It would be nice if it could hold together or beef up a bit before washing out over the hill country.

As much as I wouldn't mind Medina Lake and Choke getting more water, I think they've had enough for awhile. Corpus proper could use a drink

I'm in east Texas this week. The heat is horrendous. I'm ready to go home already, but you are right the weather fear porn these days is out of control.

I love how all of the weather headlines I see now follow this format:

"160 million people are under severe heat watch today." Translation: it's summer like it is every year.

"32 million under tornado watch." Translation: storms are traveling west to east across country like they've always done.

lol, right on point. Even their regular forecasts are pretty much tripe. They go something like this:

"Those of you north of I-10 may not get any rain, while some will get 1" to 2" of rain, with a few getting around 3". That's not to say that a few of you could wind up in the bullseye and get 8" to 10" or more. That sort of rain could lead to localized street flooding and therefore I am issuing a stage 1 flood alert."

To recap that, you will either get no rain, or 1" to 2" of rain, or possibly 3" of rain, though it could be 8" to 10" of rain. Or more.

Don't forget Lanza probably shoehorning in a temper tantrum over NWS Funding being reduced. Or that being his excuse as to why they give the forecast you mentioned above.

Last time I called a tropical storm a nothing burger I had a beach house in Port A and that tropical storm turned into a Cat 5 (Harvey) over night - I give them respect theses days! Maybe just call it a little biotch

The only thing I don't know for certain is whether the new LLC can form while the other one still exists? I would tend to think probably not.

The center of mass for the convection is already over 200 miles SW of the LLC and they are moving in different directions away from each other. If that large area of convection can get some outflow going, a new LLC has plenty of space and time to form if it wants to. I think the AI models have backed off some on the intensity they were showing yesterday, but a large number of the ensemble members are still showing a low pressure center reaching the Central Texas Coast, while the current LLC is heading WNW north of NO.

That's good. I told my mom who lives in Rockport, let's give it another day and see what happens when Harvey was just forming up. She only grabbed a few days worth of clothes, her computer, and a few other small things when we packed her up and headed north.

West eye wall went directly over her house. You are right, it's never a nothing burger.

[We are going to remove derailing posts and trolling posts and the posters that make them until after this Tropical Storm makes landfall. There is your warning. -Staff]

Predicted to make landfall in Texas by Friday. This would be an awful turn of events after last week's flooding.

Ok the storm made landfall, does that mean we can start making derailing and trolling posts now?

Wind, rain and lightning started about 15 minutes ago at my house in Galveston.

I don't know if this is from Bertha already.

Sucks because I just fired up the Weber Kettle grill to make dinner.

65 mph winds just now in Kemah… they (weather channel) said it was from heat storms that Birtha whipped up near the water. Still expecting lower winds than that tmrw in the area. I'm down here, blew the bbq pit down the breezeway… a chick was paddle boarding and came hauling ass out of the water when the 65 mph winds hit with rain thunder and lighting …lol - probably has to go change her drawers

Thanks. That first wave only lasted 20 minutes or so.

I'll see what happens tomorrow afternoon.

May just be my imagination, but it looks like Bertha may be trying to form a new center of rotation within the dense convection offshore of Louisiana.

The meteorologist on Fox in Dallas just said most rain would remain offshore, except for the Corpus Christi area which could see 4+ inches of rain. She specifically said the hill country would be spared any flooding rain.

For a storm who's name is Bertha, talk about a let down.
My demon woke me up this morning and said bruh, I'm tired... So I handed him a Red Bull and said come on little buddy, we got bridges to burn and chaos to spread.

Spot the difference? I wouldn't consider 3-5.40 inches of rainfall in about a 2-3 hour span in Sugarland, which is quite far from the coast, "very minor coastal flooding".

There's a lot of tropical storms you don't or won't remember, like TS5 (passing through now) that you won't remember.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time
