meaningful relief for the Colorado River Basin out west?

Lakes Powell, Mead, etc. are dangerously low........

A lot of rain, but will it be enough to make a difference? FORECAST

This thread got me thinking about this red dirt classic. Supposed to get innundated up here in Colorado as well! Today's forecast suggests that it will be a little further south and less bad up here for now...

Aside from this past Saturday, it's been steadily raining out here in the southwest for about a week and a half. Haven't experienced a slow, steady rain like this in over a decade at least. Had a 1.5in since 2100 last night.

The problem here is - reservoirs east of a Fort worth to San Antonio line are, in general, 100% full.

https://waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/statewide

That means those lakes are going to have to let it all go. In west Texas - it's another story.

It's been another story for the last 1 million years in West texas.

That's why it's a desert.

The main thing I am concerned about is how this is going to impact my tailgate on Saturday. Looks like CS will get some rain on Thu/Fri but light on Saturday but if it shifts West there may not be much at all. Night game with temps finally not 100 degrees. Football team sucks but beer is cold.

My grandad always said "after every long dry spell, it comes a rain". I guess it's really coming this time.

Hopefully a lot of this makes it into the Edwards Aquifer. Looks like a lot of it will be in the right place, just need it to not come too fast.

Lake Cisco is at 42%. Could use a turd floater out that way.

Palo Duro is probably the worst in Texas at 0.9%. It's basically empty. This thing is predicted to track right over the Panhandle and will hopefully help those poor people.

All is fair in Love and "wishing for rain". I'm pulling for Lake Cisco.

Ackshually,

Slow soaking rains over the recharge zone rarely do much for the Edwards. The majority of the large scale recharge happens with flooding rains occur and fill the aquifer via karst features in stream channels and under small reservoirs.

Lake Leon is at 75%. All those early summer storms rolled just south and east of lake Cisco and filled up Leon.
