We're seeing the movie plot of Sicario play out in real life.. Take out the leader of a big Cartel and start a war between them and all the other smaller cartels...Let them wipe each other out, then control what's left.

I have immediate family down there. Literally all of the roads are closed and they can't get to an airport (which are of course also closed). Cartel is blowing up gas stations. Going to get pretty hairy.

This is why the American consulate for the last 10 plus years has said don't travel to anywhere in Mexico including resort areas under any circumstances. On the other hand they say it's fine to travel to Zimbabwe. Thing about that for a second.

When you let a cancer grow unabated for years, it gets a lot worse when you decide to remove it. This is something that should have been done decades ago to prevent the cartels from getting such a foothold.

The other option is to continue to let the cartels run everything south of our border and get bolder here in the states

Here in Puerto Vallarte for our wedding anniversary. Told wife should have gone to Amarillo!

HUUUUGE explosion heard when we were 20 minutes out in the ocean. Came back to find a coastline with plumes of smoke. Scary stuff. Pics not as good as the other up close ones on the news...

I've read and tried to keep up with your postings on the travel board for Tulum over the years, thanks for the info, sincerely. We were planning to go there this summer as we hit Cancun last year but didn't squeeze in Tulum, Cozumel, Playa, etc. We may have to postpone now.
