Those are fiberglass, correct? So on the water, small signature on radar?

Probably...

But there are plenty of sensors now that use EO/IR to identify targets. And those are passive sensors, meaning they don't transmit like radars do.

I thought that we had cameras on drones that could practically pick out a fly on a bulls butt from way up there. Let's get some surveillance up there.

Who actually knows? Today was one of the weirdest days of following the conflict on X. Just a bunch of back and forth about will they or won't they meet.

Iran doesn't control the Strait because of some stupid little boats. They control the Strait because they can still launch missiles into the center of it.

The only replacement for an A10 is a new A10. Wont happen but that's the truth. Especially in "low intensity " conflicts like over the Strait

I was thinking the same thing...

But, an upgrade of the concept to the 21st century model might make a BETTER platform....

We don't know who's really in charge and neither do they. IRGC guy is making a power play on the civilian leaders. Unlikely the civilian leadership even knows where he is.

Iran no longer has a cohesive government. Time to go kinetic again. Negotiating is a waste of time. Target mil infrastructure, missile/drone bases and key bridges.

Also go after substation feeding key areas. No need to destroy powerplants when you can knock down lines.

Both sides want to negotiate and find an end to the war. After all the bluster, everyone will be there today.

Quote:

Two regional officials tell The Associated Press that the United States and Iran are signaling they will hold a new round of ceasefire talks in Islamabad as a fragile two-week truce was due to expire. Pakistan-led mediators received confirmation that the top negotiators will arrive in Islamabad early Wednesday. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.

So what has happened to all of these internal forces in Iran that were supposedly clamoring for regime change. That has been the biggest disappointment and miscalculation up to this point.

Quote:

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the elite branch of the Iranian armed forces, has blocked President Masoud Pezeshkian's presidential appointments and erected what sources described as a security cordon around Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, a report published Tuesday by Iran International said.

The IRGC effectively has assumed control over key state functions, the report claimed.

Analysts say a more powerful IRGC likely would mean a more confrontational Iran, less willing to compromise in talks with Washington and more inclined to continue military escalation across the region. With U.S.-Iran negotiations already faltering and uncertainty growing over whether Tehran will even send negotiators to the next round of talks, the rise of the Revolutionary Guard raises fresh doubts about who actually is making decisions in Iran and whether any civilian official can still speak for the regime.

If talks fail and we're forced to resume bombing hopefully, we'll pick our targets wisely. We don't want a humanitarian crisis. For starters, maybe just focus on infrastructure near Hormuz and Bandar Abbas. For example, we can stop 90% of all Iranian container traffic by knocking out power and rail/road access to Shahid Rajaee Port. Also, lots of IRGC valued targets near the strait and Bandar Abbas - including seizing my 3 fav IRGC controlled islands near the strait shipping lanes (Siri, Aba Musa, and Greater Tunb).

Problem is that the Iranian delegation can't make a deal. They need approval. Vance has Trump's blessing and discretion to bring it to a resolution. Trump has given JD the autonomy to do this. Iran hasn't done the same with their delegation.

"Inside Iran, signs of swelling military assertiveness are plentiful. Pro-regime crowdsmobilised nightly by networks tied to the IRGChave taken to denouncing Araghchi and Ghalibaf by name. Military communiqus delivered by men in fatigues appear to have replaced clerical sermons."

This is a tender box waiting for spark. If these negotiations fall through, and the Iranian government officials refuse to fall in lock step with IRGC "demands", we might see some of them dragged through the street.

Not sure that is a good strategy but all it takes is a rogue commander operating under a fractured command structure. Or, one of these empowered pro-regime crowds the IRGC is mobilizing for demonstrations.

I am pretty sure I read that one of our conditions for the next round of negotiations would be that the Iranian delegation had to have the authority to make a deal. That does not seem to be the case. I do not understand why we are wasting our time negotiating with the current slate of Iranians.

That isn't likely to happen until a situation is static. If there is an uprising of people, there are going to be a lot of dead people. I don't think they are super enthused about getting into a crowd of people that would be mowed down if there is a good chance the US or Israel would take those a-holes out with a few drones in a week without having to put a bunch of lives at risk. If they don't think that is going to happen, then we will start to see the uprisings again.

If no deal today, next meeting should happen in Brussels or China with Trump and Pezeshkian. No more ****ing around.

Kill whomever you need to in the IRGC beforehand to get it done. We know where they're at now. They popped their heads out during the ceasefire and we've been tracking them ever since.

no to this.

Pezeshkian is not the decision maker in Iran. the president of the united state should never meet with a foreign diplomat that has to make a call to decide things.

I think a bunch of the ones that would have led the charge (like 40k) were murdered before kickoff and, as the regime always does, they used that fact to intimidate other unarmed citizens into quietly getting back in line.

The real problem is that the ones who will give "approval" don't want any part of a deal. The IRGC wants to go back to building nuclear weapons and anything they do will be to support this goal. If we're being honest, anything else without them being in full control is likely a death sentence for IRGC leadership and they know it.

To sow discord amongst the Iranian 'leadership' such that it is. Also, there will be eyes watching and taking notes on all the activity from these folks.

But Pezeshkian can tell him Iran is being held hostage by the IRGC and give clout for the other countries to go in with ground forces.

Right. Likely they are lambs at slaughter at this point. The reports of pro-regime crowds being mobilized by IRGC makes an uprising less likely, that is part of the intent. Id imaine there are armed IRGC embedded in those crowds just waiting for conflict from anti-regime demonstrators.

Im no military strategist but it has been pretty clear for decades that neutralizing the bad actors in this region would be bloody. I think the only question is who is willing to accept the sacrifices required to actually accomplish anything. It is clear the US is not unified behind the President. The IRGC understand this clearly and that is leverage equally effective to any threat they might still hold on the strait.

There is already a humanitarian crisis. Theyre out of water. Before this kicked off they were planning to move the capital city.

Food shortages are also a major issue. The IRGC gives absolutely zero ****s about the citizens.

But I agree knocking power out to areas of highest military importance is top priority, except they also place high value targets in schools and hospitals.

Trump has been using the 42,000 number which even that is insane to think about a military dictatorship shooting 45,000 of it's own citizens in the span of two days!

You wouldn't kill 45,000 people even if you carpet bombed the whole country. That number is a lie

Here's hoping Mossad has eyes on Vahidi 24/7. He needs to be unalived at the earliest opportunity when the cease fire collapses - and it will. Hopefully we and the Israelis have been locating all the remaining 12'ers and IRGC higher ups in the last two weeks for immediate trash take out..

I love the Warthog but the Super Tocano is well suited to handle some of that mission

also, you are sleeping on the next generation of unmanned aerial vehicles which will be loaded with air to ground munitions
