I of course am not sure how accurate/current that is but have seen it reported quite a few places. Gross. Above are not good sources I realize but I'd think this is something they could/should fix promptly. Maybe it's false, hopefully that is true I just don't know why they'd need to stop in Crete right after deployment unless it's a serious maintenance/technical issue best handled in port.

One of the technical leaps of the Ford class was a completely new sewer system that was supposed to dramatically reduce waste water production but the designers forgot all of the crap (literally) that people flush down toilets. It's been a constant maintenance headache for the ship.

I guess, I will wait for some navy types to comment. I know navy procurement has been fairly disastrous in modern times, but this seems pretty bad if true...which it looks like it is. Sigh…

P.S. you know what does work well aboard ship in a pinch? Buckets.

It seems like sharing that type of information could be an issue. I'm not a military guy but sharing stuff that is potential operational capabilities is a no no.

This is why I will never do a cruise. The odds of ending up on a poop cruise are too high.

Apparently, it's automatic if you are on the most advanced boat in the world.

I am a big fan of opsec and skepticism toward OSINT types of info but this is pretty widely reported online at this point. The Iranians aren't adjusting plans based on the stopped up ****ters either.

I had a friend in Jr High whose dad was in his 70s and he was a WW2 Navy veteran. He told us the old ships had one big pipe that was connected to all of the toilets and their favorite prank was to make paper boats out of old newspaper and set them on fire and push them down the pipe to light a fire under someone's rear that was taking a dump down the line.

Yes, it is a problem with the Ford and the Kennedy. Basically the pipes are too small and requires periodic cleaning with an acidic solution to remove buildup.

The design flaw has been fixed on all future ships of the class starting with USS Enterprise.

Iran has been "weeks away" from having nuclear weapons since at least the 1990s. How do people still fall for this? Heck, didn't we just obliterate their nuclear facilities in June?

Sadly, no. Newest class of aircraft carrier in the fleet.

It's like people don't remember Stuxnet, targeted assasinations, and who knows what other dirty tricks the Israelis have done to make it years away rather than weeks. It takes time to enrich the uranium and that's after you have a crapton of centrifuges. They're not scrambling and trying to harden their nuke sites because they need them to power desalination plants.

Exactly. Either we were lied to about the success of the operation or now about the reasons to bomb Iran.

The question I've posed here which no one has answered is why does the US even need to be involved? Israel was bombing non stop for days and never lost a single asset. So if bombing Iran is so imperative let's just let Israel do it. But I haven't seen an answer to that question.
