This is what really grates on the all the leftists losing their minds over this. Just like the new East Wing Grand Ballroom addition on the White House and the new Air Force Ones, the Reflection Pond repairs will become positive part of Trump's legacy reminding the country how much he was able to accomplish, and the Democrats cannot stand it.

Just more of their petty, immature mentality. They really are miserable people.

Wait, he got NEW Nikes!?

Trump says work is progress nicely and they tested the color and "reflection".

Trump is fixing it.

It must really suck to have so much of your life dominated by something as trivial as this.

I've made 3 posts on this entire thread (well 4 now).

Between you and I, who do you think has posted more on this thread?

That's irrelevant.

My posts have very little to do with the extreme butthurtness you have over what you *think* should have been done or your arguing over a common vernacular term used in the project name not being 100% accurate to the actual process.

No we haven't. Your numbers are incorrect.

You didn't read any of the links I posted did you?

But go ahead and tell me what you think the correct numbers are

Biden's Inflation Reduction Act allocated $210 million dollars to "climate resiliency" projects like $3 million for "Birds Not Mosquitoes" in Hawaii and millions for projects in Denali for "cultural resources and subsistence lifeways protection", but we are to believe this fixing of a 100 year problem is Trump wasting money.

None of that is related to the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool. If you actually paid attention, all I have advocated for is a normal bid process.

Great news!

This is a normal process for a great number of projects, ranging from municipality to county to state to federal.

And your absolute ignorance of the actual "bid process" is shown in spades considering the reason this needs to be completed in a timely manner.

But hey! ORANGE MAN BAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What specifically within the rationale laid out at length in the contract award do you take exception with?

You never did concede or retort on the fact that painting was a bit more than a single coat of blue paint from Home Depot.

And you certainly had questions as well on the competency of the firm, the timelines and the increased budget.

So you are now saying it was needed, awarding it to a woman owned business with experience in the area and working with governments, is completing the project on schedule per their contract, and that the change order for increased budget seems in order.

You contention is that you have some as yet disclosed issue with the rationale they did for the no bid procurement.

Is that correct?

Hell he/she had the firm completely wrong

We'll never know, precisely because of the way it was awarded, which is the whole point.

We do have a point of reference, Obama spent $35M and couldn't clean it up. So, if this company, can clean it up for less than $7m and done in for the 250th celebration, then why are we upset? Trump is actually saving taxpayer money.

Its the same company. Eddie Wood is the owner and operator of the business.

That's reflected on his LinkedIn

He also identifies himself as the owner when speaking with the press

I know it's going to surprise you, but sometimes less scrupulous men will make their wives co-owners of a business in order to qualify as a woman owned business. In practice, the husband still owns a large portion of the business and effectively run the day to day operations.

So you are going to cite Wapo and NYT then some rando on X followed by... LinkedIn?

You said you got your information from the government, which I actually did.

I do know people who are in business with their wives. On occasion I have seen such but not as typical here as doing so has some pretty big repercussions for misrepresenting. You neglect that many business have multiple owners. I own a residential concrete business with a partner. I handle the back office, he handles ops. Do you have information that the wife and husband are not splitting their roles accordingly?

I know that's going to surprise you, but as a government contractor for 20 years I happen to understand these things.

Quite funny how the rando X guys says "became evasive". If you call me and ask me about my contracts you will get the same answer. In fact, the state agency I primarily works for will end you contract over such.

Sorry your big gotya still fails.

BTW - The pic in the X post shows Mid-America Industrial Coatings from Oklahoma. So Reddit and BlueSky are bubbling up its a buddy of MarkWayne Mullin.

So it was a no bid contract for a business that misrepresents itself as being woman owned in order to be the one chosen under an emergency contract to fix a 100 year problem for 1/10th the cost and they use an experienced company with experience contactors and all the left can do is REEEEEEE that the **** pool is being made nice for the nations birthday party.

Never change libs, never change.

It really is kind of sad to see people who have really only a very basic understanding of how government contracting processes actually work get repeatedly schooled by people who do government contracting work every day, yet they keep coming back to bash their heads bloody against the wall trying to prove how little they understand it. Just take the L and move on man! Throw the towel for God's sake!

I was there last Thursday evening touring the Lincoln Memorial and it already looked nice and clean with zero odor (except for all the 8th graders). Unfortunately, they had not started to add any water yet and the quick photo I tried to take was blurry due to the long exposure.

The amount of "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" still going on in this thread even after people who work in the field have said "It's fine" is hilarious. I was just a fed construction inspector, not a contracting officer, and I knew right away this was no big deal under the timelines involved.

Wasn't open yet. We were on one of the bus tours where you do the Chevy Chase at the Grand Canyon look/photo at each of several monuments, then get back on the bus and go to the next. Honestly, the most fascinating and moving one to me was a tie between the Vietnam and Korean War memorials. Seeing the Korean Wat memorial in the dark with the lights illuminating the soldiers walking across it just right so that you could see their reflections as ghosts on the wall was amazing and very moving. And seeing the huge number of names on the Vietnam memorial, knowing that their average age was 19, and the vast majority of them did not sign up to serve there voluntarily just brought me to tears.

Trump also making the waters flow again for first time in years at Meridian Hill Park.

Side note: for those who may have missed it, Trump told the world over and over again that the PEOC goes 6 stories below ground and includes a lot of neat features.

For a "newer" monument the WW2 memorial is pretty great also (Grandpa was surrendered and became a POW on Corregidor May 1942 as a part of the 4th Marines)
