Hasn't this been an issue since commissioning? One of the technical leaps of the Ford class was a completely new sewer system that was supposed to dramatically reduce waste water production but the designers forgot all of the crap (literally) that people flush down toilets. It's been a constant maintenance headache for the ship.
Yes, it is a problem with the
Ford and the
Kennedy. Basically the pipes are too small and requires periodic cleaning with an acidic solution to remove buildup.
The design flaw has been fixed on all future ships of the class starting with
USS Enterprise. "If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
