I prefer isolation of Iran militarily, air land and sea, and turning off their power, vs economic sanctions affecting the world economy.

Other than causing oil to drop a bit, what world economy hits are you projecting?

Countries are being given a period to comply and if they don't severe repercussions. Non-compliance will be known well in advance and the markets will adjust.

Keep in mind that if effective these actions will be every bit as effective as turning off their power. And the other isolation is already in place.

The only thing you are not getting right now is kinetic action, though I suspect as Iran feels the economic effects and desperation really takes hold, that we will see a return to kinetics.

Cooperation or compliance with/by multiple countries is ALWAYS difficult at best. Financial sanctions including removal from the US dollar may carry unintended negative consequences. I think unilateral military action is more predictable and probably faster.

Should be great for our domestic oil and gas industry.

China and India still need to buy oil from somebody. They can buy it from us with no disruptions in service or delivery, and no political concerns.

Pay the price, and we will sell you the goods.

By the way, Bessent acknowledged today that UAE was still conducting trade with Iran up until the past week, for those who were mocking me previously asking for proof that gulf trade with Iran was still taking place.

We were not using our military resources to stop ships between the UAE and Iran.

So, then what actual progress has been made since the MUO or whatever it was called, was signed?

Serious question.

The MOU has been discredited and substituted for two items: No Nukes or nuke program AND Straight is fully open. Anything else pound dirt. You notice they are saying the war needs to end. I detect cracks in Iran.

Smuggling ventures to India (gold) and Iran (tarrif free contraban) has been a tradition in Dubai since before oil. Buying shares in smuggling ventures could be purchased at local banks as late as the 1970's.

Outlawing Dubai smuggling ventures is like outlawing rodeos in Texas. Just say'n.

wrong.

ALREADY there are videos coming out of the Islamic Republic showing massive lines at petrol stations and petrol stations running out of benzene- this is BEFORE any of the new Bessent moves take effect.

a driver posted video from the main port of Bandar Abbas today showing no trucks moving and no equipment moving. Bandar Abbas used to handle 80% of Iranian imports

1 US Dollar is now equal to TWO MILLION RIALS with an announced unemployment rate today by the Iranian Central Bank of 8.3% and loss of 750,000 jobs by the winter.

Regime decision-making may therefore take a long time to react, even as the economy gets much worse. Vahidi and other anti-concession officials appear to have a higher tolerance for domestic unrest because they may calculate that the regime can contain and suppress renewed protests without changing course.

There is no way Irans UE is as low as 8.3%. That's only two points higher than Canada.

Unemployment is estimated to be in the mid 30s, going higher. This per multiple sources.

Clock is ticking for a derevolution. Shoulda be doing this months ago. Let the IRGC have to govern an economy in free fall with the dead son of a dead leader as leader.

There is some strategy in the "slow boil" approach. Shocking the populace could cause such widespread suffering and panic that folks turn TO the existing regime as the "only option" to continue to eat and exist.

It's a much more delicates balance than folks recognize.

As long as the IRGC does not fire drones or missiles at them.

If that is the case then oil tanker traffic should go back to pre war levels which I highly, highly doubt.

I don't think any ship has transited the Strait of Hormuz without worry for the last 50+ years.

I detect a bit of sarcasm in the post, but if that is misplaced, my apologies.

Clearing of the mines is part of it. Iran continuing to demonstrate it no longer has the ability to harass ships is another piece. And finally getting the corrupt board of underwrites in London to support freedom vs mullahs is another piece.

That doesn't make any sense. Mines were one tactic by Iran to oppress movement of ships. They still have drones and missiles.

This obviously helps grease the wheels, if true.

It's strait… I mean straight from Trump and our Navy.

I think we can file this as true. Your point remains on drones and missiles, though clearing out the Oman route adds some "cushion" to monitor and counteract drone / missile attacks, though Iran has shown that its ability to harass in this manner has been greatly reduced.

As I mentioned yesterday, the focus appears to be shifting to prop up Yemen and the Houthis and harass maritime traffic in that manner. So Iran appears to be ceding Hormuz if the activities in Yemen are happening as reported.

Yemen should be easier to combat than Iran. There is nothing there so just nuke it and move on.

I think if things spice up in Yemen they will get a healthy dose of "find out". And you are correct, not much of redeeming value there.

There's reporting on this page that a ship may have been hit by a missile in the strait within the last 24 hours and we have people asking if we're back to normal.

As for the Houthis, we and the Israelis have already bombed them pretty extensively and it hasn't done much to eliminate the threat

That's why you bomb them with nukes. Irradiate it and the threat is eliminated.

Also note people get mad when you bomb Lebanon and Syria to go after terrorists, then ***** and moan when those terrorists who were allowed to live because "muh mean Jews bombed Lebanon" caravan to Yemen and say we haven't done enough in Yemen.

You don't have to nuke them. Plenty of non-nuclear ways to deal with the threat if it presents itself.

Usually, yes, there's a bit of sarcasm, but not this time.

I'm at the point where I just want to know how things are making real changes, not just feel-good posts.

The Straight has been full of worry for the last 50+ years, no doubt, but also, no doubt that the worry has increased to levels they are now since Trump's attacks.

Clearing the mines is a piece of the puzzle; it's a start.

Now to seeing the puzzle being completed.

I can't image the insurance premiums that vessel owners are paying for War Risk right now when they take their ships through the straits. I ran a fleet of offshore drilling rigs in the Arabian Gulf and they would charge us a substantial fee on top of our normal insurance premium anytime we took a rig through the straits and that was during "peaceful" times.

I think Trump once said the US government would underwrite some of those policies during this time but I don't know if that was something that actually happened or just another bold statement from our leader that sounded good at the time.

Major accomplishments, to me, make changes that are seen and felt. If this accomplishes that, then, yes, it's a major accomplishment.

Time will tell if this does that. I hope it does. It would be a nice change from previous posts about accomplishments.

At some point, they add up to causing that change, but history has shown that they start sounding like nothing more than propaganda to keep morale and the polls up.

I'm thinking the former right now.
