Despite the cautions and wisdom I've read here on F16, I opened a random feed on reddit discussing this tragedy. They're saying exactly the above - that it was an obvious trap and modified lynching. There are posters over there declining fishing & hunting trip invitations simply because they would be the only black person present, and this is with coworkers and friends/people they claim to know know well.

I know this nonsense probably just a reddit thing (I'm a newb over there), but that was some of the most black on white racist crap I've ever read.

It should be noted that he was 18yo and had a college sophomore who had played his freshman year of football. That makes him a legal adult and all the references to him being a "boy" a bit disingenuous with regard to making his own decisions vs others victimizing him on account of his age. Not trying to victim blame here and it doesn't make his death any less tragic IMO, but it does temper the rhetoric that the race baiters are putting out there.

It's like some WANT this to be racist (i.e. Crump and his team literally want nothing less than this being racially motivated). When he said they will be conducting an independent investigation but then says, "We know the history of Mississippi". What kind of gaslighting statement is that?

Elko always refer to his players as "our kids", really makes me like even less.

I would be suspicious too if I was black as I can go to X and find countless incidents of groups of blacks beating the crap out of a white.

Family is already demanding murder charges against the friends and they always have the talking point of "we just want more answers." Hate to tell them, but sometimes the only answer is the simplest.

They are desperate to find, or manufacture, the next Saint Floyd. The families of course are always looking for a payday or else they would not hire Crump.
