Im not that old. Class of 2006.
I just dont think its an unfair exchange to play sports for the education and all the things thay come with it
I dont think college sports can continue as it trundles down this path
TV and Colleges made billions of these 'student athlete' and those same athletes were not allowed to hold jobs during the season and couldn't even eat a sandwich at an event they were invited to without getting in trouble (Eric Crouch $4 sandwich). It was extremely unfair.
If your employer was making billions off a product you produced all while paying you pennies on the dollar while controlling where you worked, when you worked (or could not work), what 'free stuff' you could accept, but not allow you any income outside of 'work', etc. you'd say screw this and sue too.
Dont really care. Id love for college sports to return to amateur status all together, if there was a world where that was possible.
My point is the value of all the things you get when your a college athlete is more than fair for exchange of their services. If am athlete thi ks otherwise, they're free to pursue other options to take advantage of their skills
I think there could be more done to take care of the $4 dollar sandwich issue or employment issues during non sport seasons.
Id rather go back to under the table payments than the **** we have now which leaves college football (let's be real, this is all we're talking about) nearly unwatchable because it undermines a key connection of athlete and student.
